A Step Closer

Netra:
I slept in my room comfortably. In the morning, I woke up and looked at the watch. It's already 11 am.
Shut, I should hurry to the office.
I woke up and took a shower. I got ready and went to the hall. I saw servants setting food on the dining table.
"Good morning, sweetheart!" Jeevith said.
"Good morning," I said.
"I have appointed cook and servant. You no need to do any works. They will take care of everything," Jeevith said.
"I don't like maids," I said.
"Do you mean you can do the works?" Jeevith asked suspiciously.
"Yes!" I said.
"But I don't know about washing clothes or dishes. I know only cooking to help you," Jeevith said.
"That's not an issue. You can learn those works, and we both share the works," I said.
"Sure!" Jeevith said.
I heard the ringtone of my mobile. I took the mobile from the handbag and noticed that the call is from Akshay's guard.
"Hello!" I said.
"Good morning, madam. I want to inform you something important, madam. From the day you met Akshay sir, he is taking too much of alcohol every day. He stopped going to the office and meeting the common people. If this continues, soon the media and opposition will defame Akshay sir, and he may lose his ministry, madam," the guard said.
"I am coming," I said.
"Netra, have your breakfast," Jeevith said.
"I need to go urgently," I said and left home.
I went to Akshay and opened his room door. The strong alcoholic smell made me step back. Again I moved towards the room and found Akshay on the bed.
"Akshay!" I said and shook him to wake up.
He opened his eyes in a drowsy state and looked at me.
"Netra, why don't you leave me in my dreams when I forced you to leave me in real?" Akshay asked me.
"Shut up. Get up now," I shouted, and Akshay got up.
He got fresh up and returned to me.
"So, this is not my dream," Akshay said, drying his face with a towel.
"I will just come," I said.
I went to the kitchen and prepared a strong coffee with less sugar for Akshay. I gave coffee to him and had a cup of coffee with Akshay.
"So, what next?" I asked Akshay.
"You might have already planned. Tell me," Akshay said.
"A long bike ride and a movie," I said.
"Anything for you," Akshay said.
"Stop flirting, man," I said, laughing at him.
"Should I flirt you when I am in your heart forever?" Akshay.
Akshay covered his face with a helmet and offered another helmet to me as we don't want people to recognise us. Akshay started the bike, and we began to roam around the city. In between, I took off the helmet, and Akshay stopped the bike.
"Netra, please wear the helmet. Someone might recognize you," Akshay said.
"What if I don't?" I asked him.
"If you don't wear it, then you can't guess what I am gonna do," Akshay said seriously.
I looked at him.
"What I am gonna do is that I will remove my helmet too," Akshay said, removing his helmet. We both laughed at each other and then we continued our ride.
People started looking at us, amazed as everyone recognised Akshay.
"I want to go to your place," I said. Akshay raised the bike speed indicating his anger. However, he took me to his place.
"Akshay bhaiya," everyone came to him.
Akshay sat on the rock and started talking to the people and especially to the children. I distributed clothes and groceries to them. We had lunch and started from there.
"Stop the bike, Akshay," I said.
Akshay stopped the bike, and that's a place where there's no one. I got down from the bike.
"Akshay, I know we love each other. But our love is not of that kind which is hopeless or kills the hopes of others on us. We know we are living for our people but not for us. Whatever we do, it should be a step towards making their life better but not making our life the worst," I said.
Akshay looked at me for some time without speaking anything.
"I will leave, bye," I said and left from there in my car which followed me until now as per my order.
I remembered the struggle of Akshay to become the Central Home Minister. From an orphan, today Akshay rose to the power of influencing the politics in India. Everyone thinks Akshay is corrupted and ruthless politician, but I know what he is.
Akshay is a sign of courage to thousands of people living there, hope to those children, a blessing to those parents left by their children and a friend to the youngsters who aspire to succeed in life. Only I know why did he choose that place and those people. His past is a nightmare that no one else can imagine.
I went to the company, and at night, Jeevith picked me up from the office. Next day morning I woke up and took the newspaper to read. Jeevith went to prepare the coffee for us. In the paper, I was shocked by reading the news. Someone published the photo of Akshay and me on the bike together and mentioned it as the open romance of Central Home Minister, Akshay.
"Netra, coffee!" Jeevith said, and I looked at him with tension.
"Why are you dull?" Jeevith said, taking the newspaper from my hands.
Jeevith looked at the photo and then me.
"I am sorry, Jeevith. Actually what happened was....," I said.
"That's okay. I can understand. Every news that's published in the newspaper is not necessary to be true," Jeevith said.
"Relax and have the coffee," Jeevith said, sitting beside me on the sofa.
I wondered about Jeevith's change. Why did he change to this extent? He used to doubt me for everything but these days he became too understanding. His sweetness is surprising to me. Is Jeevith good? Did I misunderstand him? Maybe he is not as bad as I thought.
I hope Akshay will become normal and focuses on his work. I want him to be an inspiration to youngsters. I don't want him to ruin his life because of me. I hope everything becomes fine sooner.
