Chapter 13
I put my seat belt on and he started the car engine and drove out of the gate. It was quiet in the car and I knew I owed him an apology, so I turned to him and opened my lips to speak hoping he would let me finish what I had to say before cutting me off.
“I am sorry for eating the popcorn yesterday, I saw you brought it from the States and left it for your mother, it was for her right?”
“Forget it.” He said coldly without looking at me and I was glad that perhaps he had forgiven me although his voice was stern.
I should have kept quiet and not say another word but I was stupid enough to think I would light up the mood between us.
“Thank you for giving me a ride…” Before I could finish my words the car screeched and came to a halt as I was pushed forward by it and if it wasn’t for the seat belt my head could have hit the hard surface.
“Don’t delude yourself.” Robin’s cold voice came before I could sit back straight and I looked out of the window. We hadn't gotten to school yet and we were just a few blocks from the mansion. “Get down.”
I heard his domineering voice and turned my eyes back to him. “Why are we stopping?” I was naïve to ask, there were no stores around so it can’t be to get something, the car didn’t break down too.
He sneers, casting his cold gaze on me. “Have you forgotten what I told you?” He smirked as I tried to remember what he told me, but his next words snapped me off my thoughts. “Every day we leave the mansion together, I would drop you off here and you would have to find your way to the school by any means you wish.”
He was too cold and I pouted. “That is not fair, whereas your mother said you should give me a ride too.” Here I was thanking for giving me a ride not knowing it would go down like this.
His eyes darkened and the corner of his lips twitched. “Maybe you weren’t listening.” He said with gritted teeth. “I said GET LOST!”
His voice was very cold and I could tell there was no bargaining on this, I quickly stepped out of the car and immediately I shut the door he drove off without glancing back. How can someone be so mean, I had apologized to him and yet he went on with his grudge.
“I take back my apologies, you mean jerk!” I shouted at the car that had already disappeared out of sight, it wasn’t as if he could hear me out anyway, I would only drain myself if I kept shouting.
I should have expected this, I glanced at my wristwatch and my eyes dilated, if I don’t run now I might miss the last bus going to our school.
I put my bag over my shoulder and tightened my loose shoe lance and began my race. This was something I would have to do every day I guess. I should have just told Mrs Jane that I wouldn’t take a ride with Robin, that would be the best thing to do.
“Hey, Ivana, what is wrong?” Kate, who was waiting for me by the school gate, looked at me all over as I tried to catch my breath. “Why are you sweating as if you ran all the way here?”
“I almost missed the bus, so I ran,” I responded and exhaled sharply. When I arrived at the bus stop it was already leaving I had to chase for it to stop and also the bus stop was a bit far from our school when I was dropped off I had to run to attend the first class.
“Has the class started?” I asked when I finally caught my breath, my head and heart were already tired of cursing Robin.
“It is about to start, let's go,” Kate told me and we both quickened our pace to meet up.
The bell rang and I stepped out of the hall with Kate. I was happy that we both had the same class today. It won’t be boring knowing that I have to space around the building alone while I wait for her class to be over.
“What do we do now?” Kate asked me, we still had an hour before our next class so a smile spread through my face.
“I think we should go check out how to join a practice group, what do you think?” The friendship I shared with Kate was the best. We both have to agree on something together before taking action.
“That reminds me, I saw a stamp somewhere with rule books,” I lifted my brows curiously waiting for her to explain further but instead she held my hands. “Follow me.”
Kate was excited to show me what she had seen that she made me walk quickly and I mistakenly ran into something hard and I tripped, taking down whoever I had bumped into.
“Ouch!” I whined with my eyes shut.
“Are you okay?” I heard a deep tantalizing male voice ask and I gently opened my eyes and I was staring into the eyes of the most enchanting person ever and I blink severely to make sure it was not a dream.
“Are you okay?” The voice came again, snapping me off my thoughts and I quickly got up.
“Y-yes I am fine.” I straightened my hair and tucked it behind my hair wanting to look sexier even though I was not wearing my best outfit and had just made the worst impression.
“Are you sure?” He asked as he scanned me all through to make sure.
“I am fine,” I said this time with a smile, glad that at least my prince charming was nice and caring unlike the other- I paused when I glance at Hinn Carlos and saw the devil’s eyes staring at me with disgust, just when I was about cursing him again in my head.
I looked away from Robin and turned my attention back to Hinn. “I am okay,” I assured him with a soft voice wanting to look appealing, this was our first time speaking to each other anyway.
“Alright then,” He smiled and paused like he remembered something. He tucked his hand into his pocket and took out what looked like a business card. “Here is my contact,” he hands it over to me and I look down at it. “Call me if you feel hurt in any way.”
My heart leaps for joy, I am not only talking to Hinn Carlos, but he was also giving me his number, this was just so awesome, but the other voice in my head sneered at me, telling me he thinks I am poor and won’t treat myself if I get an injury, but I push that thought away, Hinn Carlos wasn’t like that.
“I am truly fine.” I raised my eyes and stared into his deep eyes that were staring at me with something I can’t describe and my heartbeat seemed to accelerate and I wish no one could hear it now.
“Still call me,” He tilts his head and smiles at me, coupling it with a sweet wink. “Let’s go, Robin.” He told Robin but his eyes never left mine until he walked away with Robin.
“Unbelievable!” I heard Kate exclaim and I turned to look at her, just now I forgot she was standing next to me. “Ivana, you have just earned a lottery,” Kate looked down at the card Hinn gave to me. “Can I also have his contact?”
I chuckled. “I thought you told me you don’t find Hinn Carlos attractive anymore?”
“That is true though… I was only staring at the guy next to him,” I raised my brow. The only person next to the Inn at that time was Robin. “I should bump into him and make him give me his contact too, what do you think?”
Kate asked for my suggestion and my head screamed NO, I could only imagine what Robin would do if Kate happened to bump into him. Robin was a mean rascal and I wouldn’t want my best friend to have that encounter with him.
“I think we should go find the rule book,” I told her, putting the card Hinn gave me in my pocket.
“Ah- I forgot that for a moment.” We both started our journey again and this time Kate couldn’t stop talking about Robin. “He is very attractive, I should find out what his name is and get his number too…”
