Why?
Netra:
I didn't speak anything.
Jeevith held my hands and kissed my palm. I closed my eyes, feeling the touch of his lips.
"I want to know you, Netra. But how can I when you hide everything from me? Give me a chance to know you, understand you, and love you forever."
"I am sorry, baby, for speaking that way to you. I shouldn't have spoken that way to you," Jeevith said.
I didn't react because it might be his habit to insult me several times, but still, I am not habituated to accept insults.
"Your silence is killing me. Speak something," Jeevith said again.
"Leave me alone," I said without showing my tears to the one who never tries to understand me.
"Netra, please!"
"I have no time for any drama," I said seriously.
Jeevith came towards me, pinning me to the wall.
"I hope one day I will be tasting these shivering lips," Jeevith said, stroking my lips.
"This shivering in you with my proximity says your feelings, which are still unclear," Jeevith said.
"How can you forget those words said by you just before a few hours? Is it that easy?" I asked him.
"Not really!" Jeevith said, closing his eyes.
"I want to give everything that you love, Netra. After all, that's what true love is!" Jeevith said.
"Do you know something? Every time I see you with Akshay, I feel as if someone stabbed my heart. I can't describe that pain. At the same time, I don't want to put conditions to you to stay away from Akshay. I just want you to follow your heart.
That night I saw you in a hotel with Akshay. I am not pointing out your character, but being close to Akshay is not something I can take lightly. You can never understand that. Just tell me one thing, Netra.
Why are you angry with Serena whenever she speaks about me?" Jeevith asked.
"What are you talking about? I am just worried about my company, that's it," I said.
"That day, when she asked to leave the tender to my company, I noticed your jealous. Of course that day, I didn't see a businesswoman Netra but a jealous wife, Netra. Even now, this curl on your forehead and unusual breathing rate show you are effected with my touch and mere presence," Jeevith said, confusing me.
Suddenly Jeevith held my waist and pulled me closer to him. His lips were very near to me, which were almost touching to mine. I didn't understand how to react and stood as a statue. Jeevith left me from his hold.
"We are leaving for our house," Jeevith said.
"You have no right to order me," I said.
"Yes, I can't order you but can lift you," Jeevith said.
"What?" I said, and Jeevith lifted me in his arms.
"Leave me," I said, but he didn't listen to me. He took me to his house again. He made me sit on the sofa and held my hands.
"Netra, I didn't mean to hurt you. I just want you to choose the one whom you love.
Respecting marriage is fine, but does it give happiness to you? Being silent and living a life of no liveliness is absolutely waste. That's why I have spoken harshly to you. I didn't drink that day," Jeevith said.
"You are an idiot," I yelled at him.
"For your happiness, I am ready to bear and do anything," Jeevith said.
"Netra, I made your life a hell. On that day, I didn't support you, and my silence for few minutes ruined your life forever. I am not a mummy's boy, as you think. It's true I love and respect my mom. But, it doesn't mean I support her deeds too. Trust me, I love you," Jeevith said.
"I need time to think. Moreover, Akshay needs me now. I can't leave him in this situation," I said.
"I understand. I don't object because I know what all Akshay did for you," Jeevith said.
I remembered how Akshay made me Netra- a strong woman. I am ever thankful to him. I left the house for Akshay. Akshay came late at night and kept a discussion in the spare room with his party members.
"Votes are important to us. This blasting is a great plan to increase our vote bank," Akshay said, shocking me.
Plan? What is he talking about?
"Though we lose votes of those few people who live in the slum, we get many votes from others. Just catch someone who has no one or in poor condition. And shoot him dead. Close the case. Everyone will think that we caught the culprit and votes for us," Akshay said.
I couldn't believe his words. How could Akshay degrade his values just for votes? I left for my room. After some time, Akshay came to me.
"Netra, shall we have our dinner?"
"My hunger was dead," I said sadly.
"Are you alright?" Akshay asked and tried to touch my forehead but stopped himself.
"I am sorry," Akshay said.
"I heard your conversation," I said.
"So?" Akshay asked.
"Are votes more important to you than the lives of those people? Is this how you want to win in life and politics? What do you gain by this, and how can you be happy in this way?" I shouted at him.
"You should have asked me this when I entered into politics and succeeded faster for you. You should have scolded me the day I became the Home Minister to make you Netra and free from prostitution. How do you think I have achieved this success without doing anything wrong? Politics is a cunning game where we have no emotions and values," Akshay said, shocking me.
"When did you become a politician from a leader and a human?" I asked with tears in my eyes.
"The moment I saw you lying unconscious on a bed with scars throughout your body. That second I decided to capture the power and money which can control anything in this world," Akshay said.
"Killing them for our happiness is unforgivable," I said.
"When did I ask for forgiveness? And who are going to forgive me? Who is good in this world, Netra? Everyone has two shades. Everyone commits evil deeds when the time comes. Just the time has to arrive. No one is pure or selfless in this world. Until the world knows the true nature, everyone acts as a good and kind person. This is the truth which none can ever deny," Akshay said, making me speechless.
I don't want Akshay to be inhuman or emotionless just because of me. I want him to be a leader who serves the public but not the one who destroys their lives for his power.
