Chapter 128

**Blue**

What is going on?

Here I was expecting some yelling or fighting but got hysterical laughter instead. Are they all high? Well, probably not Iris, but she looks a little confused as well. Same girl, same.

“What is so funny?” I yell.

They all slowly calm down and it’s Rhea who speaks next.

“Blue, I know that this may seem strange, but we’re happy.”

Say what now?

“What do you mean? You guys would be getting nothing!” I remind them as if it weren’t clear.

“We know and that’s the great part. Honestly, it’s a relief. That money is tainted with bad memories for us. It’s a burden, but to someone who’s as kindhearted as you it could be a huge blessing. You’ve come from having so little to having enough money for a hundred lifetimes. You could do anything! We are happy to let that money go and let you decide what to do with it. Once the funeral is over we can finally let that time of our lives die too. It’s the last tie to what our family name used to mean, and we can live our lives. Do what you want with it all! We don’t care.” She explains while the others nod along and smile. “All I ask is that some of that goes to Iris for her to go to a good college.”

I look over at my youngest sister-in-law and smile. “Of course! You deserve to choose an amazing future for yourself.”

“Thank you.” She says softly.

I hope I can get to know her better over the next few years and see the amazing women she turns out to be.
“So have you given some thought to what you want to do with all that money?” Max asks.

I hadn’t really since I was expecting this to be a huge battle on who the money should really go to, but now that I know they don’t care about the money I know what I want to do.

“I really like the work we’re doing with the charity work and the children’s homes. It seems like something we can help even more with. If it’s okay, I want to sell everything and use that money to continue the work we’ve been doing. It’s important work and so many people need help.”

Rhea smiles and takes my hand. “See? The money couldn’t have gone to anyone better. Only you would use all that money to help others. Our grandfather finally did the right thing. Giving that money to you was the best decision he’s ever made.”

Wow…

“In other news. Blue is pregnant again.” Artemis says suddenly and everyone gasps.

Then there’s a lot of hugging and crying but this time they’re happy tears. All my anxiety melts away and makes way for excitement for the future. My mind starts to race with ideas on new projects and how much we’ll be able to do for our community. It feels so good thinking of others than listing all the expensive things I could buy. We have everything we need and that’s good enough for me. Artemis doesn’t care much for flashy things but likes things done well and made completely safe. Our house must cost a fortune but every part of it is functional and there for a reason.

He has told me many times that now he does everything to make me happy. It seems like too big of a statement, but he’s shown me everyday that he means it.

The rest of the week flies by and the funeral is truly extravagant and spoken about in every media outlet available. There were a few days where people wondered if the accident had actually been an assassination attempt or something far more interesting. The police found that there had been some issues with the engine that caused the accident. They thought we would want us to sue the manufacturer, but we didn’t. We shut them down instead.

It's been quiet lately. The triplets seemed to have been growing very well from being tiny preemies to chubby healthy sized babies. I pumped so much in the beginning that we bought a separate freezer to store it while I go through my second pregnancy. It will probably be enough to hold the triplets over for a while until they can start eating solids. I hoped to breast feed them longer, but my nips have been so sensitive since I got pregnant that it’s uncomfortable.

Artemis and I went for another scan about a few days ago and confirmed that we are having one baby this time around. It’s too early to find out the sex, but I’m having a strong feeling it’s another boy. That’s perfectly fine! Lilly loves being Selene’s only sister and they are always together. The boys are troublemakers already and I love how they drive Artemis up the wall. He tries really hard to be a good dad which means he will do anything they want to get them to smile and calm down.

Even them being this young they have learned how to manipulate him, but when they’re with me they are little angels. Mama’s boys through and through.

As I discussed with the Rhodes siblings, I sold everything that was left for me from their grandfather. We’ve already started the construction of the Little Town for those who are homeless and have even opened a clinic on the property to help with any medical needs they may have. We take every precaution though to keep our doctor and nurses safe, but the people moving into the little town have been grateful enough not to cause too much trouble.

Still Dane has vetted a few men to oversee the area and make sure that no one causes any trouble.

Rhea finally released a new book and has been doing book signings at the same cities Max’s band has been touring. Their kids were so excited to live in a giant fancy RV and have school remotely.

Athena has been enjoying mom life with her newest adopted daughter. She went to a fertility doctor and was told she had several cysts on her ovaries which could have been attributed to her inability to get pregnant. So, she has been happy to adopt and I helped her find a small girl about two years old that needed a home. She’s an amazing mom and it’s so nice when she comes over and all the kids are running round, well except for the triplets. They aren’t quiet walking yet.

Things have been going so well that it almost feels too good to be true. I’ve been waking up every morning feeling thankful for another good day.

Iris has enrolled in this amazing school for genius kids. It turns out that she’s crazy smart, and plans on studying to become an engineer of all things! I’m impressed with her every single day. She splits her time staying with us and Athena but seems very happy. I’m not sure how her relationship with their parents was but I don’t think they spent much time with her.

I hope to be a much better parent that way when I pass, they will have felt as loved as possible while I was around.

“Ready?” Artemis is standing in the doorway of our closet looking as handsome as ever.

Tonight, is the charity event we’ve been preparing for. It’s of course black tie, and that means I get to see Artemis in a full tux. I look him over and instantly feel hot all over. That is something new in my pregnancy, I’m constantly horny not that he’s complaining.

“You look stunning.” He says before sauntering in and wrapping his arms around me from behind so we can look at each other in the mirror. “I miss your old hair though.”

I loved my blue hair, but for a charity event like this I didn’t think it would be appropriate. Plus it made me look like a rebellious street kid and I’m not that person anymore. So what did I do? I died my hair back to brown but when I pull my hair half up hald down a whole section of my hair is still Blue. It symbolizes who I am now. I’m a Rhodes who runs a huge charity organization but I’m also Blue the girl with no name and no real home.

I’m proud of where I’ve come from now, and I hope to encourage girls like me to hold out hope for a better life. Rhea has been trying to talk me into writing a book about my life, but I prefer meeting these girls in person and trying to offer them a way out. I’ve been working with social workers and bringing children from bad homes to a place they can feel safe and would happily call home.

These last few months since we first started our first children’s home and now having four has been some of the best days of my life.

“I’m starting to show.” I say running my hand over the small bump poking through the shimmering fabric of my dress.

Artemis moves his hands, so they rest on my stomach and I lay my head back against his shoulder. “It’s cute.” He says with a chuckle. “I like it.”

I scoff. “That’s easy to say when you aren’t the one who’s going to blow up like a basketball in a couple of months.”

“Yeah, but I like seeing you pregnant. I think I’ll keep you pregnant as much as possible.” He gives a cheeky grin when I narrow my eyes at him.

“Like hell that’s happening unless you plan on being a stay-at-home dad.” He sort of is already but whatever.

“Happily! Go be a boss mom and I’ll handle the runts.” He shrugs like that’s not a job in itself.

“Let’s get through this pregnancy and then we can talk. How’s that?”

“Fine. Now stop admiring your own beauty and get your ass moving.” He gives said ass a smack and walks out.

I look at myself in the mirror and smile. I could never have imagined this is where my life would lead, but fate had other plans for me and it all started with a walk in the park.
