Preetam met Roopa again
Roopa PoV:
All the pain I hid in my heart came out through my eyes in the form of saline water. My heart ached as if If someone stabbed it with a knife several times. Missing the one whom we loved and who loved us profoundly is a curse. I couldn't describe the pain, because it could only be felt but can't be expressed in words.
I am sorry Preetam. I know I shouldn't do this with you. I can't say what my heart feels and what I am going through at this moment after leaving you. Hope I never cross your path again.
You made me feel so unique and treated me as if I am very precious. I understood your anger which is because of insecurity feeling towards me. I want you to be happy, but you want to be with me. Vinaya loves you a lot. I am sure she keeps you blissful.
I am not a person who can love you or make a family. My goals are different. My path can never meet yours. You are a perfect husband, but I can't be a good wife to you. I wish you all the best, Preetam.
I covered my face with the palm to avoid people from noticing me in tears. The pilot announced the take-off of the flight to Bangalore within ten minutes. I didn't plan to go to Mumbai. It was my plan which created a suspicion in the Preetam's mind about me. I wanted him to hate me by making Preetam feel that I didn't love him. Unfortunately, my plan turned another way, and he thought that I loved Nandu. I had no feelings for Nandu. I love Preetam, but I left Preetam and on the path of making my dreams real.
Preetam PoV:
I love Roopa very much. I tried hard to forget her and be normal. But the harder I tried, her memories struck me that hard. I said everything to mom and dad. Now, they understood my feelings. But it's too late. They called to Deputy Inspector General of Police Department working in Mumbai to find Roopa. Everyone searched a lot for her, but we didn't reach her.
I regretted hurting her so much listening to her conversation with Nandu. I felt that if I treated her with love, maybe she would have shared her fears or problems with me. I always thought from my side, but never tried to guess from her perspective. Perhaps she was in some issue, or she needed someone to help her out. I never gave a chance for her to reveal herself to me.
Six months passed by, and the court dismissed our divorce case as Roopa didn't attend for any hearing. As I can't stay in the house where I had many memories with her, I left for Bangalore for a change. We have a branch there. So, I started to work there. Vinaya understood my love for Roopa. Vinaya confessed the truth that she was the one who kept that note on Roopa's name when she left. I cursed myself for being too hard to Roopa without knowing anything. However, now it didn't matter, because BRoopa left me forever.
I went to a bakery on my way to buy a soft drink after completing a meeting.
"Give me two pizzas, and two pineapple cakes, please."
Hearing the voice, I looked that side. It's Roopa. Roopa?? Here? I tried to talk to her, but stopped seeing a guy with her. Nandu? I guessed it was Nandu.
"Hey! Roopa, did you complete your shopping," said someone placing a hand over her shoulder.
"Yes Nandu, pay for it. It's your treat man," she said smiling.
Roopa seemed happy with him. I didn't find any trace of pain for leaving me in her eyes.
"I know it, madam. Here is my card," Nandu gave it to her, and they paid the bill taking those items.
Didn't she notice me? I didn't know. She might be busy with her friend, Nandu. Jealous invoked in me.
"Sir, today we have an offer for the couple. Please fill out this coupon with your names, and if you win, you will be given tickets to Singapore," the person in the bakery said to them.
"Ok, write Mr. and Mrs. Nandu," Nandu said.
"Sir, full names, please."
"Write Nanda Kishore and... " Nandu paused and looked at Roopa. Roopa behaved as if it didn't matter to her.
"And Roopa Nandakishore," Nandu said., Roopa didn't react at all and they both left in a car.
Did Roopa marry Nandu? How could she do that with me? I got into my car and followed them. They went into an apartment. I saw someone going into the same building, and I stopped them.
"Excuse me, the couple who has gone just now, do you know them?"
"Of course, I knew them. They are Mr. and Mrs. Nandakishore. A cute and lovely couple," that lady said in an admiring tone.
Bullshit! How could this woman find Roopa-Nandu bonding cute and lovely? Nandu didn't deserve Roopa. He looked like an idiot.
Enough, Preetam! I know you are jealous but don't you think Nandu is good looking and Roopa is happy with him?
My mind mocked me. That's true! Nandu didn't look that bad.
"May I know their flat number aunty?" I asked.
That aunty told me the flat number, and I went there. I rang the bell of their flat. Nandakishore opened it.
"Yes, who are you?" Nandu asked me.
"Roopa!" I said.
"Roopa, someone came for you?" Nandu called Roopa.
"Who is that Nandu?" Roopa asked from her room without coming out.
"Your name, please," Nandu asked me.
I pushed Nandu a bit and got inside the flat.
"Who are you, man? Why are you entering my house like that?" Nandu said and kept revolver to my temple.
I didn't understand who was that Nandu and why did he had a revolver with him? My heart beat raised thinking about Roopa. I hoped for the safety of my love.
Just then Roopa came into the hall and saw both of us. She didn't speak anything for some time, shocked seeing me there in her flat for six months.
"Preetam?" Roopa said.
"Preetam? Is he Preetam?" Nandu asked, and she nodded.
"Is he Preetam, your husband?" Nandu asked again.
"Yes! He is Preetam, my husband. Drop the revolver you stupid," Roopa said, passing a death glare to Nandu.
Nandu dropped the revolver.
"Sorry, darling! I don't know he is your husband," Nandu said to Roopa.
"What, man! Why didn't you say you are Preetam? What if I shoot you?" Nandu said to me, sitting on a sofa.
"You people had already almost killed me," I said looking at her.
"Preetam, please listen to me," Roopa said, moving backward to go away from me.
"Shut up, why did you leave me Roopa? What did I do? Didn't I give you love, care and everything that keeps you happy? Why did you cheat me saying you loved me? Why did you leave me?" I said mixing up my pain, anger, and regret.
"I already gave you the reasons, Preetam," Roopa said, looking at the wall, but not me.
"I am not a fool to trust your stupid words," I said.
"That's what I said. You didn't trust me. So I left you," Roopa repeated the same words.
"Really?" I said, smirking and moving towards her.
"Yes!" Roopa said this time, but with less confidence.
"Don't play with me Roopa. Still, you are my wife, I can take you with me right now," I warned her.
"I applied for divorce."
"The court dismissed our divorce case."
"Oh," she said very generally as if she already knew it.
"Take your seat. I will bring coffee, sorry you won't take coffee in the evening, right? I will bring your favourite Manchuria," she said irritating me.
"Roopa!" I shouted at her as she was behaving normally.
"Dude, wait. Take her to her room and talk. Don't shout here," that stupid Nandu said to me.
"Where is your room?" I asked Roopa.
She didn't reply, but Nandakishore showed a room to me. I held her wrist and entered into that room. I locked the door and turned to talk to her. I got shocked seeing the place. On the walls, Roopa pasted our wedding photos, and everywhere she kept mostly my photos. I gained clarity that Roopa loves me. Then why did she leave me?
"Do you love me?" I asked her, but she didn't respond.
"Answer me!" I shouted, pulling her close to me.
"Didn't I tell you that many times? I am tired of saying it these many times," Roopa said, pouting.
"Then why did you leave me?"
"Because you didn't trust me and my love," Roopa said casually.
I cupped her face. I felt terrible for suspecting her love for me.
"I am sorry, really sorry for doubting you. I won't do it again in my life. I promise you. Come, let's go to our home," I said, requesting her.
"I can't stay with you as you didn't trust me. Though I love you, I won't return to you," Roopa said.
"I love you Roopa. I can't live without you."
"You had hurt me so much, and now I have no intention of returning to you. Just leave now Preetam. You and your parents restricted me in everything and treated me as a maid. You kept all stupid rules for me. I can't stay with you and live a maid's life. I want to be free and happy.
I never uttered a word against you or your parents, though I know you were hurting me intentionally. I did whatever you said without refusing. I bore every word you said. You had scolded me for everything. You even agreed to marry Vinaya and moved closer to her to hurt me. You made me completely helpless and depressed.
If I open my mouth, even before listening to me, you started scolding me saying I have no right to question you. Your parents used to taunt me before Vinaya, though I did everything right. I can't return to that hell. Just leave me and let me be happy," Roopa said.
Every word Roopa told was correct. I had no right to ask her to come with me. But, I was sure that if she returns to me, I will set everything right. I would never hurt my wife and treat her as my queen.
"I am sorry, Roopa. Mom and dad changed now. They won't hurt you anymore. If you can't trust, then let's stay here in Bangalore in my flat. If you want I will do whatever you say. Let's reverse all the rules I kept for you. I won't do anything without your permission. I will give my mobile to you, will sleep on the floor until you forgive me. Please, Roopa, let's go to our home, I love you so much," I said madly by hugging her, but she pushed me away.
"Stay away from me, Preetam. I am not going to come with you. Now I hate you. I can't forgive you," Roopa said.
I sat on knees before her and held her both hands.
"I am sorry, sweetheart. I love you so much. I promise I will never hurt you again. I promise that I won't scold you for anything and I don't doubt you ever in my life. I will treat you like my queen. I don't allow anyone to say a word against you. Please Roopa, give me one last chance to rectify myself."
"Enough Preetam, don't force me to behave more rudely with you. Get lost from my house right now," Roopa shouted at me.
"Ok, I will leave now, but I won't give up on you. I will find out the truth behind your behaviour. I know that you still love me. You are hiding something from me and acting as if you hate me. I agree that I had hurt you, but I can easily understand that you still love me. I will surely know the truth, and then I will take you to our home to keep you happy forever," I said and kissed on her forehead.
Roopa neither stopped me, nor pushed me away. She closed her eyes accepting it. I smiled at her as it clearly showed that still, I am in her heart.
