Chapter 89

**ADAM**

I stalked through the corridor, my blood boiling, my fists clenched at my sides. Every instinct in me screamed for a fight, for blood, for retribution. I had been the one to bring Caedmon here, but I had never trusted him—not fully. And now, he had gone too far.

I spotted him ahead, walking at a casual pace, as if he hadn't done a damn thing.

Without a second thought, I grabbed him by the collar and shoved him into the nearest office, slamming the door behind us. He barely stumbled, adjusting his coat with an amused smirk.

"Adam," he drawled, his tone light, unfazed. "What a surprise."

His arrogance only stoked the fire in my veins. I took a step forward, my body tense with the need to wipe that smirk off his face.

"Cut the act," I growled. "I know what you did."

Caedmon tilted his head slightly, the picture of feigned innocence. "You’ll have to be more specific. I do many things."

I slammed my hand against the desk beside him, the wood groaning under the force. His gaze flickered to it for half a second before meeting mine again, still infuriatingly calm.

"You were in her head," I snarled. "In her dreams. You tried to manipulate her."

His lips curled in amusement. "Did I?"

I grabbed him by the front of his shirt, dragging him closer, my voice dropping to something low and lethal. "I don’t care what kind of games you’re playing, but listen to me carefully, because I don’t repeat myself. She is my mate. Our bond is stronger than you could ever imagine, and if you try anything with her again, I will destroy you."

Something flickered in his expression, gone before I could place it.

"Such possessiveness," he mused, his voice still smooth, but there was an edge to it now. "Are you afraid she’ll be tempted?"

A growl rumbled in my chest, my fingers tightening in his shirt. "I don’t fear you. I just don’t tolerate threats to what’s mine."

He chuckled, low and mocking. "Noted."

I held his gaze for a long, dangerous moment before I finally released him, shoving him back slightly.

"Stay away from her," I warned.

Then I turned and left, my rage far from settled.

I stormed into Alex’s office, my pulse still thrumming with barely contained fury. Alex was at his desk, multiple screens displaying lines of code and security feeds. Fares stood near the window, arms crossed, watching me with that knowing look he always had—the one that said, I told you so.

"Don’t let Caedmon out of your sight," I said, my voice still rough with anger. "I want to know his every move."

Alex raised a brow, glancing between me and Fares. "Something happen?"

"He’s in Aria’s head," I bit out. "I don’t know how, but I won’t let it happen again."

Fares exhaled through his nose. "I was against him coming here in the first place."

I shot him a glare, but he didn’t back down.

"You were right," I admitted grudgingly. "But now he’s here, and we have to deal with it."

Alex leaned back in his chair, fingers tapping against the desk. "Alright. We need a plan. We can’t exactly lock him up without proof."

"Then we keep him close," Fares said. "No more letting him wander around unsupervised."

"He’s smart," I muttered. "If he knows we’re watching him, he’ll act harmless."

"Which means we need subtle surveillance," Alex mused. His fingers flew across his keyboard, pulling up the security system. "We could modify the cameras, adjust them to track his movements more closely without making it obvious."

Fares nodded. "And I’ll assign a rotation of trusted fighters to shadow him. He won’t take a step without us knowing."

"Good," I said, but it wasn’t enough.

Alex glanced at me. "You’re still not satisfied."

I clenched my jaw. "Because we need more than just surveillance. We need information."

Fares frowned. "He’s not going to just hand it over."

"No," I agreed. "But we can push him in the right direction."

Alex smirked. "Let him think he’s in control."

"Exactly," I said. "Let him think we’re letting our guard down, that we trust him. Get him comfortable enough to slip up."

Fares sighed, rubbing his temples. "So we’re playing mind games now?"

"It’s the only way," I said. "We control the board, not him."

A beat of silence passed, then Alex nodded. "I can make this work. I’ll tweak the surveillance, and we’ll make sure he never sees it coming."

Fares exhaled. "Fine. But the second he steps out of line, we take him down."

"Agreed," I said, my fists clenching at my sides.

Caedmon thought he was untouchable. He was wrong. So wrong, and he was about to realize it. I had to talk to Aria, Austin, Cassius and Leila because we were what Caedmon didn't have... a family, and together we were going to discover his motivations.
