Krystal felt like the worst person in the world. So many emotions ran through her body as she watched him drive away.
The tears plastered on her face and more dripping down her cheeks. She wished the last 24 hours didn’t happen. She wished she foresaw all this and did something to stop it.
Her phone beeped and when she checked, it was a message from Lucy.
Lucy: it’s about the documents, can we talk.
Krystal: maybe some other time. I will call you. I am sorry.
Lucy had read her message and didn’t understand what Krystal was talking about. She decided to dial Krystal’s number but Krystal didn’t pick.
She wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone. Especially not to Lucy about the documents. She was in no mood for that.
She walked inside and a conversation she had with Andrew before he left b kept ringing in her head.
“You know, a few weeks after you moved in, I started feeling something I had never felt before. I couldn’t explain it. Felt like lust, love and a crush all in one. It scared me, I ignored it for the longest and hoped it was going to go away but it didn’t.”
“I am sorry,” Krystal had whispered.
“No, I am the idiot for making my heart feel this way and hurting it,” he had said.
Krystal sat on the coach when she got in and curled up her legs in. One thing this all made her realize was how scared she had been to admit what she was feeling to herself and how she had built such a giant wall that didn’t let her see the love she had in front of her.
Krystal always knew what to do in most situations. How to deal with things but for the first time, she had no idea what to do. She didn’t know if she could even do anything about all of it.
She picked up her phone and dialed Andrew’s number over and over again but he didn’t pick up.
She dialed Trisha’s number next.
“Hello,” Trisha said, wondering why Krystal wasn’t talking.
Then she heard her sobbing on the call.
“Krystal! Krystal! Are you there? What’s wrong?” Trisha asked concerned and scared.
“Trisha,” Krystal said.
“Where are you? I am coming to meet you now,” Trisha said
“Home,” Krystal answered.
After several minutes, Trisha arrived at Krystal’s.
She rushed inside calling her name and then met Krystal sitting on the coach in the living room.
Her tears had dried and she was just sitting there staring into space.
Trisha rushed to where she was sitting and sat next to her.
“Are you alright? What happened?”
Trisha asked all at once. She was confused as to what was going on and needed answers.
At first Krystal said nothing and just stayed staring.
“You’re scaring me, at least say something,” Trisha said.
“Where is Andrew by the way?” She asked.
“He left,” she said in a low tone.
“What do you mean he left,” she asked confused.
Krystal turned to Trisha on the coach.
“So, yesterday I went out with Collins to the bar. I was supposed to go out with Andrew instead for a dinner date and when I came back, someone sent Andrew these pictures of I and Collins together and some of those pictures looked compromising and all,” Krystal explained and Trisha was dumbfounded. She didn’t know what to say to Krystal.
“Why would you do such a thing!! Krystal!”
“I had my reasons, I really do.”
“And what are they? Did you tell him?” Trisha asked.
“No, I didn’t think I had to tell him. It’s my business not his.”
“Moreover this marriage wasn’t even real to begin with.”
“That’s selfish,” Trisha said.
Krystal moved away from Trisha and turned to look at her.
“You can’t say that. You don’t Know the full story.”
“That’s it Krystal. You never think about anyone else but yourself.”
“You wanted this marriage with Andrew. I asked you several times if it was the right thing and what you wanted. You affirmed it and now you are doing this to him,” Trisha said.
She wasn’t sure where all the words were coming from. She didn’t even know she was saying all that to Krystal.
The words were just coming out of no where.
“You can’t say all that to me. You’re my friend you’re supposed to be supporting me,” Krystal said.
“I knew Andrew way before too Krystal but this isn’t even about that.”
“This is about you spoiling the present and future because you’re being stuck in the past.”
“I am not stuck in the past!! You have no idea what you’re talking about!!” Krystal said, visibly angry. She felt no one could understand her but it wasn’t their fault. She wasn’t making it easy on anyone.
“You’re lucky he likes you that much. You shouldn’t take that for granted,” Trisha said.
“You need someone to tell you the mistake you’re making not supporting your wrongs. That’s what I believe friends her for,” she added.
Krystal wasn’t understanding where all the outburst was coming from but as she thought deeper. She realized something.
“Now I understand,” she said, raising her eyebrows.
“Andrew was the guy you had a huge crush on in high school. The one you always told me about. Are you jealous? Is that what all of this is about?” Krystal said and she immediately regretted those words.
“You know what, I can’t do this with you right now. Do whatever you want. I am going,” Trisha said, standing from where she was sitting.
“Yes, leave. I don’t need this negative energy around me. I thought you were my friend,” Krystal said as trisha walked away.
Trisha turned back to look at Krystal.
“I am your friend and I have always been. One day you will realize that and take my advise,” trisha said and then walked away.
Krystal was left alone. She didn’t know if she had just made the worst mistake ever by picking up a fight with the one friend she had or it was the right thing.
She hated her life there and everything that was happening.
