58: Origin of the scar

Sebastian’s eyes were bloodshot and dark, deep purple rings brimmed them. Diana hadn’t lied at all when she told Demetri that Sebastian had looked worse than she did. In fact, he looked as though he hadn’t had an ounce of sleep for centuries.
“Sebastian, I can explain.” Demetri said, raising his hands up in surrender. But Sebastian was having none of it.
“Explain! You want to explain?” Sebastian had now become the man I currently knew him to be- jealous, short-tempered and unstoppable once he was enraged.
Immediately, Diana placed herself between the two men and gazed up at Sebastian softly. “Calm down my love.”
But Sebastian was anything but calm. “Calm down? *Calm down*? How *dare* you tell me to calm down!” He roared out. That was when Demetri snapped. He gripped at my shoulders gently and moved me out of the way before taking a closer step towards Sebastian.
“Hey! Don’t you dare talk to *my* mate like that!” The moment these words left his mouth, I knew all hell was about to break loose, and judging by the loud gasp that escaped my lips, Diana knew that too.
Sebastian gritted his teeth and seethed out, “What did you just say?”
It was then that Demetri’s entire aura changed completely. Instead of the sweet, gentle, calm and collected wolf I’d come to know, he was now angry, dark and cold.
“You heard me you son of a bitch. I told you once before that if you didn’t treat Diana well, and that if you ever hurt her, I would waste no time in stealing her from you. Well, it seems you’ve hurt my Princess badly, Prince Sebastian, and now, you’re going to have to pay.”
The chaos that followed was absolute madness. Sebastian tackled Demetri to the floor, but Demetri was much stronger than him and used his legs to launch Sebastian off of him and into the trees which surrounded us. He landed with a loud, shaky *thud*. The mere sight of it had Diana immediately alarmed.
“Sebastian!” I yelled out desperately and attempted to make my way to him. But I was too late. Sebastian had gotten onto his feet and was now heading straight towards Demetri with his claws extended and fangs protruding from his opened jaw, like two shards of carefully sculpted and sharpened shards of glass. The moment his body collided with Demetri, nothing but the sounds of bones breaking could be heard, and all I could smell was the nauseating stench of the blood of my two mates polluting the air.
There was only so much Diana could take, before she began to intervene. I rushed over towards the two, with Sebastian hovering over Demetri and grabbing him by the collar as he punched him repeatedly and Demetri already bloodied and bruised.
“Sebastian stop!” I yelled. But Sebastian did not stop, in fact, I was almost certain his punches grew more enthusiastic. So, I tried again, this time, louder. “Sebastian, stop!” Still, he did not listen. It was at this point that I grabbed Sebastian’s arm, but the moment I did, he turned around and his fist made contact with my cheek. All that could be heard in the sudden silence of the woods was my cheekbone shattering. I clutched onto my cheek immediately both horrified and absolutely shocked. Sebastian was just as horrified and gazed at me and then his enclosed fist before releasing it completely.
“I… I am so sorry Diana…” He uttered out, with regret now flashing across his face. But something had begun to happen. Something rather strange. I felt this hot, powerful feeling of anger burning through my chest. It was unlike anything I’d ever felt. It was raw, dark and overpowering. My skin grew hotter, my fangs began extending painfully, and I could feel my eyes changing colour. It was as though both my vampire and werewolf halves had come to embrace each other and intertwined, as though they’d become one. And as the two halves combined, my anger was amplified to a level I’d never even knew existed.
A low growl left my lips, and I reached a hand out and wrapped it tightly around Sebastian’s neck, squeezing tightly. Sebastian’s eyes gazed at me in both shock and urgency.
“D-Diana calm down!” He mumbled. But I did not calm down, instead I gave a wicked chuckle and squeezed tighter before lifting him up into the air.
Demetri had finally come to his senses now as well, and although he was healed, he was still too weak to get up and stop me- though I doubted he could. “Diana stop it! This isn’t you!” He said calmly.
I wanted to stop, I really did, but this body was Diana’s, and I was sure that right now, not even she was in control of it.
“This is me!” I growled before gripping tighter on Sebastian’s neck and then in a quick, swift movement, I slammed him right to the ground, cracking the ground beneath him and sending a cloud of dust into the surrounding air.
My grip then loosened slightly as my fingers were injured during my little movement. Sebastian used it as an opportunity to remove my hands from his throat and then he scrambled to his feet quickly.
“Diana! I’m warning you!” He growled. He then attempted to grab at me, but I was too quick and caught his hands. I just held them there though and stared up into his angered eyes.
“You can’t get mad. This is all your fault.” It was the worst thing he could ever have said. There was a reason hybrids were not to be trifled with, and I was beginning to understand why.
“*My* fault!” I uttered out madly.
I could feel my hands shaking in anger and in one swift, quick movement, Sebastian was back on the floor, with me hovering over him.
“Diana, don’t-“
“Shut up!” I yelled at Demetri.
Slowly, I raised my hand into the air, claws out and ready to attack. I hesitated for a moment as everything slowly sank in. The anger, the hurt… the memories which now began to reveal themselves in an effort to explain this unrelenting rage Diana felt. And I did finally understand. She was exhausted, but more than that she was hurt and that had built up over the month. It was sleepless nights, tears, fights, sleeping in separate rooms. All of this had begun the night of her wedding… of my wedding, and now I knew exactly why we looked as awful as we did. And so, I let it consume me, all of the rage and exhaustion before dealing the most painful, most rage-filled blow to his face I’d ever mustered up. The moment my hand made contact with his skin, my own skin on my hands cracked and tore apart and my claws split. It was painful, not only for him, but for me as well, and by the time I was done, he was rendered unconscious with a large, deep gash running across his face. It was only when I finally calmed down that the realisation began to dawn on me as I stared at his unconscious, disfigured face. The blow I dealt was the scar Sebastian still carried today. I was the reason for the scar on his face.
Soon I felt the wetness of Diana’s tears against my cheeks and felt the soft sensation of Demetri’s hand against my back.
“He’ll be alright…” Demetri uttered out reassuringly.
I gulped deeply before looking up at him and saying, mortified, “It won’t heal Demetri… the mark… it won’t heal.”
Demetri looked down at me confused, “Of course it will…”
But I shook my head violently and said, “Any mark or wound I make out of hatred will leave an everlasting scar. There’s a reason people are told not to make hybrids angry.”
I myself had no idea about this and found myself completely baffled and disturbed at the concept. No wonder it was the only scar Sebastian carried.
But I felt sorry for Diana at the same time. I knew she hadn’t done this all intentionally, and contrary to what Sebastian said, this was not her fault, and I knew he knew that as well. It was just his guilt speaking.
“Let’s bring him back, what do you say? Then you can explain everything to him.” Demetri suggested softly. I nodded in response and got off of his body.
We were about to reach for Sebastian when suddenly, and ear-piercing screech sounded right next to us. I turned around and was horrified to meet the cold eyes of Sebastian’s mother. Although her eyes had a pretence of false shock written on top of them, beneath I could see a sinister gaze forming, as though she had been waiting for this to happen. As though she’d knew it would somehow happen.
She let out another screech and stomped her foot, “I knew it! I knew it all along! Guards, guards seize both Demetri Forbes and Princess Diana Dragović!”
The moment it left her mouth, guards were already at our sides, attempting to detain us.
“I-it’s not what it looks like mother!” I yelled out as I struggled against the guards, but soon they’d stuffed ground wolfsbane into our faces, forcing us to inhale, and although it didn’t work as well on Demetri and me, it still had a numbing effect on us.
Once we were calmed down, Sebastian’s mother neared me. The look in her eyes was absolutely, frighteningly hateful, and it sent shivers down my spine. She gripped at my chin painfully tightly and brought her face close to mine before snarling out viciously, “Don’t you dare call me mother, you filthy, half-blooded bitch!”
She then released me, stood up and then turned toward the guards. “Bring them to the throne room. It will be a fitting place for their execution.”
“Execution!” I mumbled out in fright.
Sebastian’s mother gave a wicked little laugh before nodding her head and smiling, “Yes. You and your filthy werewolf mate are going to be executed for the attempted murder of my son.”
“But we didn’t attempt to murder him you bitch!” Demetri exclaimed sluggishly.
“And who’s going to believe you? You walked right into my trap, you and Diana. I knew it was only a matter of time before you snapped, Diana. And now, I finally have a chance to rid the world of you completely and give the vampires the pureblood royal lineage it deserves.”
The realisation soon began to dawn on me. I was entering into Diana’s last memory… her death.

Are you mentally prepared for what's about to happen next?? I don't think you are!😉
Will Sebastian be the death of Diana once he awakens... or will it be his mother who brutally executes her?
Again, a reminder to check out *Seducing Lucien* if you haven't as yet!
Stay safe! Stay healthy! Sending my love!🥰
