Chapter 66 - plans
“Shut the front door! Shut the fucking front door” Gwendolyn Jefferson exclaimed with her mouth wide open as she rounded the counter and met Wren on her chair. With joy-filled her heart, she took her friend in a tight hug.
“I am so happy for you,” Gwendolyn said, although she felt like her words weren’t doing any justice to the joy she felt in her heart.
This is all she ever wanted for Wren. To be genuinely happy. She deserved that after everything she has been through and the smile she had on her face was large.
Something the dark-haired had not seen in years.
Gwen’s eyes began to water. “I’m so happy for you” her voice wavered.
“I am happy too Gwen. It feels so surreal” Wren admitted.
“But, I kind of hate the fact that it took him so long to get his brain out of his ass and man up,” Gwen said.
“Ah, I knew that was coming” the blonde mocked and together, they fell into a line of laughter.
Sierra Eleanor Clifford stood on the threshold of Teq’s pub, witnessing the smile that was on Wren’s face. For the past few days, she has had to cry herself to sleep because of the way Giovanni had been treating her.
He left the mansion one day and didn’t come back until days later. Ironically, so did Wren and they happen to return together. It didn’t a genius to know that they were together.
And so, Sierra Eleanor Clifford had nothing to do the past days than cry herself to sleep, will herself to work and deal with the displeasing stares from Topaz, Unika and Nanna Denis. She has also noticed the change in their behaviour.
And what’s worst, her father had called her, expressing his disappointment in her behaviour. She has been unable to concentrate on the project that took her to Craigsburg and instead based her entire thought around a man.
He had never spoken to her like that and all because of Wren, Giovanni called her dad and he had, in turn, called her.
Sierra Eleanor was furious. At Wren. At Giovanni and everyone in his household. To her, she had been nothing but nice to Wren, the same as she had with Giovanni’s sister, but they’d switched up on her and made her look like a fool.
And nobody, made Sierra Eleanor Clifford look like a fool.
She was about to match to where Wren Austin and Gwendolyn Jefferson sat and give them a piece of her mind when a hand abruptly got a hold of hers and pulled her outside.
At first, fear washed over her, but it was only when she came face-to-face with the person that kidnapped her that she was able to react.
“What the actual fuck is wrong with you Luke” the brunette spat out, abruptly shrugging Luke’s hand away from her.
“You should be thanking me. I just saved you from doing something stupid” Luke’s reply came in almost immediately.
“Like hell you were. Step aside, I’ve got a thing or two to say to that bitch” she fired. When Sierra Eleanor put her mind to something, she didn’t stop until she’d gotten it out of the way, but now it was impossible with Luke blocking her path.
“What? The slap she gave you the last time didn’t sink in?” Luke’s statement managed to shut the brunette up.
Of course, she remembered the slap. How could she not? It was the first time she’s ever received a slap across her cheek and for some hours, she thought she would go deaf.
“I know seeing her makes you angry and I understand that, but I need you to think thoroughly about what you want to do. Harassing her in public will just put you in Giovanni’s bad books and I know for a fact you don’t want that” Luke explained.
Oddly, she found what has been saying to be thoughtful. She was about to act in the heat of the moment forgetting that her actions will push Giovanni further away from her.
“You want to have your revenge. So do I, but we need to be smart about it” Luke now whispered because he noticed someone walked past them and that person seem to be interested in whatever they were saying.
“We can't talk here. Let’s go somewhere private” Luke took a hold of Sierra’s hand and began to walk ahead when once again, she shrugged her hand away from his.
“Like hell, I will. I’m not going anywhere with you” the brunette stated then folded her arms with a pout.
Luke let out a disapproval scoff. “Are you being for real now?” he asked, and when it didn’t look like the brunette was going to make any movement, he added.
“Clearly you don’t expect us to discuss some machiavelous plan here in the open” the lanky-looking man explained.
The brunette pondered for a while before freeing her arms and walking ahead. Luke let out a sigh of relief and followed behind her.
“So this plan of yours, let's hear it,” Sierra said the moment they were further away from the crowd and in the dark, where no one could see them, but they in return could see everyone who walked past them.
“It’s simple. You want to tear them apart and the easiest way to do that is through Wren”
“Yes, true. Still, what do you plan to do?” Sierra inquired.
“You don’t want to know the details, trust me. But I assure you, this plan will work” Luke convinced.
The brunette pondered for a while. “Looks to me like you have everything figured out and don’t need my help. So good luck with that, yeah” Sierra had already started walking when Luke look called out.
“I’ll need something from you” Luke’s voice stopped her dead in her tracks.
“Something strong, to make her unconscious for the plan to work”
Sierra’s mouth flew open. Reality washed through her and she understood what Luke had in mind and she didn’t know if she could be a part of it.
Yeah, she couldn’t stand Wren. But at the same time, her hatred for Wren didn’t run that deep.
“Get that and leave the rest to me” with that, Luke was gone.
Sierra Eleanor Clifford stood there, wondering if she could do something so vile to another woman.
All for the sake of a man.
