Chapter 89
**Blue**
By the end of our shopping trip we have several carts full of stuff and delivery set up for the things we can’t move ourselves. Artemis and I picked everything out to furnish at least three of the bedrooms for kids, and to make our room look a little nicer. It was a big help having Abigail with us though since she seemed to have a good eye for this stuff. When we got to the kitchen section I found a set up that I really liked and we bought everything that they showed in it.
Now that we’re done, I’m feeling wiped out and ready to crash.
“Did you want to stop at-“Abigail starts to say but I raise a hand to stop her.
“No more. I can’t shop anymore.” I give her a pleading look which makes her laugh.
“Okay, okay! No more shopping today. Can you tell me though why you guys bought so much stuff for kids’ rooms? Is there something you need to tell me? You can’t be pregnant already!” She starts to sound a little hysterical, so I quickly shake my head.
“No, I’m not pregnant, but Artemis and I have been talking about the possibility of adoption or fostering. It’s still a new discussion but given how we both reacted to the kids room stuff I think it’s safe to say we are on the same page.” I tell her.
I check on Artemis through the mirror and see a soft smile on his face. He smiles so much now, and every time I get a warm feeling in my chest.
“That’s amazing. Actually, I’m glad we went because we needed some stuff for a kids room too.” She says with a shy smile.
It takes me way too long to get what she means but when I do I gasp so loud that I startle myself.
“You’re pregnant?” I ask.
She nods. “We found out when Alan took me to the doctor to be sure I wasn’t injured during…you know.”
Her happy look falls at the reminder of us being held captive but I’m not going to let her dwell on it right now. Instead, I lean over and give her a big hug.
“That’s amazing Abby. You’re going to be an amazing mother. You’re so organized and take care of business like a champ.” She laughs and I see tears in her eyes when we finally break our hug.
“Being Mr. Rhodes-“
I wave my hand at her. “Call him Artemis when you’re off work. It’s weird otherwise.”
Artemis clears his throat like he means to object but I give him a nice glare and he focuses back on the road.
Alan snorts. “You’re whipped already brother? That didn’t take long.”
Artemis throws a hand out so fast that Alan doesn’t have time to react before Artemis smacks him in the back of the head. “I’m not whipped.”
“What do you guys mean by that?” Isn’t whipping like a bedroom thing that some people like?
I’m all for experimenting, but I think whips might be one place I won’t like to venture.
“It means that Artemis will do anything you say.” Abigail clarifies.
“Oh! I’m not sure that’s accurate. Sometimes he does things I want to kick him for.” I say truthfully.
Alan bursts out laughing, and Abigail isn’t far behind.
“Your relationship is new, and Artemis is a hard ass, so there’s still time.” Alan says.
The guys start to talk about business stuff and Abigail tells me all about her plans for their baby’s room. She smiles so much as she explains everything to me and I’m glad she is. It means she’s thinking about happy things instead of the bad that put her in the position to find out that she’s going to have a baby. When we finally make it home, Alan loads their stuff into his car, and we say a quick goodbye. We watch them leave just as Bryant and Dane pull in. I move to grab one of the giant blue bags full of our stuff, but someone faster grabs it before I can. Dane is next to me and giving me a look that says I’m crazy if I plan on carrying this stuff myself.
“I’m perfectly capable of carrying a bag.” I say to him, but he only makes a grunting sound and grabs a few more bags. “Now you’re just showing off.”
He lets out one of his usual grunts and heads for the front door with four loaded down bags. Once he’s gone, I attempt to grab one of the other bags waiting in the back but am intercepted again by another giant military guy.
“Go inside Miss Blue. We can handle this.” Bryant says.
“I can help!” I protest. “I’m not a fragile flower.”
He blinks at me for a second and I stare at him in shock. I didn’t mean to sound so defensive, but it sure came out that way.
“I’m sorry Bryant. I don’t know why I got so upset.”
“It’s okay Miss Blue. You have been through a lot and you’re right. You aren’t fragile but we want to help you.” Now I feel like a jerk for yelling at him.
“Okay.” I sigh and head for the door.
Artemis is standing off to the side by the window on his phone. “What are you doing there?” I ask him.
He looks up at me and moves closer to grab my hand. “I was waiting for you. You look tired, so we are going to take a nap. It’s my fault that you’re so tired, so the least I can do is let you sleep. Plus, you sleep much better when I’m with you, so we’ll nap together.”
“You’re going to take a nap? Don’t you have a ton of stuff to do?” I ask as he drags me along with him.
“I always have things to do, and they will still be there after you’ve rested. If it makes you feel better, I’ll work on a few things while I sit next to you.”
I’m not sure if I want him sitting next to me watching me sleep but a nap does sound nice.
“I can’t believe Abigail is having a baby.” I say suddenly.
“I am surprised as well. We are always together, and I hadn’t noticed any changes in her.” He sounds a little sad about that.
“She didn’t know either, so I think you’re off the hook.” `
We walk into our bedroom and Artemis leads me to the bed before turning me so that my back is facing it. He stands in front of me and reaches up to cup my face.
“Rest little wife.” He leans down and kisses me but then I suddenly feel like I’m falling.
I grab the fabric of his shirt which makes him fall as well. He has to throw his hands out to catch himself, so he doesn’t crush me.
“I thought I needed sleep.” I point out but he doesn’t reply.
He takes my lips again and that usual hunger I feel for him starts to flare to life. The groan he makes when I lift up my hips makes my tiredness fade away. We never seem to get tired of this part of our relationship and why would we when we’re so good at it.
“Let’s make a baby and then you can rest.” He says before kissing me again.
I laugh into the kiss because what the heck? He is so determined to get me pregnant and I’m wondering if that’s normal for newlyweds. Do the husbands want to knock their wife up right away? I would think he would want to get his business situation settled before making that kind of commitment, not that I’m against it, but wouldn’t that be too much stress? Babies are a lot of work, and I don’t want to be left alone while he works his butt of every day. I would miss him, but I would also have to handle everything for who knows how long.
The idea of Abigail and I being pregnant at the same time starts to bring me around. It would be so cute if our kids became best friends!
Oh boy…he’s got me fantasizing about babies again.
“How about we dot his first and worry about baby making later?” I suggest with another grind of my hips against his.
He nods quickly. “Definitely. Let’s do that.”
I crack up laughing when he frantically starts to remove my clothes. “You act like it’s been forever since we last had sex.”
He doesn’t slow down until I’m naked and then he moves on to his own clothes. Once he’s in all his naked glory he crawls back over me and gives me searing kiss. “I’ll never get enough of you.”
Another kiss and talking is the last thing I want to do now. I fight Artemis for control of the kiss but of course he doesn’t back down, so I do what I do best…fight harder.
