Sierra is angry
To say that Sierra Eleanor Clifford was furious was an understatement. The brunette was raging mad. One could literally see flames leaving her body.
The sight before her made her stomach churn in disgust and anger.
She had left the pub after Wren left in anger and Giovanni followed after her. The thought that something might be going on between the love of her life and Wren never crossed her mind and now that she was witnessing it first-hand, she didn’t know how to react to it.
Her coming to Craigsburg was mainly to surprise Giovanni, but since coming, the young man has been distant and would not even want to spend time with her, almost as though her presence was psychically aching to him and he wanted her gone.
She choose to ignore it and blame it on the fact that his attitude had to do with their very demanding CEO who turned out to be her father. Today though, the brunette was in her room, going through some emails when Giovanni walked in and asked her to get ready so they could spend the day together.
She thought to herself; maybe things will be like they were before she left Kansas. And for a while, it did. He took her site seeing and by the end of the day, Sierra was convinced she knew every angle of Craigsburg.
She was happy. Every second spent with the man she loved was a second of pure bliss.
Then, he had asked that they visit one last spot before retreating home. Sierra thought from the pub, they would return to the Watford mansion for a wanky panky session. But right now, what she was witnessing proved her otherwise and hurt her very bones.
She felt insulted. And no one insulted Sierra Eleanor Clifford. Especially not some man who depended on her father’s money for his every leisure. The brunette wanted to march over to them and lash out with her anger. She wanted to pull Wren by the hair, scream to her face to leave her fiancée the fuck alone.
But she stopped herself from doing that.
If there’s one thing she has come to understand in the few days of being in Craigsburg, was that news flew fast. Faster than a running stream. And she would hate to be the talk of the town over this.
She wanted to leave that honour to Wren.
A voice coming from behind made Sierra’s heart drop to her chest as the brunette turned with a frown on her face, whilst simultaneously placing a hand over her chest.
“What the hell,” she asked, coming face to face with a face she didn’t recognise.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you” Luke’s voice was calm as he spoke.
Sierra didn’t acknowledge his apology. Instead, she studied him.
He was skinny. Sierra wasn’t sure if the bones on his neck were a result of malnutrition. But at the same time, he didn’t look like someone the brunette would normally put in that category.
“I’m Luke. Sure you’ve heard of me” the young man stretched out his arm, but immediately retreated when he noticed the girl didn’t look too apt to shake it.
“And you are Sierra” he added, making the brunette frown.
How did he know who she was? Sierra wondered to herself.
“How-“
“How do I know who you are?” he questioned with amusement in his voice. “This is Craigsburg, news flies,” he said as he folded his arms.
“Ah, should have figured that out” Sierra murmured to herself, making Luke tilt his head quizzically.
“What was that?” he asked.
“Never mind. Well, nice chat Luke. Bye,” Sierra was about to walk past Luke and back into the pub but he firmly grabbed her arm, making her freeze. Panic flow through her vein.
“I’m sorry. Didn’t mean to scare you” Luke quickly let go of her arm, and only then was Sierra able to breathe.
“I just want us to talk,” he said.
Again, Sierra frowned. What could he possibly have to say to her? Regardless, she wasn’t interested in hearing it. She just wanted to walk back in and bury her heartache in alcohol.
“I know heartbreak when I see one. And something tells me it has to do with those two over there” Luke pointed in the direction of Wren and Giovanni. Still, Sierra didn’t turn.
“I know how you feel. I gave her my all and she hurt me and I want to take my revenge on her” he added, not giving a damn that the girl looked totally unfazed by his words.
“And judging by how hurt you looked, I bet you want to take revenge on him too. You don’t look like the kind of woman to let things slide” he pressed on.
He was right. Sierra wasn’t one to let things slide. Especially not public humiliation. But then again, she didn’t need a malnourished-looking guy to help her take revenge on them. She could do that on her own.
“Well, Luke? Is it” she questioned and only continued when the young man nodded. “I’m sorry you had to go through that, but I don’t see what it’s got to do with me. So, I’ll appreciate it if you kept me out of it. Thank you” Sierra didn’t wait for his reply and quickly walked past him.
She walked frantically into the pub, headed straight for the counter where she picked up her bag and spoke to Gwen before leaving.
“Tell Gio I couldn’t wait for him,” she said and before Gwen couldn’t acknowledge or ask her any questions, she was gone.
Back outside, Sierra frowned when she realized that Giovanni and Wren were no longer locking lips. Matter of fact, there was no one there, and for a split second, Sierra’s mind made her believe that she didn’t just see her boyfriend kissing another girl.
But her aching heart convinced her otherwise.
The brunette sighed to herself and began descending the stairs. She had only taken a few steps when his voice stopped her, and when she turned, he gave her a look that broke her heart even more.
