You are my Queen

Roopa PoV:

In the morning, I woke up in his arms. I caressed his hairs and kissed his forehead. I was about to get up from the bed, but Preetam pulled me into his arms.

"Preetam, leave me. Let me get fresh up," I said slowly looking at him with a smile.

"No, please be in my arms for some more time. What will you do waking up this early, doll? Sleep for some more time, please," Preetam said taking me into his arms.

"It's already 9 'O' clock in the morning. Not early Mr Husband," I said playfully kissing his cheek.

"I don't mind. I am sleepy," Preetam said closing his eyes and hugging me tightly.

"My dear husband, I am not sleepy. You can sleep if you want. I will get fresh up."

"What should I do by sleeping alone without you in my arms?" He said making me open my mouth wide in shock.

I blushed understanding his intention.

"Roopa, you are beautiful and very soft. I didn't want to leave you even for a second. Please be like this for some more time, please please," Preetam said with a pout, and I nodded seeing his cute face.

He drifted into sleep, and I tried to sleep again, but I couldn't. I was hungry, but seeing him sleeping peacefully, I didn't get up. Slowly I felt thirsty as I didn't have water from the night. I didn't understand how to wake him up as he is sleeping so peacefully. I stayed still bearing hunger and thirst. He woke up at 1 pm. He kissed me on my lips and cheeks. I smiled and tried to get out of bed as he woke up.

But instead of leaving me, he pulled me to the bed. He made me lay in bed and came top of me. I was not well, and I needed something to eat. But I couldn't hurt him. I decided to keep quiet and responded to him with a smile. I had hidden my pain, hunger and thirst from him and acted as if I am ready to go further again. He made love to me again twice and then left me giving a kiss on my forehead. He went to the restroom to get fresh up, and I let my tears flow as I was exhausted which I had hidden from him.

When he returned, I went and took a hot shower to relax my body. Then, I came out and didn't find Preetam anywhere. I searched for a water bottle in the room, but I didn't find. I thought to call reception, but there is no telephone there. I thought of calling Preetam, but only then I remembered that I forgot my mobile at home.

I couldn't walk to reach reception to order something. I held my stomach and sat on the bed. Everything went blank before my eyes and tears formed continuously.

I needed Preetam immediately. I didn't know where he went, leaving me alone. I went unconscious.

"Roopa! Roopa!" I heard someone calling me and felt water sprinkled on my face.

I opened my eyes, and it's Preetam.

"Water!" I said, and he gave a bottle to me.

I drank it in one go. I relaxed and shouted at my idiot husband.

"Where did you go, Preetam? Are you mad? How could you leave me alone? I never thought you were such a careless husband. I hate you," I yelled at him.

Preetam cupped my face and wiped sweat on my forehead with his handkerchief.

"What happened, sweety?" He asked softly, and I hugged him.

Preetam hugged me and caressed my long hairs.

"Now tell me why my darling is angry with me?"

"I felt thirsty and hungry. Pain caused due to our last night make-out session is killing me. You left me without considering my situation. How could you be that reckless?" I said out of irritation.

"But I went out to bring food and water for us."

"Why did you take such a long time? Did you make the food or bought the food? You can order food through a call rather than going away," I said without listening to him.

"Hmm! Yes, but I went to buy tablets for you. I knew that as you were a virgin, you would be so sore after our first night. I couldn't order tablets through a call. Our resort is on the outskirts, and it took a while for me to reach the place to get the medicine for you," Preetam said, and I hugged him.

I felt sorry for shouting at Preetam though he understood my situation without telling him. He went to bring food, water and tablets for me, but I was angry with him thinking that he left me. I smiled as I know my husband never leaves me alone even in dreams. I fell in love with my husband and this life which gave me all the happiness in the world.

"Have your food and take tablets. You will feel better," Preetam said and fed food to me assuming me as a kid.

I took a tablet and slept on his lap, holding his hands. I woke up after sometime and again, I didn't find him.

Where did he go again?

I got up from the bed and found Preetam on the balcony. I hugged him from the back.

"What are you doing here by leaving me alone in the room?" I asked.

Preetam turned towards me and hugged me. I happily rested my head on his chest, which I love a lot.

"I am sorry," Preetam mumbled kissing my head.

"What?" I asked.

Preetam didn't say anything but kissed me on my forehead, holding my face lovingly. His eyes showed a bit of guilt and apology.

"Are you fine now?" Preetam asked me.

"Yes, perfectly fine to... " I paused and continued after taking a breath.

"To be all your's again," I said blushing.

Preetam smiled, but didn't say anything. Usually, Preetam loved to tease me when I talk about something like this, but he didn't do that this time.

"Shall we go out? I planned many things for you," Preetam said.

I agreed. I was getting ready to go out in a sari. Preetam came into the room from the restroom. I froze, feeling shy as I didn't drape my sari yet. I expected Preetam to go romantic or tease me for a while seeing me in that way. Instead, Preetam picked up a cover from the wardrobe and handed it over to me. I opened it, and it was a simple light blue coloured jeans pant and a red coloured round V-necked T-shirt. I looked at Preetam in surprise.

"Roopa, I didn't know why I was authoritative towards you and asked you to wear the sari and jewellery of my name. I never meant you were my possession or something like that. I don't even like to make you wear the apparels I chose against your wish. It's entirely your wish, and you have the right to choose anything that's related to you. Not just the garments, but the job too. I am sorry. You can wear anything you want as long as you are comfortable in it," Preetam said.

That day changed my life forever. I knew that Preetam talked about the choice of dressing, but that's not the only thing. Preetam gave me the right to choose as per my wish. Either it's about the clothes or the profession or anything else. I wore the jeans pant and the T-shirt in which I usually feel comfortable. Preetam took me to the musical fountain show in Akshardham.

It was a show where music was played and the water from the fountain dance according to the laser light rays. The colours of the water changed for every few minutes. They presented a Hindu mythological story using the water and laser rays. It was a great show, which should be watched at least once in a lifetime. I enjoyed the show, and then we roamed around the Akshardham which is known for its architectural beauty. I glanced at the variations in the architecture on the walls.

Throughout the visit, Preetam held my hand without leaving it even for a second. When the crowd increased, he protectively tightened his hold. I was engrossed in enjoying the beauty of the place, where Preetam was too busy in looking at me and keeping me secured from the crowd. I loved his care for me, and overprotective nature, as it's in limits and comfortable for me.

After the show, he took me to a restaurant. He ordered my favourite dishes. Dumplings, chilli paneer and vegetable rice are my favourite, and we had it together.

"Preetam, do you like same dishes, or you can order something else," I said to Preetam.

"I love to taste the food which my baby loves. Let me know her and her tastes completely," Preetam said making me smile.

We had food and started in our car again. He held my hand and drove the car with the other hand.

"Preetam, focus on the driving, please," I said patting on his wrist. Preetam winked with a smile.

"Don't worry. I will drive carefully. Because my queen is with me and protecting her is my responsibility," Preetam said and kissed my hand.

I blushed at his words.

How could he be so sweet? I loved the words "My Queen". Can someone grown up in this patriarchal society address his wife as Queen? Quite impossible! Mostly, the men in India treat wives as an unpaid servant.

A cool breeze touched my left cheek pulling me out of my thoughts before I go into the details of the position of a woman in the society. My eyes fell on the roadside golgappa stand. My mouth watered seeing it. Golgappa is a famous street food all over India loved by many youngsters often referred to as panipuri.

"Preetam, I want golgappa," I almost shouted, making Preetam halt the car with a sudden jerk. I giggled and earned a glare from him for my childish act.

"No, sweetheart! Roadside food is not good for health," Preetam said.

"I want it," I said, giving my most innocent look to him.

"No!" Preetam said softly.

"Am I your queen?" I asked.

"Of course, sweety!" Preetam said.

"Your queen is ordering you, buy me a plate of golgappa," I said in an authoritative voice.

"Ok, your Majesty," Preetam said in a dramatic style. I laughed at his gesture of saluting me as if he saluted a queen.

We went to the golgappa stand parking our car aside. Preetam ordered two plates of golgappa. The vendor took a small sized Puri and pressed it with his thumb to make a hole in it. He stuffed the potato and peas curry into it along with pieces of raw onion, tomatoes, mint leaves, carrot and sev (a snack made with chickpea flour and salt). He immersed it into a juice made up of water to which the paste of green chilli, cumin, mint leaves, salt and tamarind.

He gave it to me. I savoured the golgappa enjoying the mixed taste which is sour, spicy and sweet. I played with Preetam by making him feed his golgappas to me. I enjoyed my second day too with him a lot. I just wanted to be his queen lifelong. I felt sleepy and rested my head on his shoulder, holding his arm while he was driving the car to the resort.
