57- Surprise!
Isabella
Beep… Beep… Beep…
Groaning, I can't help but roll over as I attempt to bury my head beneath my pillow, the annoying sound of my alarm now blaring at me, signaling to me that it was officially time to get up or else I would be late for work.
“Alright, Alright, Geeze” I groaned, moving to turn off the alarm as it continued to beep. “I’m up, I’m up.”
Gathering my thoughts I move to slowly sit up, my eyes moving to gaze just outside my bedroom window just as the sun slowly begins to rise. A smile now creeping along my face as I slowly remember where I was, Silverton, Colorado. A quaint little town with less than 800 people made being here a breeze as nobody from here knew anything about me or where I had come from. It honestly made living here one of the best decisions ever.
Moving to stand I move to gaze just outside my bedroom window my mind reliving through that day when I had all but ran from Lucus and the others, having gone speeding with my little red car, I moved to follow the instructions, the instructions telling me which way to go as I continued to drive for about almost 4 hours until eventually landing here and to this quaint little home.
After arriving I had gone to investigate that big huge envelope that Lucifer had given me that night during my escape only to gasp when I saw stacks of money, shakenly I had moved to count each bill only to count $30,000 in total, enough to help me get by until I could manage to find a job, then along side the enormous amount of money I had also been given a new identification card with the name Katherine Rose, while in the picture it showed that I had red hair, something I did not clearly have and since I was so fond of my long blonde hair I had decided to buy a red wig to cover up my hair when out in the eyes of the public.
Smiling I couldn’t have been so lucky that was until I came across a bank card a well, a card issued under my fake alias’s name while housing another $200,000 in it, giving me all the stability I could ever need all while remembering to buy things in cash for I knew Tony had away of tracking people with a digital footprint and I was not about to start leaving one now.
Giddy with my new found freedom, I always made sure to remind myself to never stay in one place for long for during the first month of being free I always had this fear of Lucus and the others finding me and dragging me back to their gilded cage.
Then after a month and still no sign of Lucus or the others I began to become a little more relaxed and finally settled here in Silverton, Colorado in this tiny 1 bedroom home that was stationed just on the outskirts of town where no would ever be able to find me or bug me and I could be free to just be me.
Giggling I move to walk over towards my tiny one bedroom closet as I moved to grab clothes for the day for even though I was technically rich I had slowly become lonely and by two months of being on my own I could no longer handle being alone by myself and thus started venturing into town where I often helped volunteer my services to local libraries and schools, the need to feel useful until I could find a more meaningful purpose, knowing that fashion had always been an interest of mine but with no local college and no degree I couldn’t very well find a job as a fashion designer but then I really got to thinking and began to remember all those times as a child in which my father would grill and make his signature burgers and thought maybe I could be a chef.
Sure I had no culinary background, but I did have years of watching my parents cook, cooking different kinds of meals my whole entire life that I knew I could do it as well so imagine my surprise when returning home from volunteering did I manage to come across a new restaurant with a grand opening sign as well as a help wanted sign a grin now plastered on my face as this had to be my lucky break.
Jotting down the number on the help wanted sign I quickly move to call the number a voice of a woman who I soon learned was Mrs. Lucinda, as well as the new owner to The Nightingale and was trying to fill positions within her restaurant to which I offered to be her head chef.
Agreeing to interview me, or in my case taste test interview me I moved to recreate my father’s signature burger that he always had to make during a grill out while adding my own little spin with edible glitter, remembering how fun it was to soak each of my men with balloons filled with water and glitter a pain now rising to my chest as I attempt to shove it away.
Attempting to shove my past aside, I instantly jump for joy when Mrs. Lucinda offers me the position, a wave of happiness now running through me as I moved into my new role as head chef, the rest history as Mrs. Lucinda eventually filled all the positions needed to open.
Currently we are open six days a week and the hours are from ten in the morning to ten at night, granted during the first two weeks we were practically slow but then word started to spread like wildfire and business began booming. Booming so much that Mrs. Lucinda had to hire me an extra set of hands to help me with the kitchen, in which one was a young college graduate who went by the name of Darren.
Shaking my head I move to glance over towards my clock, attempting to push any and all thoughts away as I go about getting myself ready for the day, for it was already 8:30 in the morning and I had to be at the restaurant no later than 10.
Sighing, I slowly head for the kitchen and over to where my tiny 1 cup coffee machine now sat, making what I liked to call my happy juice as I move to brew my cup of coffee for the day for ever since leaving the safety of the compound I had slowly began having recurring nightmares that steamed back from when I was child. Nightmares that had always left me screaming in the middle of the night until they all but became a distant memory to me, my dreams then filled with images of Lucus and the others that would eventually lead me into a moaning mess as my core flooded with need.
Biting my lip I eventually move to shove everything aside before finally leaving the house, unaware that today would be the day that I would finally came face to face with my demons and quite literally I might add for when approaching the restaurant I’m greeted like usual, Darren arriving just shortly after me as we move into meal planning all while waiting for customers to arrive until finally we hit lunch, people all coming in for our Glitter Surprise which was literally me just making my dad’s signature burger and fries and adding a little bit glitter to the plate but whenever we served it, people would come from miles away just to enjoy it.
“OH. MY. GOD” exclaims an excited voice just as I move to finish plating my last Glitter Surprise, my eyes now moving over to that of Claudia, a young girl just finding herself after high school but totally lesbian on the sexual radar as she comes to stand directly in front of me.
“Oh my god what?” I ask hoping she would continue, the need to know what had her all flustered about finally getting to me.
“We just had 10 hunky guys come waltzing into this place while asking to be served. Can you believe it? 10? I swear if I wasn’t lesbian I’d be all over them in a heartbeat” swoons Claudia being a little dramatic in which I find funny and can’t help but laugh.
“Please… Those men are PERFECT, in every way imaginable” remarks Carmilla, one of the hostess whose job was to greet customers upon their arrival, “The blonde one with tattoos even looked like he was opening looking at me. Clearly he knows who’s the better woman between you and I” finishes Carmilla.
“Then go for it” chuckles Darren who was obviously listening to us girls chatting making me burst out laughing unable to help myself before moving to shoo them from my kitchen, still having orders to fulfill and didn’t need any kind of distractions including that of 10 hot hunky men.
“Okay Darren back to work”
With distractions finally over we moved to finish serving our customers until finally no new customers had entered giving me the chance to finally clean up and prepare for the dinner rush only to be interrupted again when Carmilla moved to enter, a frown now on her face as she did.
”You're needed at Table 8. Apparently they wish to speak to you.” sneers Carmilla, clearly not happy with the outcome of our new customers. “Mrs. Lucinda told them that when they were finished to have Claudia come and fetch you, something about wanting to give you a proper compliment.”
Compliment? I move to think, for sure there was the occasional customer who typically asked for me, but today I was beginning to feel as though this meeting was going to be anything but pleasant, butterflies that I had not felt in forever now began dancing in the pit of my stomach as I slowly make my way over to Table 8, my eyes all but popping from their sockets as I move to see who was sitting there. Fuck me.
“Hello Agapi Mou (My Love), Long time no see.”
