Akshay’s Care for Netra
Netra:
I clenched my fist to control my temper. I don't want to speak anything.
"Good night, Jeevith," I said and slept on the bed, trying to avoid the unwanted argument.
"Good night!" Jeevith said.
I felt Jeevith sleeping on the other side of the bed, and I got up immediately. I can't share my bed with him. Not even casually. Not even for a single night.
"Get out of the bed, or I will sleep on the sofa in the living room," I said sternly.
"Netra, please try to understand. I assure you that I will not do anything for you. Please sleep," Jeevith said.
"No!" I almost shouted at him.
"Okay! Don't shout. I will sleep on the floor. You can sleep on the bed," Jeevith said.
"That's okay. This is your house. This is your bed. Just help me to arrange the mat or something to sleep on the floor," I said.
Why should he feel uncomfortable because of me in his house, leaving the bed? I should adjust. Jeevith arranged the blankets on the floor, and he slept on it, leaving the bed to me.
"Why are you lying down on the floor?" I asked.
"A loving husband can never see his wife suffering or getting troubled for anything. Instead, he bears it," Jeevith said and covered himself with a comforter without leaving any room for further dialogue. I slept silently.
In the morning, I woke up with the sound of an alarm. Jeevith got up, and I stared at him as he woke up early at 4 am. Why did he wake up this early? He opened the door attached to the bedroom. It's a gym inside the house. Jeevith took off his shirt and started exercising.
My eyes fell on his orbs and then on his firm chest. God, he is too handsome to ignore.
Netra, what are you thinking? Are you crazy? Is this the way how you feel about a man? Shut up your bloody talks.
I scolded myself.
Netra, he is not someone unrelated to you. He is your husband. You have every right to look at him and feel for him. That's nothing wrong.
My stupid mindless logicless heart suggested me.
I closed my eyes and acted as if I am asleep. After one hour, I felt Jeevith caressing my hairs.
"I love you, my wife. I don't know the reason behind your hatred for me. But I love you so much. I am sorry for breaking your heart with my words in anger. I want to see you smiling and being happy forever. I don't want you to stress much and worry about anything. I hope you will give me a chance to free you from all this and show you a peaceful world filled with love. I love you, Vindhya," Jeevith said, giving me a big shock.
Vindhya? Did he call me as Vindhya? How could he? I just hate him.
I pretended to be asleep clutching the bedsheet. I slept after some time without my notice.
After some time, I woke up and stretched my hands but felt pain everywhere in my body. I couldn't get out of the bed and felt as if I got severe fever. I took the mobile and dialled Jeevith's number. He didn't pick my call, and I called Akshay.
"Hi Netra, how are you, sweety?" Akshay asked me.
His voice filled with love is enough to cure any illness.
"I... I..," I tried to speak, but I couldn't talk due to fever.
"Netra, are you unwell? I am coming there. Don't worry," Akshay said, and within fifteen minutes, he came to me.
"Where is Jeevith?" Akshay asked, fuming.
I didn't speak, and Akshay lifted me in his arms. He took me to the hospital and then to my house. He made me sleep on the bed. He fed milk with bread to me.
"Take this tablet," Akshay said, and I had it.
"I thought to take you to my home, but I know you will be comfortable only at your house. Rest for a while. I will stay here," Akshay said.
"Don't you have a meeting?" I asked.
"Nothing is as important as you are!" Akshay said.
I smiled and drifted into sleep due to the effect of the medicine. I felt my mobile ringing, and I opened my eyes.
"Jeevith is calling you," Akshay said, handing over the mobile to me.
I picked the call.
"Netra, I am so sorry. I didn't notice your call. I was in a meeting at that time. Tell me, dear, why did you call me?" Jeevith asked me.
"I am suffering from fever," I said.
"What? From when? In the morning I checked on you while leaving our home. Anyways I will be there as soon as possible. I am starting now," Jeevith said.
"I am in my house," I said.
"Okay! I will be there sooner. Please take care until I visit you," Jeevith said and disconnected the call.
After some time, Akshay forced me to have soup. He is feeding me the soup, and just then Jeevith came to the home. I expected him to shout as usual, but this Jeevith didn't react in that way.
"Thank you so much, Akshay. You took care of my wife until I returned to her," Jeevith said.
Of course, Jeevith didn't forget to stress the words, my wife.
"Netra is my friend before becoming your wife. I too have a responsibility," Akshay said in a calm voice.
"Netra, did you take medicine?" Jeevith asked me.
"Yes, I did," I said.
"I took her to the hospital. The doctor prescribed these medicines," Akshay said, handing over the prescription to Jeevith.
"I think it's better to stay here in this house until she recovers as she feels comfortable in her house. Anyways it's upto you. As you are there to take care of Netra, I think it's time for me to move," Akshay said.
I looked at Akshay with surprise. Whenever I fell sick, he used to stay with me, keeping all his works aside until I recover completely.
"I will move, Netra. I have an important meeting," Akshay said.
I nodded, but I felt it's unnatural and hurt. Why do I think that Akshay should stay here until I recover? Why am I expecting the care from Akshay when I never expect anything from anyone. Akshay went almost to the steps to leave but stopped and turned towards me.
"Do you want me to stay?" Akshay asked me.
"I can manage," I said with invisible tears in my eyes and Akshay left immediately.
