Chapter 38
**ARIA**
I spent last night with Austin, we made up under the covers and it hurt to see him leave this morning. It is certainly selfish of me but I do not want to be far from him especially as I do not know when we will be able to see each other again. Rosalie arrived a little later in the afternoon more comforting than ever. She has this ability to calm me down. She and I are getting closer and closer and she makes the separation with Riley more bearable.
After showing her around the palace we ran into Sasha who seems to have fallen completely under her spell, which made me laugh because physically she looks older than him when in reality he is much older than her. He looks at her with awe, ogling her shamelessly.
“He likes you.” I say to rosalie, once we are alone.
“He’s a kid.”
“On the surface he’s 18 but you know that in reality...”
“And I’m an old soul.” She cuts me off with a smirk. “And I don’t need a man in my life. I’m fine on my own.”
I nod not wanting to press the point especially since it’s none of my business.
We sat down in a small living room to have tea and chat with each other. Since this morning I’ve been feeling a little strange and I’ve been blaming it on my sadness over Austin leaving and all the stuff that’s been happening to us but I can’t seem to calm down.
“What’s wrong?” Rosalie asks me with a frown.
“I don’t know. I’m a little hot. It’ll pass.” I run the back of my hand over my forehead and indeed I am boiling. “I’m going to lie down for a bit.” I stand up but my legs don’t seem to follow and I fall to the floor but luckily she catches me before my head hits the ground. “What’s happening to me?” I ask weakly before my eyelids become too heavy to keep them open, I feel my legs give out on me and I let the darkness engulf me.
**AUSTIN**
As soon as I arrive at the pack I go to my office and call David to report to me. When he walks in the door, they start talking to me about the current affairs without sitting down.
“You called a council meeting without telling me?” I ask him and his eyes widen in surprise. “Did you set up a fucking meeting behind my back?” I ask, raising my voice and he flinches slightly as my hand hits the desk, cracking it.
“I know how this looks...”
“Oh but explain it to me. What do you think it looks like?” I ask him as I rest on the back of my chair.
“I was going to tell you about the meeting. I know you wanted to meet with them and I talked to my dad about it so he could expedite the process.” He answers me uncomfortably and I take it upon myself not to hit him.
“The meeting is tomorrow. When were you going to let me know?”
“Today.” He answers me by looking down.
“Get out of my office and ask Garrett to come in,” I tell him to dismiss it.
“Austin...”
“I said get out of my fucking office and let my Gamma know I want to see him. Now!!” I cut him off.
He walk out of my office visibly shaken. I would like to believe him, to believe that he was really going to tell me but I highly doubt it. As I wait for Garrett looking out the window, my heart sinks and my wolf cries out to the moon. Something is wrong with Aria.
I call Adam and he answers on the second ring.
“It’s started.” He tells me immediately knowing what I felt. “She felt sick and passed out. She’s still out and Rosalie is making her something to make her feel better.”
“I felt she was in trouble. Fucking David, I knew I should have stayed with her.” Talk about fucking timing.
“Look she’s safe here. You know I won’t let anything happen to her so deal with what you have to deal with and the two of you will get together.”
“I trust you.” I tell him softly before hanging up.
My Gamma arrives a few minutes later and I give him a mission of the utmost importance.
“I want to know everything about David.” I start as soon as he closes the door behind him. “I know I can trust you. I need to be honest with you, I asked to meet with the Council but I wasn’t made aware that the meeting was going to be tomorrow. David told me he planned to tell me but I’m not sure I can trust him.”
“I knew something was wrong.”
“Listen to me carefully. I had a guy from the palace put together some stuff for me and I want you to install these listening devices in David’s office but also in his room.”
“Wow, I’ll try...” He tells me unsure.
“Garrett, you have to do more than try. You have to do it. If my suspicions are true, this story is not just about me but about my mate, your Luna.” I cut him to make him understand the situation.
“Agreed. You can count on me Alpha.”
I explain to him how everything Alex gave me works and point out where to install them. I pray to the moon goddess that he doesn’t get caught but also hope I’m wrong about David.
Once I’m sure he understood everything, he leaves the office with the material. If everything goes as planned, he will be able to set up everything during the council meeting. David will be with me at the meeting so he’ll have access to his office, we’ll just have to figure out a way to get Riley out of their room but I’ve already thought of something.
