CHAPTER 20 : Anger and Lies

“Oh my god! That’s Luna. She’s alive?” Ayame had been following Luna the moment she saw her walk down the stairs from Clell’s room. At first, she was still unsure if it was really Luna because she was used to seeing Luna with silver hair. She only followed Luna until Luna reached the car, but it was enough time for her to make sure and confirm Luna’s identity.
“Everyone thought she was dead during her eighteenth birthday. When dad found out about her escape, he ordered a few men to go after her to bring her back and if she wouldn’t come home with them, he ordered them to kill her. Why is she still alive?”
Befuddled Ayame was wondering and thinking to herself how her younger sister was still alive when she even saw one of her dad’s soldiers bring a heart to prove that he killed Luna. They even rewarded him a big amount of bounty for doing that.
“Dad wanted Luna dead when he had another dream again. It was something to do with Luna being the cause of obliteration of the Summer Pack. Hence, he wanted to get rid of her right away, but she is still alive until now. How?”
Ayame was furious about what she had found out, so she went back to Clell’s house to get her things and so that she can go home right away to the Summer Pack, gritting to spill the news to her dad. However, when she entered the house and went pass through the living area, she saw Clell aiding his deep cut. Clell’s puffy eyes were not unnoticed by Ayame’s observing eyes as well.
“Are you okay?”
Ayame ran towards Clell, worried and curious about what happened to him.
“Don’t touch me!”
“Hey, I just want to help.”
“I didn’t ask for your help. I don’t want your help.”
“Oh my god, Clell. Stop being so stubborn. Come on, let me.” But as soon as she reached out to aid him, Clell forcefully nudged her hands.
“I said stop! It’ll heal soon. I DON’T NEED YOUR HELP.”
“Uhm. I saw a girl run out from your bedroom earlier. Is she your girlfriend?” Ayame made her voice as calm as possible, making sure she didn’t come off as prying too much.
“None of your business.”
“It seems like you’re crying, did you two broke up?”
“I said none of your business, Ayame.”
“Fine. Fine.” She said, but deep inside her, she was cursing Luna for getting something that she desired again. All her life she had been second best--always next to Luna. When they were younger, Luna always had the attention of their parents and every member of the pack. The moment Luna was born, Ayame was already jealous at her younger sister.
“That bitch!” She thought to herself.
“She always gets what I want!” Just thinking about Luna made her hands clenched in their own accord. Ayame was already fuming inside.
“What are you thinking?”
“Uhh! Nothing!”
However, he still gave her a questioning look which made her a bit nervous. “I…uhhh. I need to go. I have something urgent to tend to. I won’t be having breakfast with you today.” She stood up from Clell’s side and headed back to the guest room that she occupied.
She started packing the things that she needed and dialed their family driver’s number and asked him to fetch her.
“Can you fetch me at the Winter Pack. I didn’t bring my car with me.”
“Yes, ma’am. I’ll be on my way.”
“Hurry up!”
“Right away, Miss Ayame!”
Ayame was pacing back and forth in the guest room, eager to tell Connall everything and, at the same time, planning to get rid of Luna.
“She will not get in the way with me again!”
“I will not let it happen! Not this time. Not again!”
It took about thirty minutes for Ayame’s driver to arrive, and she ran outside right away when her driver called her and told her that he’s already there.
“What took you so long?”
“Sorry, Miss Ayame.”
“Let’s go! Hurry up!”
“What’s wrong, Miss Ayame?”
“JUST HURRY UP!” she shouted at the driver.
On the way home, Ayame couldn’t stay still. She kept on tapping the case of her phone, hence, the driver sped up a lot upon seeing her demeanors.
“It must be an urgent matter.” He thought to himself.
The twenty-minute drive home felt like forever to Ayame, she was about to burst out of anger. Even before the driver parked the car, she already went out and ran towards their home.
“Daaaad!” she shouted.
“Daaaadd, where are you?”
“Daaaaaaddd?”
Someone answered her, finally, but it wasn’t the person she was looking for. “What’s wrong Ayame? Did something happen?”
“Moooom! Oh my god, mooom!! You wouldn’t believe who I saw!”
“What? Who?”
“Mooom! She’s alive!”
“Who’s alive?”
“MOOOM! She’s alive! I can’t believe she’s alive!” Ayame had finally poured and expressed herself after all that holding back at Clell’s house. She was frantic, angry and jealous at the same time. Her emotions came crashing down on her all at once.
“Who’s alive? Ayame, relax. Answer me.”
“LUNA! Luna’s alive!”
“I thought….is she alright?”
“What do you mean?? If she’s alive then we will cease to exist! What will happen to our pack, mom?”
“Relax. Calm down.”
“Where’s dad?”
“He’s in a meeting right now.”
“I need to see him.”
“He will be back soon! Calm down. I’m sure Connall knows how to handle this situation. He always knows what to do. Why don’t you rest inside your room first? Okay.” Her mom said as she was rubbing Ayame’s back, trying to calm her down. She also escorted Ayame in her room and made her rest.
Ayame was already asleep when Connall arrived home, he went directly to Ayame’s room the moment he heard the news from his wife. He wanted to know the details from Ayame.
Connall sat beside Ayame on her bed and tried to shake her gently, “Ayame. Wake up.”
After a few shakes, Ayame finally opened her eyes. She hoisted herself up right away when she saw her dad.
“Dad!” she said, sounding worried.
“What happened?”
“I saw Luna ta Clell’s house.”
“Did you talk to her?”
“She’s planning something dad. She’s trying to make Clell fall in love with her. She’s the one behind Clell not wanting to have this union. This is her first step. She will obliterate each and everyone of us by using the Winter Pack.”
“Are you sure about this?”
“Yes, I heard it from her mouth.” She tried to maintain her feigned worries, but she couldn’t help but smirk by seeing how her dad fell from her words.
“It’s better for us to hunt her down. I’ll call a meeting right away.”
