CHAPTER 27 : Confession

A day had passed since Luna and Clell had an argument and her storming out of his room, Luna felt something different in her since that day. Despite acknowledging that she felt something for Clell before, she was still unsure if it was really love or admiration, but right now her feelings for him had been bugging her.
“I—I’m not sure why I am feeling this way.”
“Is he really—” she continued, covering her mouth, scared to finish her sentence. She didn’t want to say it even to herself, she felt that saying it was like admitting that she was imprinted to Clell.
“No, he can’t be.”
“He shouldn’t be. Ughhh.” She growled, covering her face with a pillow to muffle her scream. She stayed on her bed for a while, refusing to succumb to her feelings.
“Ugghhhh. I remember how my parents described this feeling.” She sighed.
She got interrupted when her phone rang, it was a message notification, so she checked who it was. After knowing who it was, without reading the message, she put her phone back—screen faced on the platform of her bedside table.
“And you really messaged me now—now that I am confused and discombobulated about you and us. Nice timing, Clell.” She released a frustrated groaned again and covered her face with a pillow.
All the confusion and refusal to succumb to her feelings made Luna a bit tired and drowsy, so she inadvertently fell asleep while her pillow still covering half of her face. It was already late at night when she woke up.
She checked her phone first for any new messages and decided to finally read Clell’s message.
“Let’s talk. Please. Meet me at the place where we first saw each other.” Upon reading Clell’s message, the memories of their first meet up came crashing down on Luna which made her feel butterflies in her stomach and smile a little bit.
“Ugh. I hate that you still have that effect on me.” she said under her breath, sounding exasperated. Then proceeded to face her vanity mirror.
“Get yourself together, Luna. Enough.” She reprimanded herself, pointing at her reflection.
However, all that scolding was put to vain because she replied to him and told him that she would come.
“This will be the last time that we will talk, Clell. One last time.” she messaged him back and heard her stomach complained of hunger after hitting send.
“I can’t believe I actually fell asleep. That was the longest sleep I had these past few days, but right now I’m really hungry.” And went to the kitchen to look for food and realizing that she still hadn’t stock up on food supplies. So, she went back to her room to get her phone and ordered pizza instead. After eating her dinner, she stayed up a bit distracting herself with a good book as she was nervous about her meet up with Clell the next day.
Ayame was still lurking around her apartment, even staying there until the next day. She didn’t leave her post even for a brief second, putting her task as her utmost priority. She watched Luna wake up and hoist herself up from her bed.
She scooped her phone out of her bag as she watched Luna eat her breakfast. “Clell hasn’t visited her ever since she came home.” Ayame messaged her dad.
“That’s good to know. Are you okay there? Have you eaten?” Connall replied right away as if he was waiting for her message all along.
“I am, dad. Don’t worry. We need to focus on Luna.”
“Just keep watching over her for now.”
“We can execute the plan when she leaves her house. Hopefully she will.”
On the other hand, Luna was still so caught up with the different emotions she had been having for Clell that she didn’t notice that Ayame was watching over her from a safe distance. She went on with her morning like the usual, her mind still dwelling on deliberating whether Clell was really her mate or not.
“Should I really meet him this afternoon?”
“Should I really go?”
“God, am I doing the right thing?”
“Should I allow myself to be sucked in the werewolf world once again?”
“I mean I am doing fine living an ordinary and mundane life, why should I do this?”
“Ugghhhhh! Clell! I hate how you make me feel.”
After finishing her breakfast, she invested her time into preparing for their meet-up. She had done her skincare and even put a facial mask to look more radiant.
“Why am I even bothering to look presentable and beautiful to him?”
“I mean we will just talk. Luna, what are you doing to yourself?”
“I think I am going insane.”
When the clock hit 3 pm, Luna finally went out of her apartment. She decided to go for a sporty-casual look.
“Dad, Luna is on the move.” Ayame hurriedly texted her dad.
“The soldiers of our pack will meet you along the way, just follow her where ever she goes.”
“Copy, dad. I’ll tail her.”
After Ayame and Connall's conversation, Ayame saw Luna getting in to a cab. So, she also hastily turned on the engine of her car, preparing to tail her like they had planned.
It took Luna’s cab around 30 minutes to reach the Notorious Trail, Luna went out of the cab and thanked the driver first before paying him for the ride.
She released a deep sigh as she looked fixedly at the entrance of the trail, “This brings back so many memories. I can’t believe how my life changed in just a few months or even days.” She muttered and decided to walk towards their meet-up place.
Clell was already waiting at the spot where he first saw Luna, it was an unlikely place to eat and be romantic with but he brought food nonetheless. He was preparing everything, laying the box of pizza and fries on the ground—Luna’s comfort food, when he saw Luna at the side of his eyes.
“You’re here.” He said, making his voice louder so that she could hear him from where she was standing.
“Come on, I’ve prepared something.” He gestured her to come down.
“I thought we are just going to talk?” she responded, raising her voice just enough for him to hear her, and proceeded to go down to their spot.
Her heart was beating so fast the moment she saw how Clell made the spot of the accident look romantic. He put petals around them and laid the bouquet at the big rock where she was supposed to sit. He lit some scented candles and put it on top of the pizza box.
“You like it?” Clell asked her as soon as she reached the spot. Luna just nodded back at him.
“Do you want to eat first?”
She nodded again and said, “Thank you!”
Clell moved the candles to the side and opened the pizza and fries. He then motioned her to get a slice, in which she obliged. When she finished her first slice, Clell started talking.
“I know how I messed up and I want to make it right this time.”
“I am not lying when I told about my family being wolves. I hope you believe me.”
Luna just stared at Clell, but this time she was eager to hear him out.
“And as a wolf, we have this thing called mate.”
“It is someone we felt attracted and connected to. Someone we want to spend the rest of our life with. Someone we couldn’t live without. The old ones in our pack would always say that we will know when we find that someone, and I didn’t understand that at first until I met you.”
“I love you, Luna. And this may sound bizarre to you, I know, because you’re an ordinary human, but believe me when I say that you are my mate. I don’t want to lose you. Please give me another chance and let’s work this out.”
Luna’s tears started to fall while listening to Clell’s genuine confession, she didn’t know what to say to him.
“Aren’t you gonna say anything?” Don’t cry, missy. I love you so much.”
