56- I’m Sorry, Isabella Who Now? - Part 2
Lucus
Two days later…
After spending our fair share of time within the town of Silvertone, everyone had diligently put in the time and the work to search all the local shops, every car as well as every home that they could, hoping and praying to find any sort of clue at finding someone who fit the description of our Queen, even going as far as to ask the local town folk who all but gave the same answer.
“I’m sorry, Isabella who now?”
Frustrated, we all decided to grab a quick bite to eat at a local diner as we had all but decided to head back to our local AirBnB and try again another day, a diner now known as The Nightingale sat nestled near the borders of town. Nicer than most places we had seen, we decided on checking it out.
When entering the diner, I was instantly greeted by a woman who all but tries to flirt with me, my annoyance level rising as I simply move to roll my eyes, the need for a good bourbon now calling to me as Grant moves to speak up. “Two tables please, One for four and the other one for six if you could.”
“Sure thing sweetheart, right this way please” giggles the girl as she moves to show us to our seats, my eyes now noticing that we’re seated more towards the middle of the diner but still off to the side where no one could bother us as my eyes move to look out one of their windows a quaint patio overlooking a garden made me think of home.
Sighing I move to focus my attention back on the waitress having come around to collect drink orders as well as pass out menus surprised that they actually had decent liquor selection here which all but instantly makes my day better. With drinks now ordered we each move to look over the menus, a note labeled “Glitter Surprise” made me all but think back to when Isabella had done her little glitter bomb prank, a smile now tugging at my lips as it did.
Intrigued by the note, I decide to order the Glitter Surprise as does Alex and Tony, Grant deciding on ordering the duck. Snob, yet it was one of the many reasons that we loved him. Jotting down each of our food choices, the waitress moves to put in our order.
And after about 30 minutes or so, our food all but arrives at out table, the rich aroma of food making its way through the air all but made my mouth water but no sooner does my plate touch the table do my eyes take in the sight, for there sitting on my plate was not only a well cooked burger and fries, but, there also fucking glitter all over the plate, frowning I’m about to complain when the waitress moves to giggle, “Don’t worry it’s edible” was all she implies before moving to give us our space.
Glancing to both Tony and Alex we each move to take a bite of our food only to moan, for sure enough the glitter was indeed edible as the burger itself instantly melts against your tongue, the meat cooked perfectly as it melts in with different spices as well as the cheese, another moan rising from my throat when I all but wonder when Isabella had time to learn how to cook like this.
Probably when she vanished for six months, I moved to scold myself, knowing a lot could happen during then as well as someone learning how to cook a proper meal in the process. My focus now on the meal as I all but move to devour it.
And after another hour or so, we finally move to finish our meals, our bellies now full as the owner of the joint comes over to speak with us, “Hello, and welcome to the Nightingale, I am the owner of this hereby establishment, how was everything, I hope our edible glitter didn’t turn you off too much”
Chuckling I moved to calm her nerves, for while the glitter was indeed a surprise it was also as if it had been calling from the heavens as it literally smacked us in the face, as if taunting us of Isabella’s signature prank. The glitter bomb.
“No, in fact it was actually one of most delicious meals I’ve had all week” I admit to her for while the maids all back home seemed to clean and cook we always felt like something was missing during our dinner time meals, that something being Isabella herself.
“Oh how wonderful, I’m so glad you enjoyed” chimes the lady, a smile on her face as we all move to watch a mid-age woman maybe no older than 50 stand before us, her hair brown with hints of gray and her blue-green eyes smiling cheerfully at us as she stands about 5’4, reminding me of mother for she was also on the shorter side of the family.
“Excuse me Ma'am” tried Tony only to be scolded by the owner.
“Please, call me Lucinda, the word Ma’am always makes me feel old” replies Lucinda as she moves to look at Tony.
“Apologies, Lucinda, you wouldn’t by chance know the name of your Chef would you?” asks Tony again, adding a bit of his million dollar smile into the mix hoping to swoon her into telling us.
“But of course” claps Lucinda, her smile growing. “She’s just the sweetest little thing, comes all the way from Boston, bless her heart. She goes by the name of Katherine, Katherine Rose.”
Nodding, Tony takes what he can just as Alex moves to speak up next, “Amazing, what made her want to move all the way here when she had such an amazing life in Boston?” asks Alex, his eyes now glinting with the presence of the devil knowing fully well that this lady was being lied to by their Queen.
“Pish Posh, she doesn't live directly here in Silverton, she has a tiny home just on the outskirts of town, the poor dear.”
“You don’t say” murmurs Alex, his mind now planning all the mischievous things he would do once he finally got his hands on her. “Either way it sounds like you found yourself a gem” adds Alex for good measure, his eyes now giving her that signature playboy charm making me all but roll my eyes as I try not to gag.
“Oh yes, a real gem, her presence here has been so wonderful, after showing up here during these last two months has really made all the difference. And those burgers, mmm delicious, who knew adding edible glitter could make it so much fun” gushes Lucinda, her eyes lighting up each and every time she spoke about our Isabella, too bad for her we would be taking her back home with us.
Smiling, I move to ask her the million dollar question, the one that would allow us to know for sure if this Katherine was indeed our darling Isabella. “I’m sure it’s against company rules, but I would love to meet this Katherine of yours if it wasn’t too much trouble. I’d like to personally pay our respects to the woman who created such an ingenious idea” I move to say, now flashing her my own dazzling smile.
“Of course, Of course, for you I’ll make the exception” answers Lucinda with a smile, her eyes now looking for the lady who served us before flagging her over. “This here is Claudia, she was the one here helping you, please when you're done, just flag her over to you and ask she will fetch you Katherine.”
Then just as they had come do they both move to leave, leaving us to enjoy what was left of our meal, Tony almost instantly searching the web for a Katherine Rose, realizing it was nothing but a fake name to hide her true identity from those who didn’t know her, does Tony waste no time in sending armed guards over to scope out her place.
Satisfied with our new given knowledge do we move to wave down Claudia, a smile on her lips as she moves to bring the bill, handing her cash we then ask for to bring us Katherine in which she nods moving to close out the bill before heading towards the back our eyes now trained on the kitchen door as a beautiful woman no taller than 5’6 comes bouncing past the door, our eyes taking in the fake red wig that hid her natural long blonde hair from site as she comes bouncing over to our table, dressed in the typical chef clothing she all but halts the moment she reaches our table her once bright blue-gray eyes now hinting at fear as my lips curl into a smirk my voice moving to greet her a I did.
“Hello Agapi Mou (My Love), Long time no see.”
