CHAPTER 33 : Where is your sister?
“Go go go go!” the leader of one of the groups uttered.
“Make sure to be as discreet as possible even when running.”
And everyone shifted to their wolf form as they went to their respective routes.
Clell decided that he will enter the Summer Pack first, posing as someone who wanted to make peace with them. He will then communicate with the leaders of the groups and signal them when to make the move.
“Good evening, Clell.” Ayame greeted chirpily.
“Good evening, Ayame.” Clell replied, sounding so chirpy as if he had no other motives at all. "Where would they hide her?" He thought to himself and subtly scanned the house with is eyes. The place looked classical with a lot of antique furnitures unlike their house that looked more modern, but it looked elegant nonetheless.
"Where are you, Luna?" He thought.
“What made you visit us this late?” Connall butted in, gesturing Clell to have a seat.
“I just want to talk about your proposal.” he lied.
“Why are you here instead of Fenris?”
“I see you’re not up to date with the latest news.” Clell said with a little smirk.
“We’ve been busy lately.”
"You bastard!" was Clell's thoughts.
“Busy? That must’ve been so important for you to stay out of the loop.” he finally replied.
“So why don’t you stop beating around the bush and satiate me of what had happened these past few days on your end.”
“Ah, yes. Allow me to inform you, old Sir. I am the new alpha of the pack and I want to know whatever you and my father discussed in his office last time before he called me in.”
“Well, nothing much really.”
“Let me hear your full proposal and how did it end with me marrying your daughter.”
“Well, I told your dad that I was sorry for causing him pain before and for being the reason why he left the pack. I told him that I don’t want to continue being like that—enemies. We are getting older each day, we can’t live like this for the rest of our lives.”
“And that took you two decades to realize?” Clell argued and scoffed afterwards.
“Well, the wolves’ pride is really something, Clell. You know that.” Connall argued back.
“I don’t know that. If you were genuine and you really cared about my dad then this war shouldn’t have started a long time ago, but you saw him as a threat. That was why you made sure he’s out of your sight and the pack.”
“Clell…” Connall stopped him, his voice sounding as if he was asking him for the true intentions of his visit.
“Okay. Okay, I am not here to fight. So, let’s go back to your proposal.” Clell said to avoid more suspicions.
“That was it.”
“And about the marriage?”
“We need something to show to the members of each pack that we really are united already, hence, the marriage.”
“So, why must I marry Ayame and not your youngest daughter? I can’t choose from the both of them?”
“What? How?” Ayame said feigning to be shocked, as if she didn't know about Clell and Luna's relationship. Connall, on the other hand, kept quiet.
“Hmmm. As the new alpha, I have to know about the details, specially the pack that wants to make amends with us. May I know why you didn’t mention her last time as if she doesn’t exist.” Clell continued, still clueless that Connall and Ayame knew about him and Luna.
“Because she doesn’t want to be involved in this kind of things.” Ayame answered. She and Connall shared a gaze afterwards.
“Oh, so you’re close with her, Ayame?”
“I—Uhhh. Uhmm. Yes.” She hesitated to answer at first, but then finished her sentence sounding confident as if she was being honest.
"You liar!" Clell thought to himself, his anger seething in him.
“Really? So may I know where she is right now?” He asked.
“Why do you want to know? Do you know her?” Ayame asked back.
“Two can play this game, Clell. Don't try me.” She thought to herself.
“Because I want to get to know her too.”
“And why is that?”
“Well, Ayame, if I want to make peace with your pack and marry you, I have to know each and everyone of your family. We need to be honest with each other if we want to make this work.”
“She’s not here. She’s been living far from here since she attended college.”
"Lies. Lies. Lies. I am going to shut that mouth of yours." Clell thought, but he answered her as friendly as possible.
“Hmmm. Are you sure about that?”
“Yes.”
“Clell, if you really want to get to know her then we have an album with her pictures in it.” the mother of Ayame said.
“Mom. This is not your business.”
"So--sorry, Ayame. I didn't mean to." her mother said.
“Enough, Ayame! Don’t talk to your mother like that.”
“Well, may I have a tour in your pack’s territory then?”
“Right now? You won’t see anything, it’s evening.”
“Believe me, wolves' eyes can see a lot at night. Aren't you a wolf yourself, Ayame?”
“Uhhh--right.”
"How about a tour in your house? I figured if ever we get married, we should choose where to live. Do you want to live here?"
"Luna, can you hear me?" Clell tried connecting to Luna through telepathy.
"H--he--here? No need, we will live in your place instead."
“Are you hiding something? Why are you so tense?” He asked.
"Damn! I can't connect to her. Where are they hiding her?" Clell thought, growing more anxious. "Is she okay?"
“No, but we can have the tour tomorrow.”
“Okay, whatever you want, princess.”
Ayame felt her heart skipped a beat and felt the butterflies in her stomach when Clell called her princess. She gave him a flirtatious smile as a response. Clell flirted with her in return.
Before heading out from the house of Ayame, he signaled the groups through his mind.
“They didn’t suspect a thing. When I step out of their door, prepare yourself.” he told each leaders that he assigned.
“Noted, young master.” They answered in unison.
The moment he walked out, he stared at the woods at front. "Where are they hiding you, Luna? How can I rescue you if I don't know where you are?"
