Roopa’s New Mission

Preetam PoV:

I convinced Roopa and expressed my feelings towards her. Roopa understood me. We were in the car returning to home, and Roopa held my hand tight. I felt happy as she is trusting me that I will support her in everything.

Love doesn't mean just loving her. It includes understanding her feelings and giving her whatever makes her happy. We returned to our home.

"Preetam, I love you!" Roopa said, staring at me in our room.

"I love you, sweetheart!" I said, giving a peck on her soft lips.

"Preetam, you loved my volunteer work at leprosy home, right? Shall I continue that work again? Because of dad and brother, I stopped my volunteering there," Roopa said sadly.

"Do as you wish, sweety. I have no objection at all. Do whatever you love to do, and that makes you happy," I said.

I decided strongly not to bind her legs with my love. Let her fly high with her dreams and reach her destiny set by herself. Roopa should never regret marrying me. My love should not curb her freedom.

"Preetam, shall I ask you something?"

"Tell me, Roopa!"

"If you ever feel that I disappointed you with anything related to our family and my responsibility, please tell it to me directly. I will correct myself without repeating it," Roopa said.

I looked at Roopa. I understood that still, Roopa is feeling low. I guessed that Roopa might be feeling that she disappointed me in discharging her responsibility. But, the truth was I didn't feel so. I just felt that my mom and I always misunderstood her pure love. Roopa tried to keep us happy, but in return, we gave only tears to her.

"Roopa, look I am never disappointed with you. I already told you that you are the best. I mean it. One more thing is I am not going to judge you anymore. I am not a supervisor to keep a check on your activities and judge your every action. If I do so, you will feel suffocated. Let's be free from that type of stupidity.

You are a part of our family. In every family, sometimes few mistakes will happen, but the love binds them together forever. Sometimes you may do wrong, and sometimes I may do wrong. Let's learn from our mistakes. Let's correct ourselves and move on, instead of judging one another," I said, and Roopa hugged me resting her head on my chest.

"You are a blessing in my life!" Roopa said.

I needed to talk to my parents. Mom knew that arranging a Mother's Day party was not Roopa's mistake because she intended to surprise us especially mom. I would soon make them understand each other.

Roopa PoV:

I was happy with Preetam's support. I felt confident that surely one day I will make my in-laws too love me by loving them. Only love has the power to do anything.

The next day, I went to my office for the meeting where we discussed my new mission. My team and the head officer came to the conference hall. The projector was switched on, and the officer started explaining. A photo appeared there on the Projector.

"So officers, see him carefully. He is Mitra alias Adi. He is the most wanted gangster. Apart from being a gangster, he is helping terrorists to enter into our country through fake passport and planned bomb blasts in our country. We got this information through Intelligence. We can't arrest him easily as he is a reputed entrepreneur, but we need to keep an eye on his activities."

"Sure, sir, we can send one of our team members to join in his office to observe him," I suggested.

"No, Roopa! It may not help us to gather information about him. He doesn't believe anyone in his life except Shivani," the officer said.

"Who is this Shivani, sir?" Sanjana asked.

"She was his childhood friend whom he loved from his childhood. Now he found her again, and within two days he is coming to the city to take her with him. Fortunately, he didn't see her present photo. He doesn't know how she will be. Now she is in our custody."

We listened carefully to his conversation. Sir projected Shivani's photo on the screen.

"Roopa, we want you to act as Shivani and make Mitra trust you to the level where he shares his secrets."

What the hell! How could I act as his girlfriend? No, I shouldn't do this.

"Sir, I can't do this. How can I act as his girlfriend? It's not possible," I said, remembering Preetam and his anger.

I didn't want to invite any conflict between us again. Hurting my Preetan was the last thing I wanted to do.

"Roopa, we have no other option. Shivani is a family type girl, and only you can act like her. Our team had only two girls. Sanjana has another assignment to do, and we can't choose a junior for such an important assignment. Only you can do that. After seeing you fight and the way you saved people from terrorists in the mall, we selected you for this operation. This is a matter of our national security. Many big shots might have involved in this. If we find a clue, we can arrest everyone. Decide yourself, Roopa!" My head officer said to me.

"But, sir!"

"Roopa, you are one of the best officers in the Intelligence Bureau department. We can't select juniors because if anything goes wrong, they can't handle the situation. But, you can do it. Roopa, think once again. You are a dynamic officer. Don't leave your guts and courage for personal reasons," he said.

I didn't reply as I couldn't decide anything. Sir asked everyone to leave except me.

"Look Roopa; I am your trainer. I know about you. This is a great chance for us to catch the culprits who are living inside our nation."

But how could I? What if Preetam comes to know this? No husband can tolerate his wife acting as girlfriend to someone else. Just from a few days Preetam had been close to me and is loving me. What if I break his heart again? I was worried thinking all this.

"Roopa, don't allow your personal life to stop you from giving your 100% to your profession. Till now you never refused to handle any operation. Why are you becoming like this now? Just remember why you came into this IB. Our target is to eliminate every terrorist from our nation. It's a great opportunity for us to do that. You are doing it for our nation. Remember that. You are not cheating your husband. You are just acting as if you love someone, but you know well that you love only your husband."

"I am accepting this mission, sir," I said, remembering Preetam's trust and promise that he would support me in my profession.

"Remember, keep it as confidential. Don't share about this mission even with your family," Sir said.

"Sure, sir!" I said and left for the home.

I wished that the mission shouldn't create any conflict between Preetam and me.
