Chapter 16

“Hell no!” I told Kate over the phone, it was a weekend and she was telling me about a hot guy she found over her aunt’s place. She said she had a conversation with him and then she spoke about me to him and he wants to see me or have a chance to hear from me.

“I am telling you the truth.” Kate pressed on and I knew this conversation wouldn’t end unless I brought up a distraction that wouldn’t be obvious.

“Hey, Kate, I will send you the video of the show, but don’t be too surprised,” I told her and for a moment Kate paused and I smiled victoriously.

“Surprised, how?” She asked me.

“I am sending it over right now, after watching you can call me back.” I ended the call and sent it to Kate while I pace around my room counting one to ten since I know she would call right away.

“…8…9…10.” Immediately my phone vibrated and a smile escaped my lips, Kate was predictable. “Hello, Ka…” before I would finish speaking Kate’s voice came from the other side of the line and there was excitement written in it.

“Whoa! He is so awesome, I feel like hugging and kissing him right all over, I also feel like confessing my feelings to him, he is just so awesome…” She went on speaking and letting her joy out.

This wasn’t a surprise to me, this was the same thing Kate says about all the handsome guy she comes across, she had told me how she would love to make love with Hinn Carlos and crying his baby and live happily ever after, she had said the same thing when we saw a foreigner who came over at our villa and it was all amusing when she doesn’t even get the courage to speak up when she comes face to face with them.

“I know you would say all these,” I told her with a smile, leaning by my window as I looked up to the birds that spread their wings and were bathing in the morning sun.

“Thank you so much, Ivana, this would make my day fun, I would have to watch this video repeatedly and anytime I feel stressed, it would be my drug for strength,” She paused. “Could this be that I am the person he loves?” She asked me.

Robin had sung a love song and mentioned how he wants to be someone to a lover and someone that lover could run to, the song was different compared to his attitude, I doubt that a person like Robin would ever love somebody.

I haven’t stayed with him for long, it has been a week now but I could already tell all his personalities and his attitude. I was not sure if he was mean to others, but he was mean to me and that I can’t help but despise him for.

“Hey, Kate, take it easy, else you would be disappointed.” I walked over to my desk and flip the pages of the book I was going through, it was a book on how to become a good guitarist, although I didn’t like Robin’s attitude, I liked the way he handles the guitar and I wanted to play like him, the only difference was he has a guitar and I don’t.

“No Ivana, I should act fast before he gives his heart to someone else.” I sneered in my heart, devils don’t fall in love. “Can’t you see he has a talent, an awesome one at that and his looks are a killer look, jeez, Ivana he is just perfect?”

I scoffed. “He is not perfect,” I rolled my eyes and closed the book. “Perfect my butt!” I wonder if Kate would call him perfect after she sees the way he treats her best friend.

“Have you seen a person as handsome as he is?” Kate asked me, not ready to accept my recent words.

“I have seen.” I lean on my chin to my palm and look up at my notepad from 15 years ago as a smile spreads through my face.

Kate paused at the other end of the line and her voice came in a rush this time. “Don’t tell me you are still thinking of that little boy you met 15 years ago?”

“I am glad you remembered.” I could still remember the smile the little boy had when he called me pretty, he was the first person who called me pretty apart from my parents and Kate, he was also the first person who asked me for my name at our first encounter, although I didn’t get the chance to tell him my name.

“He is so charming,” I said out loud. He was the first person I ever had a crush on and I just wondered where he would be. I exhaled sharply and waited to hear what Kate would say.

Kate scoffed. “For someone, you saw only once,” it saddens me also that I didn’t get a chance to know his name or where he was from or see him again. I had always gone back to that park if I would see him but I didn’t.

“He must be a grown-up now, Ivana, or he has got a girlfriend or something like that, you never can tell.” Kate pulled me out of my thoughts and I walked over to the balcony as the warm sunlight shines its beams on me.

“I am not saying he hasn’t grown up, I am just saying that he is very handsome, he is more handsome than any boy I have ever looked at or seen.” I inhale the fresh air and exhale softly, as a young girl I have only had a crush on a little boy I have seen just once.

I like Hinn Carlos in a different way, not the same way I love the little boy. Hinn Carlos to me was a charming prince who made me realize my dream although I might have something tingling in my heart when I see him.

“But, Robin is also handsome.” Kate pressed on.

“Yes, he is.” I finally accepted, Robin looks a lot like his mother, but his personality makes him look ugly to me.

“I wish you know that little boy’s name, I would have helped you search for him since he is your crush and the only boy you truly love,” Kate said softly, I had filled her in on all that and she could tell that little boy was the one I talked a lot about and also the one who made me lost interest in fairytales.

“I am sure he is alive somewhere and I hope he is living happily.” I walked back into my room and shut the curtains. “I wish I could see him again even if it was just for a day.”

“I wish that for you too.”

“Kate, I will call you later, okay, I want to go look around Seoul city,” I told her with excitement. I wish she was here with me, but she won’t be back until tomorrow.

“Okay then, don’t get lost,” Kate told me and I chuckled.

“I won’t.” With that we ended the call and I put my phone into my little black bag and hung it across my shoulders. I tied my hair backwards and looked at the mirror. I groaned when I saw my blue eyes and I wish I could change it.

I had to let my hair down again and picked up a sunglass. I put it on and stared at my face for a long time. This suit that suits normal girls never suits me. I tossed the glasses away and blinked several as if I could make the blue eyes change into black, but I couldn’t so I gave up.

I wasn’t going out to find my soul mate, I was only going out to look around the City and no one would give a damn about me.

It was noon when I came downstairs and since it was the weekend Mrs Jane was at home, she heard me walk over and she turned around from the chair she was sitting, putting down the book on her and had an adoring smile spread through her face.

“Ivana you look beautiful today.” She complimented me and I blush.

There was nothing special in my outfit and I didn’t bother to apply any makeup, but I still got compliments from the beautiful Mrs Jane.

“Thank you very much, Mrs Jane.”

“Are you going somewhere?” She asked me, I love the way she questions me at times, it was sweet to know that someone cares to ask.

“Yes, to look around the City,” I told her with a smile and I heard footsteps approaching us from the stairs. I didn’t bother to look because I already knew who it was and all I wanted now was to leave without speaking to him, he could only ruin my happy mood.

“Oh, that’s awesome!” Mrs Jane exclaimed, she glanced over my shoulder with a smile on her face. “Robin, nice timing,” Mrs Jane spoke up and I watched Robin walk over to us with his hands in his pocket and his expression darkened as he looked at me.

I still can't figure out what I did wrong. We only had an encounter once before I stepped into this house and that was him stealing my taxi away. I was wronged by him, but he was the one getting offended and hating me.

He was a mean Jerk! I said over and over again in my head.

“Are you about to go shopping now?” Mrs Jane asked him and he nodded and cast his cold eyes on me again, staring at me with disgust. “Take Ivana with you, then you both can go look around the city together.”

Robin’s brow snapped and he turned to his mother. “I am only going to shop and I am not in the mood to go around this City like a wanderer.” He told his mother.

I scoffed, he turned his cold eyes to me again and his eyes glaring down at me, but I raised my chin, unafraid this time, his mother was here and he wouldn't hit me or yell at me in her presence.

“Buy Ivana some clothes.” Mrs Jane said the words that also surprised me. Why should this jerk buy clothes for me? “Here,” Mrs Jane handed me a credit card. “Get yourself something pretty, Robin would help you.”

“Thank you Mrs, but I got dressed already, I can’t accept the…”

“Get more dress for yourself.” Mrs Jane cuts me off.

“But you don’t have to…”

“I do.” She insisted with a gentle smile and her tender eyes peered into mine, I could feel angry eyes staring at me, but I didn’t bother to look, it was better to look at this tender face than look at Robin’s face.

“You gave her your credit cards so that she can buy whatever she wants and wander around the City like a crazy psychopath, but one thing I know in this, it got nothing to do with me going shopping for male clothes, she can go alone,” Robin told his mother.

“Robin,” Mrs Jane looked at her son and I could tell that she was not pleased with his constant whining.”Go with her and take care of her.” She said in a firm voice and I could tell that Robin had no more way to persuade his mother. “Now off you both go, have fun okay.”

Mrs Jane looked down at the book and Robin stomped off the house while I followed behind like a junior kid who would be punished very soon. Robin was angry, so I had to wait for the worst.

Robin rides out of the mansion, he still has that grumpy face on and the car was suddenly so cold, more than it used to be and I was scared to the bones.

“You can drop me off at the normal spot, over there.” I pointed at the place where she normally drops me off and just as I had thought he pulled over. “I am getting off now.” Not as if he wanted to know, I held the door handle and was about to step down but stopped when I heard his voice.

“What exactly are you going to see around this City?” He asked like a gentleman but the tone of his voice was like that of a lion, but it didn’t matter, it was nice since he asked so I smiled and opened my lips to tell him.

“There are a lot of amazing things here and places I have heard about, also I heard about the namsan tower that stands so tall, I want to get a closer look at it and make a wish, according to legend, if you make a wish, it would come true instantly.”

When I was in the outskirts of town, I had always wanted to come to the City and make a wish by the Namsan tower. Maybe if I do make a wish, I could see the little boy who I wish I would get to see again.

Robin scoffed and looked away from me. “There is nothing like that.”

“A lot of people have tried it and it worked for them.” My voice came out harsh this time to my surprise, this was something I also want to believe and I won’t have him cut their beliefs short.

He turns his eyes to me and stares at me intensely, but I was already pissed off to be intimidated by his gaze. “Okay, what do you wish for?”

I rolled my eyes, he wants to mock me right now, he could laugh if I tell him about my wish to see a little boy I have only met once and have no idea of his way about.

“It is none of your business,” I pushed the door open. “I am going down now.” I stepped out of the car and waited for him to leave, but he didn’t. “Go on now,” I told him and without another word he drove off after sneering at me.

I took out a map from my bag, glad that the only person who got me offended was out of sight. I have to tour around all by myself, just wishing Kate was here. I circled the namsan tower, this should be the last place I would go for the day, for now, I headed south with a smile.
