Chapter 14

I was walking down the stairs when I saw Katherine, the girl who was so full of herself, walking out of the administrative office saying something I couldn’t hear clearly but I could see the evil smile she had on her lips.

I know I have to avoid her and just as I was about to go the other way, I saw Hinn Carlos coming over and I hid behind the pillar, still not sure of why I was hiding from both of them.

“Hey Katherine,” I heard Hinn say with joy as he ran over to her so I peered to watch.

“Aish!” Katherine, who looked startled, held her chest and turned to him with a glare. “You scared me.” She said in her normal language. I have only heard her speak once, but I could tell that it was her normal tone of speech.

“What are you guilty of this time?” Hinn asked her and looked over her shoulder but Katherine frowned.

“Mind your business!” Katherine was about to walk past him but he held her hands and made her face him. “What!” She shouted in a cold voice and I scoffed where I stood.

In the villa at the outskirt of town, a lot of girls are dying to be touched or talked to by Hinn and here this lady is acting like a bi*ch, it makes me angry that I wish I would step up to her and smack her hard.

“Come to tonight's show at the daily bar.” Hinn told her and it got me curious, was Hinn having a show today and where could be this daily bar?

“I am not interested in watching,” Katherine pulled her hands from his and scoffed, proudly adjusting her hair. “You want to brag that you sing well to people again.”

What was this lady’s stress? She should take a chill pill, Hinn was a good singer there was nothing to brag about. The nerve of this lady was pissing me off.

Hinn Carlos’s lip turns up and I was surprised he would smile at her in this situation. “You look cute when you act tough,” Hinn told her softly and my face fell.

Hinn Carlos must be in love with Katherine, I could see it in his eyes and also, he loves a girl who acts tough, I just can’t act tough when I see Hinn, I would only be a block of melting ice, now I pondered if Hinn also finds me cute, as ugly as I am.

Katherine is a pretty girl, she has a figure that would make any man fall to their feet and adore her, she didn’t have stupid blue eyes like mine, she was damn pretty, now I don’t think I stand a chance, my prince charming would never adore me or look my way.

“Just let me be, I told you I won’t be coming, I don’t want to listen to your songs.” Katherine turned to leave.

“Someone new would be performing tonight, come and watch an expert this time.” Hinn winks her knowing full well that he had caught her attention. “I know I will see you there, bye,” He waved to her and walked away.

Katherine scoffed. “Someone new? An expert? Tsk, I am the best.” I heard Katherine say and I shook my head. This girl has a serious problem because she is adored by many and doesn't give her the right to be too proud, but I also got curious, there was someone performing today and Hinn Carlos had also said she is an expert.

Could it be? Oh my goodness, BHDS group!

I dressed up in an off-shoulder yellow dress that got to my knees. It was one of the best dresses I had and it was gifted to me by my father on my 20-year-old birthday, but I kept it well and cherished it a lot. The dress still suits me well.

I needed to be beautiful tonight if I was going to see the BHDS group, who knows who I might bump into. I smiled as I applied light make-up to my face, to me it would make me prettier and I might have to look at Hinn Carlos even if he might be watching Katherine.

I heard my phone ringing and knew who It was instantly. Without looking at the caller ID, I answered the phone and lifted it to my ears. “Hello Kate, where are you?”

“I am about to head to my aunt's place, I would be spending the night there,” She told me with a sad voice and my face fell.

“How about the show tonight, aren’t you coming?” I asked her, we had already made plans to meet and enjoy the show like never before.

“I am sorry Ivana, my aunty wants me over before 8:00 this evening. I am not happy with myself for not coming to the show. I have to help her with her kids tonight.” She explains and I know that the person who shouldn’t be happy was Kate and not me.

“Okay then, greet the twins for me,” I muttered softly and sat down on the chair. I didn’t feel like going anymore. I have always attended Hinn Carlos’s show with Kate and it was more fun that way.

“Hey, you have to go, and do me a favour by taking a video record of the music and sending it over to me, I would be anticipating it.” Kate must have known my thoughts that must be the reason she brought this idea.

I know her quite well and it made me smile. I have to do as she said then, at least none of us would miss the show if I go. She would still have a chance to watch it after I send her the video.

“Okay.” I agreed to it and we ended the call.

I made my way downstairs after wearing my flats and taking my purse with me, just as I got down I saw Mrs Jane in the living room sipping her evening tea in an elegant way which I envy, she was a really attractive and charming lady.

“Good evening Mrs Jane,” I greeted as I walked over to her with a smile on my lips. “I didn’t know you were back.”

“I did not want to bother you both since I came back late, I arrived not quite long.” Mrs Jane said as she looked at me with charming smiles. “Have you had your dinner?”

“Yes, thank you.”

“Are you going somewhere?” She accessed my outfit and her eyes fell on my face.

“Yes, there is a performance in school and I don’t like missing it,” I told her honestly, I was glad when I heard from Kate that Hinn sang most of the time here unlike in the Villa where we have to wait for a month or two to have him come over.

“Okay,” She smiled and opened her purse. She brought out clean dollar notes and stretched them out to me. “Take this for a taxi fare.”

“You don’t have to give me,” I told her without hesitation. “I already have a transport fare.” The smile on her lips disappeared and I was scared that I might have offended her, but she opened her lips and spoke kindly.

“I insist Ivana,” Mrs Jane said simply and I had no choice rather than to accept the money. “Return safely.” The smiles on her face returned and I kind of think she was the opposite of her son although they have a similar personality.

“I am very grateful,” I told her and the house.

I arrived at the daily bar since Kate had told me where it was located and my jaw dropped to see a lot of people here waiting for the show. The people here were not as many as the ones in the villa, but it makes me surprised to see that Hinn Carlos also drew the attention of people in the city.

I located a good spot at the back and sat down waiting for the show to begin, just as I was about to place my purse on my lap, I heard the sound of high-heel hitting the stone floor and I looked from the leg and up to the person who had just stopped close to me with her hands crossed over her chest.

I blink as I admire her expensive glass heels, then her pink skirt that exposes most of the thigh and then the top of the white style she wore with jewellery I could already tell worth many dollars, her hair was let down to fall perfectly on her shoulders and right her I looked like an ugly duck next to a beautiful white swan.

“Katherine you came.” I heard another female voice and turned my attention to the lady who had just stepped in, it was the same lady who I had seen Hinn with at the show in the Villa a few weeks ago… What was her name again?

“Yes, Clara,” Katherine answered but did not look at her, I now realize that this was her normal behaviour to everyone.

I watched Clara nod and look over at the stage and for a while, I think there was no need to watch this too before I draw their attention to myself, I turned my eye to the stage just in time to see the crowd cheer my prince charming name and he walked up to the stage and a smile curled up in my lips.

“Thank you all for coming tonight,” Hinn spoke, holding the microphone to his lips. “But, I won’t be the one singing so I should apologize before the show starts.”

A lot of people started murmuring and I looked around to see if I could catch a glimpse of the BHDS group, but they were not in sight, maybe they were hiding somewhere and would pop up on the stage later so I turned my attention back to the stage and Hinn.

“I won’t be the one singing tonight, but we have an expert here,” His voice made everyone silent again and my excitement was growing and I was waiting to see them, the popular guy who is now famous. “So, I would like you all to cheer for him too.”

I beamed and focused on the stage as Hinn left the microphone stand and hung his guitar over his shoulder and then the stage lights turned off and a bright blue light was turned on and my jaw dropped to see the person on the stage holding the microphone as the music began.“What the Fu*k is he doing there!” My eyes dilated and all the surprise and excitement I had in my heart disappeared.
