CHAPTER THIRTEEN

" You got a party invite today Miss Ava. Guess what? It's one of the biggest party that happens in New York every year , we are fortunate to be on the guest list this year. The email came in just now. I thought i should let you know so you can get ready. I hope you do not mind Miss Ava " Betty stared at her boss who looked engrossed with the paper. " You know I do not do parties Betty , you have been working with me for four years now and you still tell me stuffs like this" Ava said as she sat upright looking at some files on her desk " I am sorry Miss Ava but we can not afford to pass up an opportunity like this, it will enable us meet with top companies and encourage them to invest in us plus we need the fame" Betty pushed further hoping her boss agrees with her. "Okay fine , I will think about it , send the email to my phone" Ava said quickly smiling at Betty as a sign of assurance "I need to go home now , my kids will be home soon" Ava packed her bag quickly as she rushed out the door " I will see you tomorrow Betty " "Okay Miss Ava " Betty managed to say before Ava shut the door. Ava called Taylor immediately she got out of the company "Hello Taylor I just want to make sure my kids are home already " Ava said as she entered a taxi " We just got home, Miss Kate is with them already" Ava thanked him and hung up. She got home ten minutes later welcomed by her kids "Mummy is tired" she said jokingly as they jumped on her "How was school today Emmanuella?" she turned to Emmanuel too "And you honey, how was school?" they spoke so little as they both chorused " Fine mummy" So what has Kate offered you to eat?" " ice cream" Emmanuel replied quickly "what about you Ella?" Ava asked Emmanuella who seemed off "Talk to me baby ,should I make you noodles?" Ava carried her while she held Emmanuel' s hand walking towards the house " Ice cream " Emmanuella finally responded , Emmanuella always wanted Ava to carry her in her arms. "Mss Kate, I really appreciate you for looking after my kids" Ava smiled at Kate who was packing up her bags already "They were of best behavior Miss Ava and they are such sweethearts. I do not mind getting appointed here again " Kate replied with a bright smile " Thank you , I am so grateful " Ava dropped Emmanuella so she could open the door for Miss Kate. "You are welcome Miss Ava " Ava shut the door immediately after Miss Kate walked out , she was glad she could trust her kids with the company Kate worked with "kids let me make your dinner while you watch spongebob , she held their hands as she led them to the sitting room. Ava switched on the TV and returned to the kitchen pressing her phone, she saw missed calls which she opened quickly. They were from Betty. She dialed her number immediately "oh hey. I totally forgot Betty. I am very sorry but maybe you should go in my place. I just sent off the nanny supposed to be with my kids today " Ava said with regret "it's fine , but I can stay with the kids if you don't mind. We can not afford to lose this opportunity. I would love to babysit the kids while you are gone." Betty responded quickly " I am very grateful Betty , I really am. I will get ready then" Ava replied quickly " You still have three hours , I will see you in two hours Ava was glad she had someone like Betty always having her back , she hung up after saying bye to Betty . Ava served the noodles she made inside her kids plate " It's time for dinner. I do not have much time, I want you to eat before I leave " Ava switched off the TV as she carried Emmanuella on her shoulder . when she tried to hold Emmanuel's hand he ran off to the dinning quickly "that's my boy " He was growing so fast and having his independent moments. She rubbed his hair after lifting Emmauella up to sit. He absolutely had his father's hair while Emmanuella had her father's brown eyes "I will be right back" , Ava hurried inside her room to get dressed quickly. It has been a while since she attended a party so it was hard picking a dress. At this moment, she missed Andy so much. She quickly waved off the thought of Andy as she rushed off to shower. She quickly tied a towel after her shower then rushed back to her kids "Who wants to eat more?" she asked as she packed the empty plates "Can we watch TV now?" Emmanuel asked gulping water down his throat noisily. Emmanuella had already ran to continue with her cartoon before she could give her a reply "Go ahead Emmanuel , do you want water Ella? " Ava knew she was not going to reply so she took the glass of water to her..She heard a knock as she took away the cup from Emmanuella's hands "Hmm... who is that ? I am coming please " She dropped the cup on the kitchen table quickly as she ran to open the door " Welcome Betty , I am sorry you have to meet me this way , come in and sit please" Ava opened the door widely so Betty could come in " Emmy and Ella say hi to Miss Betty, she will be spending the night with you, make sure you do not stress her kids " Ava spoke to her kids who were more interested in the cartoon than her warning " You should get dressed Miss Ava " Betty sat quietly between the kids "please call Taylor to come pick me up" Ava said as she rushed off . She was so nervous that she had to start her makeup over again until she decided to make it simple . She tied her hair up in a doughnut shape before she wore her flat twisted hoops. Then she reached for her gown. She wore the black saravia dress she had earlier picked, stared at herself in the mirror "So much skin out tonight" Ava murmured to herself as she adjusted her cleavage, she wore her heels quickly, picked her black leather zip clutch from her shelf, then looked at herself in the mirror for the last time before going out of her room. "Wow you look gorgeous" Betty exclaimed "And your ride is waiting", she added "thank you Betty " Ava's eyes went to her kids who were sleeping already. She smiled then looked at Betty "their room is the door over there , I am sorry to stress you like this Betty , I have to leave now " Ava said quickly "it is fine , just go already.Make sure you call me." Betty opened the door , Ava hugged Betty before she stepped out with so much happiness and anxiety .
