119- Story Time – Part 1
Isabella
“A long… long… time ago” begins Antonio, his lips curled into an evil smirk. His eyes still on mine even as my leg throbbed with pain. Blood still pooling down and along my leg as it paints the floor a nice bright red. My body panting even as a coppery smell begins to fill the room causing me to gag.
Antonio now moving to pace the room even as Lucia continues to stand behind me. My gaze still on Antonio even as he moves to approach a table within the room. The sound of clinking against metal soon reaches my ears before he slowly moves to return.
Upon grabbing what he wanted does Antonio finally move to take his seat once more. Antonio moving to show me something black. The item almost like a sand but wasn’t. Antonio bringing the said item closer to me only for me to catch a whiff of what smelled like gunpowder. My eyes widening as I do.
Holy fuck! Was he nuts? Were all of them nuts?
Lucia now smirking at my reaction even as Antonio moves to avoid stepping into the vast sea of blood that was still oozing around his feet, even as he sat before me.
“Now then… where were we? Oh right, I remember now” smirking does he continue. “A long… long… time ago. There were three founding families. Each of them friends, each of them neighbors and colleagues. Together, these families managed to grow up together, their friendship strong. Their names were Dario, Stefano and Luca. Each of them brothers, yet each came from a different family. One from Italy, one from Greece and the other from America. Of course, none of that mattered to them. To each of them, they saw each other as a person and not some country to be conquered. The three were practically inseparable, joined at the hip. Together, they attended school and sports to even going as far as sharing women together.”
“Until, one day, she showed up” growls Lucia, knowing exactly who Antonio was referring to next. “A little vixen by the name of Caterina” spits Lucia, almost like the name left a bitter taste within his mouth.
Too captivated by their story do I fail to notice when Antonio moves to sprinkle the gunpowder upon my wound until a burning sensation hits me. My body wanting to scream bloody murder as he did. Gritting my teeth do I attempt to muffle my screams. Both smirking at my reaction before Antonio moves to lift up a lighter.
My face now full of panic as he slowly brings the lighter over towards my leg. My body now squirming as he moves to flick the lighter. Flames magically appearing as a wave of hot searing pain scorches my leg. The pain enough to rip the scream straight from within me.
“AHHH!”
Chuckling in amusement from seeing me in pain do I keep trying to get myself away from them. The pain unbearable. The smell of burning flesh, my flesh now reaching my nose as I cry. My body practically hyperventilating as I attempt to breathe.
Breathe Isabella Breathe. Inhale… Exhale… That’s it. Inhale… Exhale… nice and slow. I whisper to myself as quietly as I could, still attempting to calm myself down even as Antonio moves to pick back up on his story.
“Eventually, Caterina and Luca began to become close with one another. So close that they even started dating and eventually Luca distanced himself from his two brothers. Dario and Stefano. See the connection so far.”
But when failing to respond back does Antonio move to grab my chin. Lucia now moving to stand next to him as Antonio’s thumb and fingers now dig into my jaw as he moves to growl out slowly. “Pay attention to us sweet girl. We expect your full attention when speaking. As it’s bad enough that you tried running from us, now your ignoring us too.”
Nodding my head do I move to fight back the tears. Not trusting myself to speak to them as he moves to let my chin go.
“Any who” says Lucia now picking up from where Antonio left off. “It was later discovered that Caterina’s Grandfather was the biggest dealer within the weapons industry. So, looking to expand his family business did he eventually recruit Luca due to his relationship with Caterina while giving him rank. For apparently, Caterina wasn’t just some sweet and innocent girl that she claimed to be, no, she was somebody else altogether.”
“Which brings us back to Dario and Stefano. Both having learned the hard way when both returned back to Dario’s house. Having gone to run an errand for his mother who couldn’t only to stop dead in his tracks. His eyes glued to a soft orange color as he and Stefano slowly bared witness to a fire. The smell of burning wood and ash soon filling the air. Their eyes not prepared for what they saw next.”
Feeling their rage begin to burn does Antonio move to twirl the scalpel yet again. Lucia still next to him as he does. Both on the verge of losing their shit.
“Do you want to know what it was that they saw that night, sweet girl?”
Pausing with my words do I attempt not to anger them further but for some stupid reason, my mouth decided it had other plans as I move to speak back to them. A hint of sarcasm now lacing my words as I do.
“Hmm… let me see… A magical unicorn with pixies and fairies and a whole pot of gold?”
Moving to glare daggers towards me does Antonio move to lick his lips. His teeth now moving to bite his bottom lip as he huffs. Exhaling loudly through his nose like that of a bull. Lucia following suit as he does.
“WRONG!”
Then out of nowhere does Antonio move to strike me. With scalpel still in hand do I instantly feel the connection. BAM!
