CHAPTER 17 : Drunk Call
While Luna was facing some life problems, on the other hand, Clell was also facing a crisis of his own as Ayame was in their house all the time, trying to get his attention and at the same time find out the truth behind Clell’s incessant refusal of their union. These past few days, with this whole arranged marriage going on, she found an excuse to shove herself to Clell and constantly hovered around him—making him food and buying him things.
The morning of the same day as Alicia’s flight, as soon as he woke up, Ayame was already waiting for him in their dining area while talking to Fenris.
“Oh, you’re awake.” She said the moment she noticed Clell approaching the area. Clell just nonchalantly walked past her and went straight to the kitchen to get some food.
“Where are you going? Food’s already set on the table.”
“I prefer our chef cooking my food. Also, I’ll eat in my room, I have a lot of things to do.”
After he was done getting his food, like he said, he went straight back into his room. He checked his phone subsequently and noticed a message from Alicia.
“Hi, I know you and Luna have something to sort out. I am off to have a vacation, maybe you can sort things out with her.”
“Thank you for your concern about us, Alicia. I didn't want to hurt your best friend, I am so sorry."
"Don't apologize to me, you don't owe me anything. Apologize to Luna instead, she's the one you hurt. Anyway, whatever it is that you are both going through I'm sure you can still fix it. Good luck, Clell, and please don't hurt her again."
"I’ll try to talk to her in the next few days.” He replied, blankly staring outside his bedroom window. He was lost in trance by just observing the trees as their leaves swayed with the gentle morning breeze when someone knocked on his door.
“Clell.” Ayame said through the door.
“Clell, your dad said that you have to bring me to your companies today and introduce me to the staff for we will both lead them in the future. I’ll just wait for you downstairs.”
“Let’s just meet in the company. You have your own car. No need to bother waiting for me. Also, there’s no WE. I won’t marry you.” Clell replied apathetically.
“We can’t go on separate cars, we’re a couple now.”
“Says who?”
“Say everyone.”
“Everyone but me. We’re not a couple, Ayame. Leave.”
Back on Luna’s apartment, Luna was having mixed feelings with her alone time—she was happy for it had been a while since she had this amount of time just for herself, but despondent at the same time for all this free time made her think about Clell even more.
It was already evening and she was still undecided on what to eat for dinner. Pasta seemed scrumptious to her at first, but after checking their pantry—she found nothing, but an empty space. She forgot that they haven’t bought groceries for the month, because they were so busy with work. After a few debate with herself, she decided to a club and have a drink instead.
“A single lady can go to a club and have fun, right? It’s not a bad thing.” She said, trying to convince herself about her decision. With that, she changed into a body-fitting black dress that highlighted her features and went off to the club.
As someone who was not used to crowds—or didn’t like crowds—Luna didn’t enjoy the ambiance of the club and the loud music, but she still stayed anyway, trying to man-up for her decision to have fun. She stayed at farthest table and ordered a few shots of tequila and started chugging them.
"Weeewww!" She screamed as she took another shot.
"One pro of defusing your emotions in the club is that no one can hear me no matter how much you scream."
She's not used to drinking, it was shocking to her how much she had been enjoying the taste of alcohol at the moment. To her, every shot felt like an aid to her broken heart--gradually mitigating the pain, making it quite bearable. However, although it was a great help in temporarily mending her heart, it had taken a toll on her consciousness and rationale. After a few shots, the alcohol was already getting into her. Her body was moving to its own accord, swaying and jamming to the music. The more drunk she was, the number she felt, but she couldn't still stop herself from thinking about Clell.
Before taking another shot, she raised her glass and talked to it as if it was Clell.
"You jerk! How dare you hurt me?"
"How dare you come into my peaceful life and fuck things up?"
"How dare you put me into a whirlwind?"
"How dare you, Clell? How dare you?" Her tears started to fall from her droopy eyes, and the next thing she knew she was already crying her heart's out.
"I will never wear my heart on my sleeves again. Not again."
After realizing how pathetic she must've looked like in club--where people supposed to have fun--Luna started laughing at herself.
"What have you done to me, Clell?" and drowned herself with a few more shots afterwards.
“Hello? Luna?”
She didn't know how it happened--on how she contacted Clell--all she knew was that Clell was speaking on the other line.
“Wazzup? Why did you call, jerk?” she said.
“What do you mean what’s up? You’re the one who called.”
“Ohhh. Sorry. I’ll hang up now.” She managed to utter while having hiccups and sobs in between.
“Where are you?”
“Nowhere. Don’t mind me.”
“Where are you? Are you drunk?” Clell asked with a worried voice.
“Don’t act like you’re concern with me, heartbreaker.”
“Where are you?”
“I’m at the Club.”
“Which one?”
“Who cares!”
“LUNA!”
“Ugghhhh!” she groaned and ended up telling him the club that she’s into. A few minutes later, someone grabbed her from behind, trying to help her stand up as she was already leaning face-down on the table.
“Don’t touch!” she protested.
“Luna! Let’s get you home.”
“I don’t want to go home.”
“I’ll take you home.”
“Who are you?”
“Clell.”
“Oh, the dumbass who broke my heart.”
“Come on.”
However, Luna refused to go, so Clell didn’t have a choice to carry her—bridal style—and brought her to his car. Although they didn’t go to Luna’s apartment, she was too adamant not to go home, so Clell opted to bring her to his home instead after telling their servants to hide everything that will link or give a hint about their family's wolf lineage. He wanted to make their home as homey and normal as possible before brining Luna in.
