Chapter 22- A date
Giovanni O’Connell returned home that evening frustrated like never before. For a split second, he thought he had finally crumbled the wall the blonde had built, and right when he was about to have his way with her, her walls were back up, but this time with thicker bricks, and in consequence, leaving him with a boner.
The carefree atmosphere that surrounded the Watford kitchen suddenly vanished when Topaz and Unika saw the young man walk in. quietly, he walked to the huge double doors mahogany fried and took out a bottle of water, downed it in one go then proceeds to throw the bottle in the sink.
“You know my mom hates it when you mess up the Kitchen” the teen replied to Giovanni’s actions.
“Oh, so now you acknowledge me” Giovanni O’Connell knew that his actions will draw both girls' attention.
Topaz rolled her eyes at his statement and focused her attention back on the little and Unika does same.
The young man scoffed in disbelief. “Seriously? That’s the attitude I get” he asked but was met with further silence. The young man threw his hands in the air in a defeated way before storming off to his room.
The following morning, the dashing young man woke to the bussing of his phone. Frowning, he sleepily tapped the bedside cupboard until he got a hold of his phone, but the call ended the moment he was about to answer.
Sighing, he threw the phone to his side and went back to sleep, but he was once again interrupted by his ringing phone.
“Hello” answered the young man in a sleepy and groggy voice. Slowly, Giovanni’s eyes began to close, but something the person on the other end said made him alert and wide awake and he stood with a gasp.
“What mail?” he inquired, pressing the phone to his ear whilst he struggled to get rid of the duvet currently wrapped around his body. He ferociously searched through his MacBook pro for any mails he might have missed.
“I’m looking at it, George. There’s no mail regarding, not even in my spam” Giovanni replied with firm conviction.
He paused for a while, listening to the person on the other end. “I meant what I said the last time. I have been acting as Manager for Durrell Real Estate Company for over six years now and I think I have proven my worth to the other board members and advisory board. I have done in two weeks what the others couldn’t do in two months. The proposal I sent was good, so why do they keep insisting that she comes over?” Giovanni questioned with a frown on his face.
The young man rolled his eyes in frustration as he listened to the man on the other end. “I know what she is to me, you don’t have to remind me of it” the young man defended then paused for a while.
“You know what. I don’t bloody care. I don’t care what you do, just make sure she doesn’t come here, I have everything under control” he finalized and without waiting for a response, Giovanni hung up.
He stashed away papers on his desk to express his frustration. He had no idea why the board insisted on sending over a particular someone. He knew the relationship he had, but that didn’t mean he needed her everywhere he went.
He grumbled to himself. It was barely nine in the morning and his day was already ruin.
By twelve noon that day, the young man had showered and managed to get some food in his system and even managed to cover a portion of his work load. He had managed to secure another appointment with the mayor to discuss further modalities and a way forward for the business deal.
It was exactly four p.m. when the young man rounded from the meeting with the Mayor and he was currently making his way to the pub, hoping to run into the blonde and maybe talk her into hearing him out.
“Hey” Giovanni was currently seated at the counter of the pub when he spoke up.
“Hey” the voice replied, placing before him a small glass.
The young man frowned. “Where’s Gwendolyn” he questioned as he watched the girl fill his glass with tequila.
“Oh, she’ll be checking in soon. I work here part time” the girl replied with a smile on her face. Giovanni nodded as he picked up the glass and gulped down its contents. He felt the seat next to him being occupied, but the young man didn’t bother to acknowledge who sat near him, and it wasn’t until the voice spoke up that Giovanni recognized it.
“Hey, Mason. How is it going?” the young man replied to Mason’s greetings and completely turned so Mason had his full attention.
This was too much for Mason to handle as he literally sank in his seat, falling miserably at hiding the blush that crept to his cheeks.
“Nothing. How did it go with Reik? Did you get what you wanted?” Mason inquired. He knew why Giovanni had asked to see Hunter yet he decided to act as though he was clueless, mainly because he didn’t know what to say now that he had Giovanni’s attention. More so, the rumors which spread like wildfire after that night was all the confirmation he needed.
“Not quite. But I’m hoping Hunter gets it sorted out” Giovanni O’Connell replied, momentarily turning his attention to the waitress as she filled his glass.
“Oh, okay” Mason uttered.
An awkward silence filled the air between both men. One could tell that Mason had something on the tip of his tongue, begging to be set free, but the young man feared the reaction he would get from Giovanni. But after a while, Mason who had been quiet about it felt there was no right time to express his feelings.
“Hey, Gio. I have something to tell you” Mason began, immediately gaining Giovanni’s attention
"Yeah, sure" Giovanni said.
The young man cleared his throat. "So, uh.. I don't know how to else to say this so I'll go straight to the point" Mason rambled on, earning a sly smile from Giovanni.
"Mason, you're rambling" he stated, making the young man blush.
This was it. There was no going back. He had come this far to back down.
"Go on a date with me" it wasn't a question from Mason, but rather an order and Giovanni wasn't sure how to react to it.
