Chapter 114

**Blue**

I have three babies. It’s a strange thing to accept when for so long the babies had been inside me. I mean I knew they would come out at some point but it was almost like it didn’t feel real until now. Three healthy babies and a lifetime of responsibility to look forward to. Oh gosh, how am I going to do this? Three babies and Lilly? She has needs too! How am I going to be able to be a good mom with so much going on? When will I even sleep?

“Blue?” Artemis’s voice forces me to take in a breath.

“Yeah?” I give him a quick glance but not long enough for him to see the expression on my face.

“Are you okay?” He asks and as much as I want to battle these feelings alone, I don’t want to lie.

“I’m scared.” I admit. “What if I can’t do this?”

“If anyone could do this it’s you. All the bad things you have been through proves how strong you are, and you won’t be alone. You have me and my sisters. All of us are going to be here.” Artemis wraps his free arm around me.

We sit together for a little while before a nurse comes in to have the doctors look the babies over again. There is also someone who helps me with feeding the babies. Selene latches on right away and so does Damion, but Eros has a little trouble. They told me it’s okay to supplement with formula if I need to but pumping often can help promote more milk production to be sure the babies get everything they need.

After we’re left alone again the babies start to get fussy and Artemis takes his first crack at changing a diaper. There is a lot of muttering and cursing but eventually he gets it right. Those classes we took helped in that area or it would have been a much bigger mess. A little later Artemis gets a call and steps out of the room for a minute.

I have all my babies in their cribs next to me and I can’t look away from them. They’re so small and have such sweet little faces. I can already see how much Selene looks like Artemis, but the boys have a bigger mix of me in them too. Eros starts to fuss so I try to reach for him, but it stretches my stitches making me feel a shot of pain. The pain killers help but that hurt. I’ll have to call a nurse, I guess.
Before I can press the button, the door opens, and someone quickly walks in and closes the door behind them.

“Um, I’m sorry who are you?” I ask.

The person has a hat, face mask, and sunglasses which immediately makes me nervous. I press the nurses button several times but the person steps toward me.

“You can’t be in here! I’ve already called for someone, so you better not do anything crazy!” I yell at the person.

They tilt their head and chuckle. “I’m not scared little girl.”

Their voice is muffled thanks to the mask, but it sounds vaguely familiar.

“Who are you? What do you want?” I yell.

“You destroyed everything! If it weren’t for you nothing would have changed, but you had to screw everything up. How did a slut like you convince him to destroy his family?” They yell.

I open my mouth to ask what they’re talking about but they pull something out of their pocket. The metal shines from the light coming through the window and it’s as if the world slows. They don’t seem to care about the babies, and I want to keep it that way. I throw the covers away from my legs and pushing through any discomfort I push myself to my feet and stand.

“Who are you?” I ask them calmly.

“I guess since you’ll be dead soon, I can show you.” They keep their weapon fixed on me as they pull their disguise away.

“Tet?” I’m shocked to say the least.

“Don’t call me that! We are not family! You have no right!” He yells.

He’s shaking with anger, and that includes the weapon. He’s waving it around now. I hold my hands up to try and focus his attention, but by the look of him and the smell…he isn’t in his right mind.

“What happened?” I ask him carefully.

He scoffs. “What happened? Let’s see my parents lost everything and ran off with my little sister. My wife has filed for divorce because she doesn’t want to be connected to this family anymore. She gets twenty million dollars when we divorce but since our stocks are tanking, I can’t pay it. Everything I have was in this company and now I have nothing!”

Where the hell are the nurses or Artemis?

“I’m sorry, but I promise you that I never wanted any of this to happen. I love Artemis and that is the only thing I ever cared about. Please don’t do this.” I beg him.

“You can plead all you want but it won’t fix what you’ve done!” He moves closer until he’s so close that his weapon is only a couple inches away from me.

He tilts his head again and looks me over. “I wonder how much my brother is willing to pay for you. I mean he has what he needs to get his inheritance now. He’s been married and you’ve given him children. Your job is done.”

The look in his eye shifts from anger to interest and not the good kind. When he reaches out and tries to touch me, I jolt away but that makes him mad and instead he grabs me by the side of my neck and pulls me closer to him.

“You might want to cooperate, or things will get very messy.” He glances over at the babies and a sinking feeling hits me.

He is willing to hurt our babies if I don’t help him.

“I had planned on coming in here and giving my brother a taste of his own medicine, but now I think a little bit or reimbursement for my troubles is in order. So here is what we’re going to do…”

He unzips the hoodie he’s wearing and throws it at me. “Put this on. NOW!”

I do as he says and then he hands me the hat and sunglasses. He keeps the mask for himself but gives me enough that people won’t recognize me. When I was awake enough, I was given a special pajama set instead of the normal gowns. So, if you didn’t pay too much attention it would look like I came to the hospital in my pajamas.

“Let’s go.” He waves the weapon between me and the door.

“How are you going to sneak me out without anyone seeing?” I ask him.

He chuckles. “Haven’t you wondered why no one has answered your call?”

I turn the doorknob and pull the door open slightly to see the nurse station empty. Where did they all go?

“What about the babies? I can’t leave them if no one will come for them.”

“Shut up! I don’t give a damn about those kids. Now move.” He presses the weapon into my back forcing me forward.

I glance over my shoulder at my babies one more time before I continue forward and out of the room.

Where is Artemis? I thought he was just taking a quick call, but he isn’t around anywhere.

“Move it.” Tet pushes me forward.

We start down the hallway, but he moves to my left side and wraps an arm around me with his weapon pressing into my ribs. I’m moving slow thanks to my surgery, but he must not know about it because he keeps trying to move us faster.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” He hisses at me.

“I just gave birth to three babies.” I snap at him.

He presses the weapon harder into my side but starts to look around. “There.”

He leads me to an empty wheelchair and motions for me to sit. I do as he says, and we continue down the hallway toward the end where there is a sign for the elevators.

I expect him to take one, but he turns a different direction. We go down a separate hallway and turn again into a large room of elevators. They look big enough to hold twenty people. He presses the button and when the elevator arrives, and the door opens it’s empty. We go inside and he selects the basement floor.

My mind is racing trying to figure out a way out of here or to get a message to someone but how? I’m out gunned, literally. The only thing I can think of is trying to run but in my condition that doesn’t seem like a viable option either. So, I’m left with waiting until Artemis finds me because he will. I know he will.
