"You know you don't have to leave," Andrew said, watching as Rita dragged her box outside from the room.
"You just have to apologize to Krystal for the wrong you did," he added.
"I am not doing that," Rita said.
Krystal came downstairs hearing their conversation. She also watched as Rita packed.
"Andrew, she doesn't have to apologize. I am fine with it."
"She disrespected you and you deserve an apology," Andrew said.
Krystal noticed that both of them were stubborn. She knew there was nothing she could do to convince either of them.
Rita was determined to go and Andrew was determined to get that apology from Rita.
"I hope you're happy now?" Rita whispered as she passed by Krystal.
Rita walked out with her things and Andrew noticed the expression on Krystal's face.
“It’s not your fault. She chose what she wanted.”
Krystal checked the watch on her hand.
“I am late for work. See you later,” she said.
Several minutes later, she got to work. It was another new week to see Collins and she had mixed feelings about it.
She was determined now more than ever to find out what he is hiding and also to try and stay away from him because she didn’t like the feelings she was having the last time they were in close contact.
She knew love didn’t easily go away that way and she remembered a saying that “you can’t never truly stop loving someone”.
She walked into her office. Her assistant followed closely behind her.
“Do I have any meetings today?” She asked.
“No.”
“Has anyone turned in their reports of last week and how is search for investors going?” She asked dropping her bag on the table and sitting.
“Collins said he had some news regarding investors,” she said.
“Tell him to see me in my office and bring reports concerning it.”
“Alright.”
Collins came to Krystal’s office sometime in the afternoon. He had intentionally delayed his going to the office.
He knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Krystal said.
He walked into the office and sat on the chair opposite Krystal before she could even say anything.
“Good that you decided to finally show up.”
“You’re not my boss, so you should try not to command me to do things,” he said.
“I am still the lead on this project, I think you should respect that,” Krystal said.
“Alright ma,” he said sarcastically with a laugh.
“The documents? Also what about the investors?” She asked
He handed her some documents.
“Leadway has agreed to listen to our pitch.”
“Isn’t that like the biggest investment company in recent times!!” Krystal said excitedly.
“It is. You see how things work when you have me on your team.”
“When do we meet them?” She asked.
“They need a pitch by Friday 2pm,” he explained.
“Why in the afternoon?”
“Apparently they also have a company to go to in the morning on Friday. They are going to chose between both to see which they should go for.” He explained.
“Do you know what company that is?” She asked.
“I don’t but I will find out.”
“Alright, thank you.”
Collins left her office in a few minutes after. Krystal realized he had left a document she had given him to work on.
She stood from where she was, picked it and went to his office.
She entered his office and dropped the documents on his table.
“You forgot this.”
While he was looking through it, Krystal noticed a document on the table. She stared at it and realized it had some forgery in it.
She couldn’t get the full glimpse of what was in it but she saw enough to know she was right about him hiding something.
Collins immediately noticed the file was out and pushed it under a pile of other files.
Krystal immediately averted her gaze back to him.
“Thank you again for helping with the investor. Hopefully we can nail it on Friday,” Krystal said.
Collins stood from where he was sitting and moved closer to Krystal who walked slowly towards the door until she was resting on the door.
“You know I would do anything for you. You have always known that.”
He caressed his fingers on her arms teasing her. They were so close now, she could feel his breath on her.
“Collins,” she called.
“You can thank me in other ways you know,” he said, using his tongue to trace his lower lip and staring into her breast.
“No, please. This is inappropriate.”
“You know you want me. You have only ever liked me,” he said.
Krystal could see the thirst in his eyes. She pushed him away from her, opening the door and closing it hard behind her.
Collins clinched his fist and banged it on the table. He wondered why is plan wasn’t working. He knew he had to think fast, of something that would actually work.
Krystal stayed in her office later than usual. She was waiting for Collins to get out of the office first. When she realized that he wasn’t coming out of his office, she decided to wait in the parking lot in her car.
Several minutes after she got down from the office, Collins came to his car.
Krystal was hoping if there was a way she could get into his home unseen. She needed to at least get an understanding of the place.
She waited a bit before following Collins. She tailed him behind and made sure she wouldn’t be seen by him.
She saw him pick out documents from the car and get down from the car.
it was also 23, dalton street where she lived with him for 2 years so she knew the house pretty well.
She packed across the street where he wouldn’t have noticed or seen her.
When he entered into the house. She followed behind and went towards the window of the room. She had to do some climbing on a tree but she knew the place quiet well so it was easy.
She knew where the key is always kept. She knew the important things about the house.
As she watched from where she bad climbed.
Collins got into his room and opened his safe, it was coded and he kept the documents in it. Krystal couldn’t see the code. She tried to focus to see what it was but she couldn’t.
A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door.
Krystal got down from where she was and stayed near the building to get a good grasp of who it was.
She realized it was a woman. She couldn’t make out what it was that they were talking about.
She was a young lady in her 20s.
“Lucy, leave now!! I have told you never to come here again!!! Leave!!!” Collins screamed as he pushed the lady away.
Krystal wondered what was going on. She had never seen the lady before.
Collins banged the door close and the lady sobbed. Krystal wanted to come out of her hiding to ask what was going on but she decided to not do that..
Lucy left Collins’s place and Krystal decided to follow her to her place.
Krystal followed her till she got to where she lived. It was the type of houses that had so many small apartments in it.
The type that looked like a motel. Krystal watched as she got in before turning away to go home.
Several thoughts ran through her mind. She wondered what could be going on but nothing was coming to her head. She decided that she was going to go back to the apartment the next day to meet with Lucy.
She checked the time and realized she was so late already.
She got home after some minutes. When she got home, Andrew was already at the dinning about to start eating.
“You’re home late, tried calling you but it wasn’t going through,” he said.
“I had a lot of work to do today,” she said.
“You really should try to call if you’re going to be home late. So no one will be worried,” he said.
“I am sorry, I will next time,” she said.
“I should change my clothes,” Krystal said.
“Dinner is ready.”
“Alright.”
Some minutes later, Krystal was back down. She had changed into something more suitable and comfortable.
“How was your day?” Krystal asked Andrew, as she sat by the table.
“Same old.”
“How is it like being the C.E.O now. I know it’s everything you have ever wanted.”
“Amazing actually. So much responsibility but it’s been good.”
“How was work for you?”
“Tiring but something amazing happened today,” Krystal said, excitedly.
“What is it?” He asked.
“Leadway wants to hear my pitch on the new Flavour we are producing. They are literarily the biggest investors ever and I know dad would be so proud. I really need this.”
“Leadway? When is the pitch? He asked.
“Friday by 2pm.” She answered.
Andrew stayed silent for a while.
“You’re the other company they are seeing on Friday morning?”
“Yes.” He answered
