Chapter 28: Their Secret Place
Avery knew she had to take a risk to prove her good intentions. She didn’t want to ruin what she had now especially after she made that deal with Ji. She has to win Carson’s heart at the same time, she wanted to do something with Ji. She didn’t want to do her part of the deal.
Deep inside, she knew Carson deserved the position. He worked hard to finish all his tasks and do everything he can for the company. But she couldn’t let herself fall under the pit with Ji. She needed to secure her spot in Carson’s life before she brings Ji down.
“I just want to be on your side.”
Carson moved his head to turn to her, “You were already on my side. You don’t have to prove anything.”
She moved her head to look at him closely. His eyes were mesmerizing. She didn’t really know where she stood with him. Some days he was nice, some days he was different. She smiled, “So we’re okay?”
He didn’t respond and raised his hand and twirled her, making some people in the room turn to them. He pulled her back closer to his chest again. They looked like a couple from a fairytale.
After the dance, Carson and Avery decided to mingle with more guests. People might not notice it but his hand never left hers. Avery wasn’t sure if this could count as a win, but right now, she felt she did.
The night ended with fireworks in the garden. Everyone seemed to be emersed in the show, even Jenny. On the other hand, Avery and Carson watched the show by the side of the mansion. It was a small area where no guards were waiting and no guests would come.
“I don’t want to ask why you know this place”
Avery asked as she walked with Carson. She had this mischievous smile on her face, making him smile in return. He stopped by a position where they could see the fireworks. “I’m just tired of smiling and acting like a prince.” She laughed at his comment and turned to the fireworks show.
“It was nice though. To attend something like this.”
He shaked his head. “No. It’s tiring. I just want to chill somewhere.” Avery turned to him and remembered what Ji asked her about Carson’s dream.
“What do you want to be? If not Lee Technology’s CEO?”
His smile faded. He looked at her and noticed that they are close to each other. He was so engrossed on the fireworks that he didn’t notice.
“Well, I haven’t thought of that actually. All my life, my dad trained me to be the CEO.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Anything you enjoy doing?”
He bit his lip as he thought about it. She found this expression cute. Everything about him was starting to be cute. She was busy staring at him when he spoke, “I like to paint. It makes me feel calm.”
Avery clapped her hands as she remembered something. “I actually know where you can paint! Maybe you want to come with me this weekend?”
If he agreed to this, then it would mean that he trusted her more now than before.
His eyes widen, “You didn’t think that was uncool?” She titled her head with his sudden question. “Why would I? Painting is great. I can’t do it. Art doesn’t seem to like me so”
He smiled. “You’re the first one who thought it was cool. Everyone judged me because of it.”
She then understood why he paused when she asked him. He was not thinking of a hobby, he was doubtful about her reaction. She laughed, “cute”
Avery paused as Carson’s eyes widen. “I---“ She was thinking of a way to make an excuse because of what she said but she was cut off when he kissed her.
Her eyes widen with the sudden act but when he pulled her body close to him, she gave in. The kiss was passionate. She slowly placed her hand on his head as the kiss became intense. He then pinned her by the wall. She frowned a bit which made him slow down. “I’m sorry.”
She didn’t reply and lifted one of her legs. He grabbed it, showing more of her skin. He started kissing her once again as he pushed his body to her.
He moved away from the kiss as both of them gasped for air. His eyes were full of lust and excitement. He then started kissing her neck. She let out a moan, which was nothing as compared to the last time. She was used to his kisses at the same time she was yearning for more.
Her grip on his hair tightened as one of her free hands traveled to his pants. His lips moved to her collar bones. She can feel her whole body weaken as her hand finally reached the bulge on his pants. He paused by the sudden touch. His hand on her leg then moved inside her dress. His hand was warm but his grip tightened, sending chills to her spine.
Avery was beginning to be desperate for his touch when she realized that she couldn’t give him what he wanted, yet. Plus, the area was not really suitable for the job even if she did this a couple of times before. A part of her knew that Carson’s image would be at risk if someone saw them.
She moved her head closer to his ear to lick it. His grip on her leg lessened, making her smile. She was starting to know his weak spots. She was about to put her hand inside his pants when she whispered, “I don’t think we should do this here, Carson.”
He paused to look at her. He looked like a beast who was disturbed as he ate his favorite meal. Avery smiled at his priceless expression, she was indeed ready for step 3.
