chapter 7

**ARIA**

Have you ever experienced something without knowing if it is really real or if you were dreaming? When I woke up this morning in the same room as the day before, I knew it was real. Werewolves are real, Riley, David, Austin and Adam are real. What the hell did I get myself into? I have to admit that I fantasized about all this stuff when I read my books but this is real. I talked to Riley and Austin and they confirmed that what I knew about the bonding of the mates was true, the biting was true and Riley told me that the sex was a thousand times better than with a human so I guess what came out of all those books was true. I stare at the ceiling of the room and I still can’t believe what’s happening to me. I’m in a pack house in a beautiful room, with a big bed with silk sheets and big windows that let the daylight in. I decide to get out of bed and look out the window. Everything is green outside and I see a few people walking. They look like normal people, although I’ve never wondered what werewolves could look like, but they are ordinary. Well, from here they look ordinary.

There is a knock on the door and Riley enters with a bag that I immediately recognize as mine, full of clothes.

“How did you sleep? With all those revelations?” She asks me as she drops the bag on the bed.

“Not too much.” I run my hand through my hair. “I still can’t believe it.”

“I guess it must be hard to stomach but I’m sure you’ll get used to it.” She pauses but when I don’t answer she resumes. “I brought you some clothes, they're yours. I went back to the apartment to get them. I thought you'd be more comfortable with your stuff.”

“Thanks.”

“I’ll let you get ready and then we’ll go to breakfast and I’ll give you a tour. If that’s okay with you.” She says carefully.

“Yeah perfect.”

She hesitates and finally hugs me. “I don’t like it when you pout at me. Please talk to me.”

“I’m not pouting. It’s just... I wasn’t expecting all these revelations. And this thing with Austin and Adam is working on me. It’s weird and no one seems to have any explanations.”

“I’ll take you to see someone later who can answer your questions.” She replies with a wink to me. “Go get ready.”

I open the bag and take out the clothes she brought. I run into the adjacent bathroom, tiled from floor to ceiling, take my shower and finally put on a pair of jeans and a tank top that Riley brought. I tie my hair in a ponytail and go back to the bedroom where Riley is waiting for me on the bed.
She passes me a pair of flat sandals, which I put on before leaving the room. The visit begins and she explains to me we are on the floor of the alpha, in other words of Austin. I roll my eyes because the cliché is so huge. To summarize, the house of the pack is a big complex gathering common facilities to all the community, gym, library, and administrative offices and a wing is reserved for the rooms, occupied by young single adult werewolves. Riley also explained to me that for the time being she and David were sharing a room here while they find a house or an apartment elsewhere. All the people we passed looked at me for the most part with big smiles while others were less friendly but nobody spoke to me.

We arrived in a room with several tables set up at a distance.

“This is the dining room. We’re going to have our breakfast.”

Riley leads me into an adjacent room that is nothing more or less than a giant kitchen. It feels like a restaurant kitchen. She’s as comfortable as she is at home and pulls out everything we need for breakfast.

The door opens and I recognize Garrett walking into the kitchen. He’s been to the bar before with other guys and now I realize there are a lot more werewolves than I thought.

“Hey, girls! So it’s true you’re here. People can’t stop talking about you.” He says as he pours himself a mug of coffee.

“Hi, Garett. Didn’t you have a meeting this morning?” Riley asks him.

“I did and I’m late. I just came in to get some snacks.”

He grabs a mug of coffee and makes himself a quick sandwich before leaving the kitchen.

“Wow, actually even the bar patrons are werewolves.”

“Not all.” Riley laughs, “Garrett is the gamma of the pack. There are quite a few young wolves that go drinking in town, we’re not too far away.”

“So David, for real, where did you meet him?”

“Here. Remember when I said I was going to visit my parents? They came here and I met up with them for a few days and we met up and bam, mates.” She pauses. “It’s pretty common for shifters to stay in a pack when we’re passing through a place rather than going to a hotel in town and my dad is the former beta of our pack so he took the opportunity to see Austin and David’s dads.”

She puts two mugs of coffee, toast and fruit on a tray and we head back to the dining room. We start eating in silence and a small group comes in, gets ready to eat and then sits down, then another one.
