Chapter 12
I got back to Mrs Jane’s mansion after a long day of touring the school, just as Kate had told me it was too big and I may not be able to see all of it in a week or two.
The classes were awesome and I tried as much as possible to listen to all the teacher said while making some notes. It was quite different from all I have learnt so far in my old school and I know I would keep loving this new school if I don’t encounter Katherine anymore.
I freshened up and came downstairs, Mrs Jane wasn’t at home and Robin wasn’t back yet. I had the whole house all to myself but I know I better keep my cool and not act like a princess in her castle right now.
I took popcorn and ice cream I saw in the fridge and I sat down on the chair in the living room watching a movie, one of my favourite dramas and it was hilarious so I kept laughing.
I heard the door open and footsteps approach me and I turned around to see Robin walking in with the same expression he puts on when he sees me.
“You are home,” I greeted him normally since I wanted to live peacefully with him but he scoffed and I turned around to continue watching the movie.
“Don’t tell me…” I heard his loud growl and turned immediately to see his stern eyes looking down at me and the popcorn I held in my hands.
“What? Is anything the matter?” I asked curiously and watched him stomp off towards the fridge and he opened it and scanned through as if he was searching for something then he shut it angrily and turned to me with his eyes aflame.
“That can’t be my popcorn and ice cream, is it?” His lips moved with hardness and I could see his eyes had darkened as he stared at me like a wolf.
I looked down at the popcorn I held in my hands. “I don’t know who owns it, I just took it…” I looked up at him and pressed my lips shut instantly, my head was already telling me I had awoken a sleeping beast.
“You took it!” He scowled and walked over to me, snatching away popcorn from my hands. He looked at it and I noticed a sour look on his face. “You have already consumed it all!”
I blink pondering why he was too worked up over popcorn and ice cream. “It is just popcorn…” I try to point it out to him.
“Just?” I flinched at his loud voice and I kept my eyes on him to know when to flee if he was about to hit me. “Who gave you the right to touch the things inside the fridge huh?” He was agitated and I had to press my lips together. “Are you crazy?”
I have never lived under the same roof with a boy before and I have never yelled out like this or felt so frightened under someone’s gaze. Now I wish Mrs Jane would walk inside but she told me she would be back in the evening and it was just noon now.
“I will pay for it…” I said with a choked voice or should I say a trembling voice since the sound that came out from my lips was not familiar to me.
“Pay for it?” He sneered. “How much do you have?” He looked at me as if I was a puppet. “If you have that much money why don’t you leave this house and get your own apartment…” I couldn’t believe the words that came out of his lip. Does he think getting an apartment was the same amount as getting popcorn?
“You are just so crazy and nuts.” He smashed the popcorn on the ground in anger and I watched them spill everywhere. “Don’t ever touch anything in that fridge unless you gain permission to do so!” He said with gritted teeth and stomped off.
I exhaled sharply as it had finally come to an end and I was not hit. I looked down at the popcorn and couldn't help feeling sorry for them.
“What a waste of food.” I squatted down to see if there was any left in the can since the popcorn tasted so delicious, but there was none.
“If he would throw it on the floor why not give it to me to finish at once.” I was soliloquizing still thinking why he would be so rude and stingy for popcorn, this got me curious and I raised the can to look at the label.
“Oh my gosh!” My head spun and I looked up to the stairs Robin had just stomped off to as I ran my hands through my hair and got up, I was guilty and deserved all his yell and angry flare.
After breakfast the next day, I was ready to leave for school but was stopped by Mrs Jane. “Yes.”
I looked over at her and she was standing next to Robin who had been ignoring me since the event that took place… Correction, he had been ignoring me ever since I stepped foot into this mansion.
“Robin, here.” I watched Mrs Jane hand Robin a car key. “Use this car for school, you should give her a ride too, you both can go and come home together from school with it, it would save stress and transport fare.”
It was a nice offer, but with Robin, it should be a nightmare! I have never been so frightened in my life, nor have I got shivers running down my spine, but the gaze I get from Robin makes me so uncomfortable and he was doing it right now. I wonder how a boy this charming could be this cold.
“Thank you, Mrs Jane, but I can take the bus…” I flashed Mrs Jane a smile as I looked away from Robin's stern eyes. “It is cheaper,” I told her, it was better taking a bus than sitting alone in a car for a long drive to school with Robin, who knows, he might strangle me before I speak or move.
“No,” Mrs Jane said in one word and I pressed my lips together and watched her turn to her son. “Robin you would have to take her with you, you both attend the same school so it is okay.” She said with smiles on her face.
I watch Robin look over at his mother and his expression softens. Damn it, he adores his mother and it is so lovely to watch.
“Thank you mom for the car, it will help a lot.” He beams and she nods as he takes his bag and turns to me. “Let’s go.” He told me with gritted teeth and walked past me.
I made an awkward smile and waved Mrs Jane goodbye before walking out to join Robin in the car while preparing myself for what will come next.
