Chapter 22

I picked up my guitar to block my attention from them, I could tell Ivana was still glaring at me, that was all she could do, if she was done then she should gently leave this practice room and try not to ever return.

I started playing random melodies with my guitar and to my very own surprise Ivana began to sing to the beat of my instrument, I first paused in shock that the melody she sang matched the beat so well that anyone could say it was the actual beat of the music.

I turned my eyes to look at her and she too paused and everyone in the room looked at her bewildered, she wiggled her brow and smirked. Now she wants to brag, I will give her something to brag about.

I started playing again, but this time a complicated ton, but I was shocked she also broke through and matched the beat with her melodies. I looked at her with surprise, still playing the instrument. How can this girl do this without a normal practice as others do?

It only makes me realize something, for her to break this chord and match the beats with her lyrics and song, she must know how to play the guitar and handle it well.

A smile I never want to let creep off my lips and I shook my head. She was not so bad and she had enchanted everyone in this room with her angelic voice.

Where had she learned this from? I questioned in my head, she was only from that small villa, and at home, she has no guitar, she rarely goes out for me to say she does go for a tutor. How did she do it? How was she this awesome?

Lukas mounted the drum stand and started hitting it, playing to the beat of her music and it all felt like we were on stage right now and she was in the spotlight with my eyes never leaving hers. I lip-synced with her since I happened to grab some of the lyrics.

The song ended and Lukas and Nicholas applauded. “Did someone record that?”Hinn asked, glancing at us with smiles on his face, he must be astonished.

“Trust me I did.” Nicholas raised the recorder he had used up for Hinn with smiles on his lips.

“Whoa, Ivana Kimbuersy, you are amazing.” Hinn gave her a thumbs up. “You are so good that it makes me think I should be the one getting tutored by you.”

Lukas put down his drumstick and ran over to Ivana and I could tell his joker side was back again and this was called normal, he fixed his eyes on Ivana. “How did you do that?” He looked at her with enlarged pupils. “Have you played that before? How can you just sing with just any beat?” Lukas asked without hesitation.

“Well…”

“You should sing at the daily bar today,” Lukas added before she could answer his question.

“No, I have never sung a song to crowds before.” Ivana waved her hands, shaking her head profusely.

“You would get used to it girl,” Hinn added.

“Well, for now, I just think you have had your first song.” Nicholas raised the record he had taken up for her to see and Ivana’s eyes dilated as she looked at them.

Hinn took the recorder from Nicholas, glancing down at it he smiled. “We would have to do some work on the beat for your song and then you would have to perform it.”

“Huh!” Ivana gasped. “No…” She shook her head.

“No isn’t the answer we were expecting.” Lukas took the recorder from Hinn. “And we weren’t asking you, we were telling you.” He winks at her with a smile.

“Don’t take Lukas seriously,” Hinn added and the others chuckled, I put down my guitar and look at Ivana,

“Do you play the guitar?” I asked her before she could speak.

“Yes.” She nodded and her eyes locked with mine, it felt like I was staring into a deep blue ocean with a big heart, I tore my gaze away from her and stood up.

“Your singing isn’t so bad,” I told her and walked out of the practice room, she was incredible right now, no one has ever broken the chord of my guitar and sang that well to a tone not known.

I walked over to the rest area of the school. It was peaceful here and only the sound of birds chirping could be heard. This was the only place I love coming to ever since I stepped foot into this school and the place seems free from students.

I lay down on the field, closing my eyes. I inhaled and exhaled, letting the cool breeze brush through my face, and just at the moment, I thought I could have my peace an annoying voice came from behind.

“Nice view.”

I gently open my eyes to see a lady in a white dress staring down at me. It took time to recognize her because of the sunlight that blinded me. I had to sit up to get a better look at the lady smiling at me.

“Yes, what are you doing here?” I dust off my hands.

She stretched out her hands. “Let’s be friends.” She blinks and a smile spreads through her face.

I scoffed, wondering if all ladies in this city are a nutcase. “Why?” I asked sarcastically. “Are you not trying to make friends with me, or do you have a personal agenda for that?” I raised my brow and she retracted her hands.

“To be friends and I also have a personal agenda.” She flashed her nice set of teeth and her eyelashes fluttered, if one doesn’t look well you would think she was an angel, but her heart is corrupted.

“Then, no.” I turned to continue resting.

“I choose you to be my friend out of everyone in this school.” She said in a rush.

I scoffed. “Should I be excited?” I curled my lips upward, giving her a once-over. “Now I know why you don’t have friends.”

She squinted with a snapped brow. “I make friends with people I will benefit from.” She was quite honest, annoying too.

I gave her a sarcastic round of applause. “Congratulations, you have been awarded the crown of selfishness and self-centeredness.”

She rolled her eyes. “You can say that all you want, I want the best for myself that is all.” She curled her lips upward and I felt my blood being drained out just by talking to her. Girls are just a nuisance to me.

“Well, I won’t benefit anything from being friends with you, so get lost.” I waved her away, hoping she would get the message and leave.

“I bet you would benefit from something.” She said courageously, I lifted my brow waiting for her to continue. “Popularity,” I chuckled at her words. “Being friends with me would make you popular and special.” She continues.

“Sorry to break it down to you, I am popular and special and I don’t need you,” I told her indifferently, the nerve of this lady makes me laugh.

“I am the best female singer and…”

“Don’t delude yourself.” I cut her off her speech and got up, she had succeeded in ruining my peace. “You should cut your ego else you would be disappointed at the end and people like you don’t last.” I sized her up and turned to leave but she grabbed my hands.

“I am sorry.” She curled her lips up, it makes me wonder what drama this lady was acting this time. Hinn had told me she was a dance machine, but I think she should be called a drama queen instead. “Help me, please help me perfect myself.”

I smirked. “You said you were the best.”

“I still need help, I know I do act hard and all perfect, but I am lonely and still need someone, so please, help me.” She blinks like a puppy down and this was exactly the kind of lady I despise.

I pulled my hand away from her and straightened up, after giving it some thought I didn’t think it was a bad idea after all. “Okay.”

She made a fist in the air and we exchanged contacts. “This means I would be seeing you more often.” She put on a bold face, the act was finally over.

“If you are too clingy then I would have to brush you off like dust.” I walked away with my hands in my pocket, I smirked, this was going to be fun.

I got home and found Ivana nodding off on the sofa in the living room. She was watching a movie, one I couldn't understand and I was sure she fell asleep because she finds it boring to watch.

I turned the movie off and stared at her face, I noticed she has long eyelashes and a shape pointed nose. To say she was that girl I saw in the past makes me smile.

She is also the best singer I have ever seen. I deepened my hand into my pocket and took out the recorder Hinn had given to me. I have listened to it over and over again and still can't imagine how she got to sing to my beat.

She was like a mystery box.

She nodded forward and her mouth turned up with a lock of her hair coming over to her face, she pushed it off as if it was a buzzing fly, and then she leaned back to the sofa.

Damn it! She looks so stupid but yet adorable in her sleep, she was I.K. I smiled and leaned close to tuck the lock of her hair behind her ear, but her eyelashes fluttered and she opened her eyes, I withdrew my hands immediately.

"What are you doing?" She looked at me with a furrowed brow as she sat up wiping off the side of her lips.

"What do you think?" I scowl. "Why are you sleeping here? Go to your room if you want to sleep, this sofa is for sitting not for sleeping."

She scoffed and got up. "So annoying." She muttered under her breath.

"What did you say?" I glared at her coldly.

She looked at me and said with gritted teeth. "I said okay." She picked up her phone and headed upstairs as I went after her.

"Hey!" I called out when she approached her door, she turned to me with raised brows and aflame eyes.

"What?" She lifted her chin to put up a bold front.

"I would like to hear you play the guitar." She blinked and her lips parted like an idiot.

"Huh!" She paused and scoffed, placing her hands to her waist. "You don't believe I can play the guitar too?" I rolled my eyes at her, as if.

"Don't get me wrong," I paused, she was still glaring at me and I could tell what she was thinking already. "Just go in!" I said coldly and walked into my room, but before shutting the door I heard her call me annoying.

I lay down on my bed and raised the recorder, Hinn had asked me to listen to it and work on the music if I haven't like the way she sang I wouldn't have done this, it was also played by me so I sat up, picking up my guitar, I play few strings and note down keys, this sounds interesting and the real work seems to begin now.
