Chapter 49

**Blue**

Our driver takes us the entrance of a resort hotel where we are greeted by several employees. A couple rush over to grab our bags while the rest greet us with sweet smiles. They are beautiful, and so kind to us as we enter the main building. The hotel is so amazing, but I don’t have a chance to see it all before Artemis takes my hand and starts to lead me through a side door. Everything is a blur of people as we are directed to the beach area where we’ll be able to access our suite.

“Everything was prepared according to your directions Mr. Rhodes.”

Artemis doesn’t say anything to the woman, but she is too sweet to be bothered by his gruffness.

“Thank you so much for this wonderful welcome. This place is beautiful.” I decide to say.

“You are a very special guest Mrs. Rhodes. We are happy to make your trip one to remember.” One of the women waiting for us says. “If you follow me, we can show you to your suite.”

Artemis stands off to the side looking down at his phone while I gawk at all the amazing details of this beautiful hotel.

“Blue.”

“What?” My head snaps in Artemis’s direction and see him waiting at one of the doors leading outside waiting for me. “Oh sorry!”

He keeps the door open for me and I walk as fast as I can until I’m outside. The woman waiting for us is still all smiles and doesn’t seem bothered by my distraction.

“This place is amazing.” I whisper to Artemis as we follow our guide down a stone path.

There are trees everywhere and several people coming from a path leading the other direction. The further we go I notice a few other paths leading toward another building that is nearly hidden by a huge group of trees. We walk further and pass a line of kids waiting to ride some kind of fancy waterslide. I smile at them playing around and notice a woman carrying a baby who can’t be more than a year old. She’s wrangling two other kids trying to get them settled in line, but they aren’t listening to a thing she’s saying. I’m sure all of that chaos is driving her crazy but all I see are happy kids enjoying an amazing trip with their family.

Would we ever come back here if we have a baby? I guess I should say ‘when we have a baby’ since it’s pretty clear that a baby is part of this odd arrangement we have. An arrangement that is starting to feel all too real. I know, I keep doubting everything but how can I not? It’s all too good to be true, and that usually means it is.

“Crazy kids. Our kid won’t ever act like that.” Artemis says sounding like an old man.

“They’re just having fun Artemis. It’s what kids do.”

“There is a difference between them being kids and them being undisciplined.” He says firmly.

This feels like a fight is about to start and I won’t let that happen.

“You know what? This is supposed to be fun right? Let’s table this discussion when we go back to the real world. Deal?” I hold my hand out to shake but he takes it to hold instead.

I want to be annoyed with him because of the kid comment but I become a gross Blue popsicle when he does this. Who knew holding hands would make me feel warm and giddy. It’s freaking weird and annoyingly addicting.

We continue down the same path until I finally see sand and when we move past the forest we were walking through I gasp. There on the water are the beautiful small houses floating on the water. Well not floating but you know what I mean.

“Shit!” Artemis’s curse is the only warning I get before I’m jerked forward.

I collide with Artemis just as I’m about to lose my footing but he catches me before I can end up on the floor.

“What happened?” I ask when I’m standing up right again.

“My shoe sunk into the sand and now it’s in my sock.” He says before lifting his leg and trying to brush off the sand stuck to the bottom of his dress pants.

“Did you bring anything other than…this?” I point at his work attire that he’s still sporting.

“I don’t exactly have a stash of vacation clothes lying around for a spontaneous tropical trip.”

Of course, he doesn’t, the man doesn’t do anything but work.

“Right. Well, we will have to fix that. Is there somewhere we can buy the right clothes for him nearby?” I ask the guide.

“Of course ma’am. There are a couple of shops in the main building and several stores in the main city.” She explains what the stores in the hotel offer and says she can have a few items in Artemis’s size dropped off at our room.

With that figured out, we continue on toward the long wooden walkway that leads to the individual bungalows. These things look big enough to be a small apartment not a suite at a hotel. Artemis grumbles a few more curses and shakes off a bit more sand as we walk along the dock leading further down the row of rooms. There aren’t many probably because of how big they are, and we reach the last one in only a short walk.

“Here we are. Your bags should already be inside along with all the other items you requested. Please do not hesitate to contact us for anything else. Enjoy your stay.” The woman bows to us like we’re royalty and walks off.

I stand there looking up at the little house in complete awe.

“Are you going to stay out here all night? Come on.” Artemis says ruining the moment.

For someone who hasn’t been on a tropical vacation before he sure acts like staying in a place like this is no big deal. I guess one fancy hotel room is as good as the next.

I follow him through the door leading into the room and stop instantly. The room, if you can call it that, is a nice sized open space with large double doors opened wide. The sliding doors open out to the ocean without a single thing blocking the view. There is a deck out there and a pool? A pool on the ocean? Okay, rich people are weird, but I will be trying that out later. I hope Abigail packed me a nice bathing suit and not one of the ones that barely covers my ass. Although I’m sure Artemis would mind if a bit of ass is on display.

Men…

Speaking of Artemis, I move further into the suite but can’t find him. The more I walk in though I see a door that leads to what I’m guess is the bedroom. I walk that way and see a huge bed covered in a thick comforter and a buttload of pillows.

You know what I’m about to do right? Hell yeah.

Not caring wone bit what I look like I rush into the room and jump into the center of the bed. My body sinks a good two inches into the most comfortable bed I have ever been in. I take this moment to scream into the pillows and wiggle in excitement. This place is seriously amazing, and I may never want to leave.

“I see the bed is to your liking.” I lift my head and look over my shoulder to see Artemis standing in the doorway of the room.

I roll over and lean on my hand trying to act cool. “Oh hey. There you are! I was looking for you.”

“And when you didn’t find me on the bed you…what?”

“I was doing quality control and I give this bed a ten out of ten. Want to test it?” I wiggle my eyebrows at him and pat the bed next to me.
He shakes his head once again but I see his smile before he walks around the bed and slides on next to me.

“So?” I ask expectantly.

He looks down at me and I get a real smile from him. “It’s nice.”

“Ha! You are human! Now, who do we have to bribe to get one of these beds for back home?” I lay flat on my back and do a little snow angel motion.

“I’ll be sure to get all the information from the manager before we leave. If I pay enough maybe, they’ll send us this one.”

I sit up straight and turn to face him. “Really? You could do that?”

He leans forward and smirks like the cocky bastard he is. “When will you learn that I can make any of your wishes come true, wife.”

Uh, smug asshole.

“You are an asshole, but I think I’m starting to like it.” I admit.

“I can live with that. Now what do you want to do first?” He asks before leaning back again in an attempt to look relaxed.

The man is still wearing his shoes.

“How about we break in this bed?” I say and get a truly shocked look from my new husband in reply.
