Roopa, an IntelligenceBureau Officer
Preetam PoV:
Next day, I woke up and saw Roopa already got ready. I wished to pull her into my arms and give a morning kiss. I sighed as I didn't know when that moment will come into my life. I got fresh up and came back from the shower. I found my clothes on the table, surprising me. I wore the dress and Roopa came with coffee.
"Coffee!" Roopa said.
I smiled and took coffee from her.
"How am I looking in this sari?" Roopa asked me.
I looked at her. I was dazzled with her beauty. I didn't know whether to compliment her or not.
"Very beautiful!" I said.
I always feel Roopa is the most beautiful girl in the world in every sari she wears.
"Thank you!" Roopa said happily.
My eyes fixed on her smiling face, which made me delighted.
"Don't you feel that something is missing?" Roopa asked mocking a kid.
"What?" I asked her
"Your favourite necklace! Help me to wear that necklace brought by you, for me," Roopa said.
"Sure! But do you want to wear it?" I asked her.
"If you want me to wear it, then keep it to me by yourself," Roopa said.
I took it from the wardrobe and kept it to her neck. I went downstairs for breakfast, and Roopa served us. Mom asked her to join us. She refused first, but gave up as mom tried to apologise to her. Roopa didn't allow mom to apologise her and had breakfast with us. Mom said Roopa prepared the meal and praised her cooking skills.
I came into the room to start to the office. Roopa held my hands and kissed them.
"Preetam, I am sorry for my rude behaviour and words. I promise I will be a good wife and daughter in law. I never disrespect you or your parents. Can you please forget everything and accept me as your wife?"
I cupped Roopa's face with a smile.
"Chill, my dear wife! There's nothing to forget or forgive you. You became my wife from the day I started loving you. I love you. When you try to go away from me, I feel as if I lost my breath. You are the essence of my life," I said to Roopa, kissing her.
"I love you and thank you for forgiving me," Roopa said, resting her head on my chest.
"You didn't do anything wrong. I love you. Don't worry," I said.
"Preetam, I want to tell you something about me. I don't know how you will react after knowing the truth about me," Roopa whispered.
"Don't worry. Whatever it is, surely I won't be angry with you," I assured Roopa.
"I... I am.. A.." Roopa tried to say something, but it's unclear to me.
My phone rang, and I excused myself from Roopa, to receive the call. My manager called me saying that the contractors reached my office and I should come to the office soon.
"Roopa, let's talk in the evening. I have an important meeting now. I should leave," I said.
"Preetam, I have to go out today, shall I go? I will return, before you reach the home," Roopa said requested me.
"Roopa, you can go. No need to take my permission. But be careful and come home soon. Because I will miss you every minute," I said and gave a kiss to her before leaving for the office.
I returned to the home in the midnight because of some new project. I thought Roopa was asleep by that time. I remembered Roopa asking me to give time to say something, but because of my busy schedule, I didn't give time to her. I thought to spend time with her tomorrow and know what she wanted to tell me. I found Roopa awake waiting for me.
"Didn't you sleep yet, sweety?" I asked.
"No! I am waiting for you," Roopa said.
"So sweet!" I said, touching her lips with a finger, and Roopa's face turned cherry red.
"Why it's so late today? You didn't even tell me that you will be late to the home today," Roopa said, and I glimpsed at her admiring her love and care for me.
"I didn't mean to question you. I just.. Sorry! Don't be angry with me again. Sorry!" Roopa said, holding her ears.
"I am not angry with you, baby," I said, taking off her hands from ears.
"I know well that you don't like me asking like this. But I asked casually; I forgot that you didn't like it, sorry!" Roopa said again making me guilty for my past behaviour.
"No Roopa! It's not like that. Actually, on that day, I was angry with you thinking you were acting as if you love me. So, I told you not to question me. But Roopa, I have no discrimination towards my wife.
I feel women are equal to men. Only because I thought you might leave me, I thought to hurt you for acting in love for me. But, really, you have equal rights with me. If I can question you, you too can challenge me. You have every right to ask me. I never behave like that again and never insult you," I said, and Roopa smiled.
"So why are you late today?" She asked.
"We had some new project in the office to finalise today. I came late to the house as I took time to assign work to the team," I said.
"Okay! Go and take a hot shower. Your tiredness will go away. We will have dinner together. I am already hungry," Roopa said.
I took a shower and then we had dinner together. I lay in the bed.
"Preetam, actually I want to say.." Roopa tried to say something.
"Please Roopa, I feel sleepy. I am damn tired. We will talk tomorrow in the evening," I said and dozed off.
The next day I went to the office asking Roopa to be ready in the evening. I planned to go early to the home and take her on a date. I felt happy as Roopa finally decided to open up to me.
I was in the office, and the lunch hour, I saw the news on the TV saying that a shopping mall was captivated by terrorists and intelligence Bureau officers are trying to save the people. I remembered Roopa telling me that she will go shopping in that mall. Sweat beads formed all over my body, and I immediately called Roopa. Roopa didn't receive my call, and moreover, she disconnected my call.
I didn't know whether Roopa was safe or not. I prayed to God to save my wife. I called mom, and she said Roopa went to the mall. I didn't say anything to mom. I started immediately to the shopping mall. I went there, and the scene shocked me.
"Roopa!" I said.
I saw Roopa in police uniform with a pistol in her hand. She was giving orders to her subordinates.
"Hello control room, this is Roopa, Assistant Director of Intelligence Bureau speaking. We need the police force immediately. Over!" Roopa said and looked at me shocked.
"Madam, As the first-floor consist of toys and child products, children are there on the first floor. I think we need to start from there," Nandu said who is also in police uniform.
Roopa composed herself. She focused on her duty ignoring everything.
"Mr NandaKishore, order our team to round the mall. There should be no vehicles and people on the premises. I will be going inside to know their demands," Roopa said.
"Madam, it's hazardous to go alone. We will come with you," another officer said to Roopa.
"We are there to provide security for the public, not for ourselves, Mr Prakash. Give me the rope; I will enter into the 3rd floor first. From there, let me see how can we destroy their plan," Roopa said.
Nandakishore started sending vehicles and public from there. He looked at me.
"Shut!" he said seeing me.
"Mr Preetam, please move from here. Roopa will talk to you everything after the mission, please try to understand," Nandu said, and I went to the home hoping Roopa to reach home safely.
