CHAPTER 24 : Vicious and Vile

Clell fell asleep to the lulling sound of tranquility at dawn, although he didn’t intend to as he wanted to stay up and watch over Luna. Nevertheless, it was a brief slumber for he was then awaken by Luna’s words—her high fever inadvertently made her talk during her sleep.
Her soft and weak voice rang through Clell’s ears, “I—I know..” Luna uttered as if she was struggling to speak each word.
“I know your secret, Clell.”
“What secret?” Clell replied nervously, checking if she was awake or not. Her words made him hold his breath for a while, and only exhaled when he found out that she was still sleeping. Although knowing that she was still in deep slumber wasn’t as comforting to him as it should be, it only made him more nervous and confused for an unconscious mind often the one that speaks the truth.
“What did she find out?”
“You—” she spoke again. “You are—”
“I am what?” he asked as he lay down beside her, face-to-face.
“I hate you.” Her words felt like knives to him, ceaselessly stabbing his chest.
“Why do you suddenly hate me that much when I thought we’re falling in love?” he uttered with anguish in his voice and grimace on his face.
“I hate all of you.” Were Luna’s last words.
Clell couldn’t go back to sleep, trying to find out or decode the things that Calli said in her sleep.
“Did she find out about me being a werewolf?”
“Do human beings really believe that werewolves exist?”
“Is she scared of me? of my kind?”
“It doesn’t make sense. She wouldn’t have any gist about our kind if she’s just an ordinary human.”
“I’m sure she didn’t know about me being a werewolf. What am I thinking?”
He kept shifting on the sofa bed as he tried to come up with answer about Luna’s sudden changed of demeanor and treatment towards him.
“I mean I hurt her and , yes, she should hate me for that.”
“But I think there’s something aside from that.”
“I think there’s something that I didn’t know.”
“Or maybe I am just overthinking things. Maybe she does hate me because I hurt her, even if I know that she has trust issues. Even if I know that she’s not the type of girl that immediately let people in. She let me in, even if she was scared, I know that. I can feel that she’s scared, I can see how she broke down her walls for me, but I wasted that. I wasted that because I got scared, too. I got scared that telling her everything would only lead to our love’s demise. I am scared that if she knows the truth, she will stay away from me. I don’t want to lose her, but my cowardice led to the things that I am scared at. How?” a single tear fell from his eye, as he stared at Luna and gently placed his palm on her face, his thumb moving circles on her right cheek.
“Tell me. Tell me how can I win you back? What does it take for you to give me another chance? I’ll give you everything, Luna. Everything.”
He was not sure how, but Luna was also crying in her sleep as if she heard everything he said. She reached for his hand on her cheek as if she was just feigning her snooze, and held it tightly as she could as if telling him not to give up on them yet even it felt like she was pushing him away. He held on to her hand as well and closed his eyes.
However, all of that was never unseen from observing eyes. Ayame being so determined to following Luna the moment she left her apartment at noon, even to Ciro’s house, and now to Clell’s house. She remained hidden in the woods—eyes locked at the window of Clell’s window, watching their every move. She wanted to stay longer, but looking at Clell being so madly in love with Luna was both an eyesore and a heartache to her end. She couldn’t bare it. So, she walked away, furious and shattered at the same time.
“I’ll kill you, Luna. No matter what it cost. I’m going to be the one who ends your life.” She muttered to herself as she sped up her pace to go home to the Summer pack and report everything to Connall.
Ayame was fuming on her way back that all the animals she encountered in the woods were left on the ground as she poured all her rage to them. When she arrived back home, she hurriedly looked for her dad.
“Dad!” she called her through telepathy.
“Dad! Where are you?”
“In my office.” He finally replied and Ayame, without delay, went to Connall’s office.
“Any information regarding Luna’s whereabouts?”
“I already know her apartment.”
“Great work, Ayame.” Connall praised her.
“However, she is also starting to execute her plans.”
“What do you mean?”
“She is now at Clell’s house. I saw them talking. She already has Clell wrapped up around her fingers. I’m sure if she tells Clell to attack our pack, he would.”
“And Fenris doesn’t know about this?”
“I’m not entirely sure about that, but I’m sure Clell will challenged Fenris soon for him to become Alpha. I mean he ought to be Fenris’ successor.”
“That would be likely.”
“And soon enough Fenris’ words and decision will weigh little to nothing to the Winter Pack when Clell already has the title, and Clell being controlled by Luna would mean Luna has the power of the winter pack. She will use them to have her revenge on us.”
“We can’t let that happen. We need to execute her as soon as possible—or, at the very least, hold her captive—before she can strike at us.”
“I can’t believe she’s our family, dad. How can she do this to her pack? The Summer pack’s blood runs through her veins, I can’t believe she can bear and endure watching us suffer. She is vicious and vile.”
“Watch over her for the mean time as I prepare the soldiers of our pack. Tail her every move.”
Hearing Connall’s words made Ayame smirk, knowing that everything was going according to her plan.
“So long, my little sister.” She thought to herself.
