CHAPTER 36 : A Sudden Change

"You are the prophecy. If you start believing in yourself, in who you are, and connect with your soul, you can do everything. You are stronger than you think, Luna. Believe in yourself." Luna heard different kind of voices in her head, they were all simultaneously saying the same phrase just like in her dreams.
"I am the prophecy and I can do everything." she told herself.
She kept repeating those words in her head, then she felt an electricity came rushing through her veins--from the toes of her feet to her head. She felt a sudden tingle in her nape. Then she started losing air, she couldn't breathe.
"The Luna before would've panicked, but I am different now. I accept who I am. I accept my destiny. Focus, Luna." she thought to herself.
She started controlling her breathing--slow and steady. Her heart felt like it was getting burned just like her lungs. She felt as if her insides were set ablaze. Her muscles started feeling thick and stiff, but she felt stronger.
"Focus, Luna." she reminded her self.
And when she opened her eyes--it was fiery like the flames she felt in her heart--and set her gaze to Ayame, she finally turned into a wolf.
Ayame took a few steps back, unable to believe of what she was seeing.
“Stay away!” Luna exclaimed.
“You—you can shift?”
“Why do you care?”
“Since when? Since when did you shift?”
“Again, why do you care? After that speech you had earlier, I am pretty sure where I stand in your life, Ayame.”
“Attack her!” Ayame ordered the guards that she’s with.
“But—but, Miss Ayame, what if she’s really the one in the prophecy? Are you sure we should attack her?”
“You heard me once, don’t make me say it twice.” Ayame replied, glaring at the four guards and shifted her gaze to Luna.
“You! I’ll make sure you won’t stay out of this alive!”
“Try me!” Luna challenged.
The four guards started speeding up towards Luna. Luna, on the other hand, felt like her body had a mind of its own as it somehow moved to its own accord, preparing Luna for the attack.
She managed to dodge and land a few deep scratches to the guards at the same time. She too was shocked about everything, she felt a different kind of strength in her—she felt stronger. She felt like she can read the movements and attacks of her opponents. She felt like she was moving a bit faster than she’s used to.
“Is that all you got?” Luna mocked the guards to bait them, in which they did. They attacked impulsively, and Luna easily countered, knocking two of the guards down.
Ayame decided to join the fight, bumping Luna’s sides and making her lost a bit of balance.
“You really don’t know how to fight fairly. You disgust me, Ayame.”
“Attack Clell. I’ll handle her.” Ayame ordered.
As soon as Luna noticed what Ayame was planning, she ran back towards the area where Clell was resting and trying to regain his strength.
“Hang on, Clell. I’ll get us out of here.” She muttered to herself.
However, Ayame’s plan to attack at the same time with the guards somehow worked. Luna was quite confused on who to block first, culminating to one guard managing to claw Clell once again.
“Ahhhh!” Clell screamed in agony.
Luna shifted her attention to the guards and knocked them over, but Ayame was attacking her too from behind. Ayame jumped at Luna’s black, claws wide open—piercing them deep.
Luna growled at Ayame, her blue eyes turning into pitch dark devoid of any emotion but anger and resent. She started going rampage at the four guards, deeply wounding all of them.
However, when it came down to Ayame and her, she couldn’t bring herself to hurt or even scratch Ayame a little. She still treated her as family and with respect.
“What’s the matter? Are you scared?” Ayame asked, befuddled as to why her younger sister’s not attacking her.
“This will be your last chance, Ayame. The next time you ruin my life, I will show no mercy. You’re lucky I still respect you and see you as my sister.” Luna said.
“Should I be flattered?” Ayame scoffed, running towards Luna who was approaching Clell.
“Rule number 1 in combat, don’t turn your back from your opponent.” Ayame said, but Luna released a loud and strong howl that made Ayame’s knees weak and head bow down to Luna.
“Go back to the pack.” Luna ordered, and Ayame followed Luna’s order despite her mind didn’t want to.
When Ayame was out of the vicinity, Luna shifted back to her human for and attended Clell.
“Are you okay? Can you stand up? Where are your soldiers?”
“I-I’m okay, Luna. Don’t worry.” Clell replied with a faint smile and coughs in between words.
“Don’t lie to me. I know you just to make me feel a little bit better. Let me help you get up.” Luna said, smiling back at Clell.
“I’m sorry.”
“For what?” Clell asked.
“For putting you into this mess.”
“As long as it’s for you, I wouldn’t mind going through anything. I love you, Luna.” Clell proclaimed. Luna couldn’t hold back and hug Clell.
“I love you, too! I’m sorry, Clell.” Luna replied, tears falling from her eyes. Her smile showed relief and ease while Clell was wincing in pain due to Luna’s hug.
“Uhmm. We might hold back on hugs for the meantime.”
“Ohhh. Sorry.”
“It’s okay.” Were Clell’s few words before his lips touched Luna’s lips and shared a deep and passionate kiss.
“I miss you!” Luna said, almost breathless.
“And I miss you more, missy.”
“Where are your soldiers? I need to take you there so that they can bring you back to your pack’s territory and aid you.”
“Ah, they’re over there.”
“Can you stand up?”
“I might need a little help.”
“You can lean on me. Here, let me help you.” Luna said as she extended her hand for Clell to grab.
“Thank you, Missy!”
It took them around 20 minutes to reach the area where the rescuers of the Winter Pack were camping.
“Young master, are you alright?” someone ran towards them.
“I am, don’t worry. I just need a little rest.”
“We will accompany you back to the pack’s territory.”
“There’s no need. Really. Let me just rest a bit here and I will go back to our brothers, fighting for our pack.”
“Should we send more men? I think a few of us here can just go and fight.”
“Stick to the plan and trust your brothers.”
“Yes, young master.”
“Uhhh, young master. We’ve prepared a tent for you so that you can rest.”
“Thank you.”
“It’s big enough so that Miss Luna can have her rest, too, or would prefer if we bring her back home?”
“No, I’ll stay here. I’ll fight along with you.”
“Luna, I would be at ease if you are safe.”
“Please, Clell, we both know your condition right now. You need more manpower and strength to win. Let me help.”
“I guess there’s no changing your mind, you stubborn girl. Okay, you can stay and help.”
“I can shift now. Don’t worry. Come on, let’s have some rest.” Luna smiled, squeezing Clell’s hand. Clell reciprocated the gesture.
