"You alright son?" I asked looking on as the doctor stitched up Michael's chest. Red angry claw marks were present on his face along with red bruises on his arms and legs.
"I am now but it's getting harder to keep the pain from Emma," he said gritting in pain as the needle pierced his skin again.
"I have her mother with her now. We got her to go back to sleep with a sedative. You can release your hold a bit," I told him.
"Sedative?" He asked confused laying back on the bed.
I nodded. Sitting on the chair beside him I looked at the man that will soon take my place. My daughter's mate. The man she was hurting for.
"She woke up screaming for you. She had a nightmare, seems like a bad one. Her heat picked up from not being around you all day. She's hurting for you, son" I said.
He lowered his eyes and let out a deep breath.
"How... I can't... I do miss her even for the few hours apart but the image of her and Aiden being intimate is burned into my mind. I love Emma with all my heart and soul but the thought of her with him is fucking unbearable" he said dejectedly.
I can't tell him I knew how he felt because I've never been where he's at. It's great that he still loves Emma but his insecurities are still clouding his thinking. The vision of Aiden and Emma together is because of his broken trust for her.
"You have to believe your mate. Talk to Emma about what really happened. You two have a long way to go." I advised him.
We stayed quiet as the doctor finalized his stitches.
"No shifting for two days. Your wolf and yourself need to rest, your wounds are healing nicely." He said looking over Michael.
"Thank you, doctor. How's Aiden?" Michael asked in a flat tone.
"Its no problem your majesty. The young alpha is still unconscious. His wounds are not healing as they should but we are taking care of him," The doctor said watching Michael with curiosity and pride.
He had a good heart even when Aiden did him wrong he still made sure the kid was alright. A true king in the making.
"Good. Landon, what are you going to do with him?" Michael asked.
"I will give you this one. Use it as practice" I said grinning. A weak smile played across his face.
"He's still without a pack so I think he can stay here till we get his family from Malcolm but away from myself and Emma," He said a bit drowsily.
"I know where to place him," I said standing up.
Michael nodded and fought to get up. "Where do you think you're going?" I asked rushing to his side. "I need to be near her. It's getting too painful" he breathed out. The doctor got a wheelchair and sat him in it.
"I will take him up doc. Thank you once again" I said wheeling out Michael.
After a moment of silence, he asked the question I was waiting for him to voice out.
"Why haven't you or the queen intervene earlier?" He asked. I smirked. So many reasons to tell him.
"He challenged you didn't he?" I countered.
He nodded.
"His prize was your mate if he did succeed in the end. It was your battle, not mine. Ari knew also. I knew you wouldn't kill him because of the twins' attachment to him also Emma's and Mason. Also, Isah was there if things got bad." I said.
His judgment was pleasing to me and Ari even the whole palace has heard of it. From a bloodthirsty rage to calm thinking. It was pretty impressive.
"Does Emma know of the fight?" He asked cautiously.
"Mason wanted her to come, stop you two but she was out when he reached her room," I informed him. When we reached Emma's room, I linked Ari that we were outside of the door so she can leave the two together. She came out a few seconds later and immediately started to fuss over the poor kid.
"Ari leave the pup alone. He needs his rest," I said to her.
"But you had him all afternoon," she whined.
Leave it to my mate to be calling dibs on people.
"How about tomorrow I spend the day with you, Your Majesty," Michael said standing up. He was towering over her when she squealed in delight. I laughed at the scene. "Call me Arabella you're family," she said opening the door for him.
He smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Good night Arabella. Goodnight sir" he bid us and closed the door.
"I hope those two work things out," Ari said leaning in closer to me as I lead us to our room.
"So do I, love," I said looking back at the door.

**Michael**
My beautiful princess. I stood by the door watching Emma sleep, she was surrounded by pillows and a thick blanket, it supposedly made her feel someone is near her. That's what I gathered.
'Need mate. Lost without her,' Zane whimpered and I agreed with him so much.
I walked to the side of the bed and watched her sleeping face. Her lips were slightly apart just begging for me to kiss them. Unconsciously I found my fists clenching tighter.
I have to get rid of those thoughts.
Hearing soft whimpers, I looked down to Emma, she was crying in her sleep, my heart got softer hearing her in misery.
"Michael," she whimpered. I dried her tears and fought my own.
I love her so much, words can't express it. Climbing in the bed next to was a task for me, every slight movement I was in pain. As I settled with her I brought her closer, her body was tense but when my hand touched her bare shoulder she relaxed. "That's my girl," I whispered.
Sleep was playing with me but eventually won over. Kissing her neck, I inhaled her scent, Zane was happy as was I, "I will never let you go, Emma. Never," I whispered before drifting off to sleep.
