Chapter 62

**Artemis**


Blue won’t tell me what happened to her after I left her in the bathroom. I’ve been pissed at myself for leaving her, and now she’s being a brat and not answering my questions.

“Just let it go. I’m fine.” She says once again.

She isn’t fine, but she’s trying to look unaffected. I don’t know what else I’d have to do so that she knows I would never judge her. This wouldn’t be the first time she would be coming to me for comfort, so what’s changed?

For now, I decide to leave her alone, but the doubts are rolling in my head. Did I push her too far in the bathroom? Maybe she’s doesn’t feel comfortable around me after that. I got a little rough with her, but she has a way of driving me crazy that it’s hard not to get carried away. We haven’t been sleeping together long and I’m already addicted to her. All I want to do is pull her somewhere private and fuck her until she screams my name. It’s never been like this for me, and I like it. I feel free, like I don’t have to worry about all the extra drama that comes from hook-ups. Blue is it for me and that means I’m free to be me and enjoy anything I like.

At least that’s what I thought but if what we did was too much for her then I’ll have to take a step back and that is going to suck.

“We are approaching our landing!” The pilot says.

Everyone starts sitting up straight and buckling themselves in. Blue does the same but grabs my hand once she’s done. My head snaps in her direction and I see her biting her lip and her leg bouncing nervously.

“What’s wrong?” I ask her.

“The landing sort of freaks me out.” She says with a shaky whisper. “So, hold tight.”

She squeezes my hand to emphasize her point and I tighten mine in return. Thankfully the landing is smooth and Blue relaxes but she doesn’t let me go. I guess I was worried for nothing.

The men start to file out of the plane except for a few who go back into the hallway where Blue had been cornered. They return with the Colonel whose hands are zip tied behind his back. I notice a very distinct bruise on his left eye that I know for sure didn’t come from Blue. She may be a badass for going up against him but she probably would have broken her hand if she took a swing at him. They shove him toward the door and once they are gone, I lead Blue to the exit. When we step onto the stairs I spot several more soldiers and the few who are still pushing the Colonel toward a non-descript building.

“Wait!” Blue calls out suddenly.

She releases my hand too fast for me to stop her and I watch her jog down the steps and over to the men holding the Colonel.

“What are you going to do with him?” She asks them.

“That will be up to our superiors, but he will be punished.” One of the men say.

“I see. Who is the superior who will be shelling out this punishment?” She asks blinking up at the guy.

Alan chuckles behind me no doubt catching the little act she’s putting on.

“That would be me ma’am.” Another man says.

We all look over to see a man coming toward Blue. “I’m Brigadier General Luke Bright. You must be Mrs. Rhodes.”

He holds his hand out to her which she happily accepts. “Nice to meet you General! I’m Blue. Yes, like the color.”

He laughs and gives her a wide smile. I don’t like this guy.
“It’s a pleasure Miss Blue. Now I hear the Colonel assaulted you. On behalf of the Army I apologize and guarantee he will receive a just punishment.”

“I’m sure he will General, but I have a small request.” She says smiling sweetly at him.

“What would that be Ma’am?” He asks.

She leans up on her tip toes and he lowers his head to hear her. When she pulls away, he laughs and nods.

“I’ll allow it.” He tells her and then looks at the men holding the Colonel.

The release him and step back leaving their prisoner standing alone.

“Attention!” The General yells.

All the men and woman soldiers around stop and stand straight as a rod including the Colonel. Blue walks over to him and tilts her head back.

“Men like you are disgusting and deserve to suffer far worse consequences for how you speak and treat women. I don’t even want to imagine the sort of things you have said and done to the women under your command. That being said I hope seeing me now they will get a small sort of satisfaction and hopefully feel brave enough to come forward and report you. Because there is no way you haven’t done this before. So, to the point of this message…stand very still.” He looks at her confused, but it doesn’t take long for him to get the message.

Blue pulls her leg back and kicks forward as hard as she can. Her foot slams the Colonel hard on the dick sending him down to his knees with a cry. He is nearly completely bent over when Blue grabs him by his shirt to make him sit up slightly.

“Asshole.” She says before kneeing him in the chest and pushing him back as hard as she can.

I stand in shock and so does everyone else when the goliath falls backward hard and gasps for a breath.

“Holy shit.” Alan says sounding as shocked as I feel.

The men who had been escorting the Colonel walk over and force him to his feet.

“Let this be a lesson to you all. Never get on a woman’s bad side. It doesn’t matter her size; she will kick your ass.” The General says with an amused chuckle.

Some of the other soldiers whoop and laugh along with him.

“Now, it’s time to talk to business. Follow me Mrs. Rhodes.” The General says to Blue.

She walks along side him and many of the soldiers follow along with them leaving Alan and I behind.

“Did he forget that it was you who wrote the code? He didn’t even notice or greet us. Looks like your wifey is outshining you big guy.” He pasts me on the shoulder before moving past me to catch up with the group.

I stand back and watch and try to come to terms with how I feel about this. Blue charms people wherever she goes, and some men might hate that but…I don’t. Not once in my life have I enjoyed sharing my place in my business, but for Blue I would gladly step back and let her shine. With that settled I walk donw the steps to catch up. I don’t expect to see Blue until we’re inside, but I’m surprised when she appears from the middle of the crowd and jogs over to me. I stop short and watch my smiling wife walk toward me and I can’t help but smile back.

“Come on Mr. Rhodes, this is your show.” She says before taking my hand and leading me through the crowd where The General is waiting.

“Mr. Rhodes, I apologize for not greeting you properly.” He says holding his hand out to me.

I accept it and shake it firmly. “No need to apologize General, she can be very distracting.”
“I could see that being true. Now about the program…” He goes on to tell me exactly what happened as he escorts us into the building.

“Our people cut the connection as soon as it appeared and thankfully no information was taken but it’s worrisome.” He says.

“I can understand that it would be General, but I can assure you that even though it appeared that your system was being broken into it wasn’t. I designed the software myself and it is too complex for even a seasoned hacker to crack. What happened was probably the hacker trying to give the illusion of success to make you panic. Or to get your attention. I am assuming that my father was trying to figure out the nature of our contract, but as I said, everything was encrypted and protected. I do work with talented people but even they couldn’t crack my code.” I assure him.

“That is a relief but if there is a way to prevent further…illusions then I would appreciate it.”

“Of course. If you can show me where I can work I should be able to patch things here and finalize a trap that will make hackers think they have breeched but they will be downloading a very messy virus. How does that sound?”

He pats my shoulder firmly. “That sounds damn good. Let’s get started.”
