CHAPTER 31 : The Plan
After getting a hint on Luna’s whereabout, the morning of the next day, Clell went to the pack immediately and gathered his soldiers. He knew that every move he makes and no matter what he does, as the new alpha, the pack will be involved. He wanted to give them a heads-up and, most importantly, he knew that he needs their help.
“I’ve gathered you here today to satiate you about everything that has been happening. A few days ago my father held a meeting--or gathering--to inform you about him deciding to make peace with the Summer Pack.” Clell started off the moment the meeting commenced.
“I know everyone has a lot of questions in their mind right now and now’s the perfect time for you to let it out. Let’s clear things out right here, right now. I want to be a leader that also listens to his members, each and everyone of you is valued and will be heard.” he continued.
Someone spoke up after Clell’s short speech, “I am just confused as to why you don’t want to make peace with the Summer Pack. I thought you value us, not making amends with the Summer Pack will continually put our lives in danger.”
“Knowing the Summer Pack and their vile and cunning behavior, they can’t be trusted. I am not sure if we’ll agree to them, they will treat everyone nicely or, at least, be civil.” Clell answered.
“I think there’s something more to it. I am sorry if I seem to be prying too much.” Someone butted in.
“No, not at all. Actually, you are right, there is something more.”
“Will you let us know everything?” an old member of the pack said.
“I—I, uhmm.” Clell was hesitant, at first, for he didn’t want to sound selfish to his subordinates, but he knew they deserve to know everything.
“I met this girl a few months ago and it was the most wonderful days of my life. She made feel everything. I am sure that she is my mate. We all know, as wolves, how important our mates are to us. She is important to me. Although this may sound as selfish to everyone, but as the alpha of this pack and her as my mate--she is as important as me and you all have to protect her too as much as you protect and care for me. I am not here to ask, this is an order.”
Everyone was intently listening to Clell, wanting to have an answer and to know the truth.
“As if destiny is toying with us, it happens that she's also one of the daughters of the alpha of the Summer Pack. I know, judging from all of your facial expressions. She's the daughter of the enemy, how can we trust her? While others might think, she's the daughter of the alpha of the Summer Pack, why don't I marry her instead and make peace with the Summer Pack. Here is your answer, she ran away from the pack, because she was bullied, physically and emotionally abused and mistreated by everyone in their pack. I've known her long enough to know that she can be trusted.” Clell continued.
“If they can do that even to the daughter of the alpha, what makes you think that they will treat us nicely when we’re not even related to them. The Summer Pack is vile. I don’t want everyone to get hurt, I am just protecting everyone—and.”
“—and, of course, protect my mate. The soon to be Luna of this pack. Which leads us to the reason why I gathered you here today. This meeting is not only about answering all of your questions, but I also want everyone to know about my plans and the preparations we have to make.”
“What for?”
“Right now, the girl I am talking about is held captive by the Summer Pack. The main goal is to rescue her, but at the same time I want to make a statement to the Summer Pack.”
“I think we have been lurking and staying away from the spotlight for too long, we grow lenient. Before, we were the ones dominating this war, we have to let them know that we are not cowering from them. That we are not someone they can control.”
The encouraging speech that Clell uttered stirred everyone’s spirit and they released a loud fighting howl after Clell finished talking.
“FOR LOVE!” Clell chanted.
“FOR LOVE!” Everyone followed him.
“FOR HONOR!”
“FOR HONOR!”
“FOR GLORY!”
“FOR GLORY!”
“FOR FREEDOM!”
“FOR FREEDOM!”
“FOR THE WINTER PACK!”
“FOR THE WINTER PACK!”
After that, Clell started telling them about the plan and asking them for some suggestions.
“We will go at night, so that they won’t expect us.”
“One team will go to the south, the other to the north and then east and west. We will surround their territory.”
“Two groups will be on standby for rescue purposes. You will stay close to the vicinity and must always be prepared to jump in to save those who are in great danger or in dire need for help.”
“You will bring the injured soldier back to our territory and let the elders aid them.”
“This wil not be a fight of a lifetime. At least not yet. However, this won't be a fight like before either because we have to make a statement to them.”
“How will we rescue your mate, Master Clell?”
“I will look for her and fight with you when I get her to the teams on standby. Please bring her directly to the pack’s territory afterwards and make sure she’s safe.”
“Do you want two soldiers to accompany you, master? Just to make sure.”
“I’ll be alright. I don’t want to divide everyone’s focus. Your mind should be focus on the battle and surviving. Don’t worry about me. No casualties as much as possible, I don't to lose anyone of you, that's an order.”
“Understood.” The soldiers answered in unison.
“The first team will be..” Clell said and continued dividing the members of the Winter Pack into different teams.
“Look after each and everyone.” He uttered when he was done assigning everyone to their respective groups.
“And, lastly, before we will end this meeting, I would like to thank each and everyone. Thank you for accepting me as your new alpha, thank you for staying by my side, thank you for fighting for the pack. May our ancestors guide us in this fight and let us borrow their powers for a while.”
“Later today we will offer to our ancestors to ask for their guidance. The two of you, please hunt two wolves and two deer for the offering ritual.” Clell ordered while pointing two soldiers, sitting in front.
“We will go right away.”
“Thank you!”
With that, the meeting of the Winter Pack ended.
