Chapter 12

Athena's Point of View

I don't know what I'm supposed to do now. Arius was trying a way to distract me, but I won't allow him. Whatever this feeling that I had, it should be stopped. I won't let him win.

Arius headed to the bathroom of this room, so I went to the kitchen to prepare my food. Of course, I have to eat later. There are things that I should do when night comes.

I didn't find Arius anymore. Maybe he left already, and I never dare to find him. He might take a rest because it's vampire's rest now. However, the day ended so soon. Darkness has finally arrived and I was so ready for my mission tonight.

I was preparing to leave when Arius arrived. He looked at me head and toe, so I just raised one of my brows.

“You are ready to leave, huh,”

A smirk formed on my lips from what he mentioned.

“Yes, I am, Arius. I know that your kind starts attacking the mundane now, and I couldn't wait to slay all of them.”

I was even gritting my teeth as I mentioned those words. Arius just sighs and looked deep into my eyes.

“If I just can control them, Athena… However, I couldn't control all of the vampires. They had their own decision. Even though I am their king, I can't do anything to stop them.” He uttered, so I just shook my head.

“It doesn't matter, Arius. I have to go now. This isn't the time for chitchat. It's my time to find revenge. I will find Wanda and let her pay for what she did to me.”

I was even gritting my teeth when I remembered Wanda. She still has debt on me and I will never allow her to roam the street without paying her debt with me.

“Wanda is dangerous, Athena. You can't—”

I didn't allow him to continue what he wanted to say when I already cut him from talking.

“Is it because she's a witch? I don't give a damn, Arius. I am a hunter and I could slay her. She's not the only powerful enemy that I encountered in my mission, so I didn't fear her. It's just that she cornered me last time because of you.”

Arius stared at me with his worried expression. I know what is in his mind right now.

“I am so sorry, Athena. It's not my will to put your life at risk. I didn't even expect that Wanda would be about to do that with you.”

A deep breath escaped from my throat because of what Arius had told me. Wanda was only mad with me at that time because she thought that I was flirting with the demon vampire king. However, she shouldn't hurt me. She's unaware that I am a hunter and if she can do that to a woman like me, how much more with the powerless people?

I have this feeling that she already victimized so many people and Wanda should be captured as soon as possible.

“Let us not talk about that for now, Arius. I need to go and start looking for Wanda. This is my life, and you already know that. I used to stroll the streets during the evening to kill all the evil vampires and other creatures.”

Arius was listening to me. I know he was trying to digest everything that he heard from me.

“Just like you, Arius… You are awake during the evening and your mission is to find something to drink. You killed human beings to victimize and drink their blood. That's what vampires do.” I continued.

“No, you're wrong, Athena. I am maybe a demon vampire king, but I don't kill innocent people. I don't drink human blood because I have stocks. I don't usually stroll the woods or streets to find something to drink because I have stocks.” He responded by making my mouth wide open.

“Then what are you doing in the street? Why are you always there during my mission?” I asked. Arius smiled from what I uttered. He stepped his legs forward, so I also began to step my legs backwards.

I just keep on stepping my feet backwards until I hit my back on the hard cold wall. Arius had already cornered me. He's standing in front of me. His body was too close to me. I could smell his hot, minty breath. Arius doesn't smell blood. It appears like he's not drinking with blood.

“I was only strolling that street because of you, Athena. You are the reason why I was on that street. I am watching you. I make sure that no one would come to hurt you even though I was aware that you can protect yourself. As I said, I wanted to make sure that you're safe.”

I feel my mouth wide open from his words. My heart was even in chaos at this moment. No words wanted to come out of my mouth. I don't know why, either.

It seems like Arius took all the strength in me. As I stared at those ocean blue eyes that he had, it's driving me insane. He has this charismatic appeal that I couldn't resist.

“Arius…”

Finally, a word already escaped from my throat after a minute of staring at each other.

“Athena, I would like to ask for your consent… Can I kiss you?”

I could feel my face flushed from what Arius had inquired of me. I didn't know what to say. The words he uttered made me nervous. My nerves were even shaking.

“W-what kind of question is that? Is it required for you to ask my consent, Arius?” I queried, that made him smirk.

The distance between our faces is just an inch away. I could feel his hot breath against mine, and it seems like he's turning me on. The strands of my hair stand on both ends because of the unexplainable sensation that I had felt right now.

“I want to kiss you, Athena. Your lips were tempting me to taste it and I couldn't control myself anymore, so that's why I want to ask your consent.” Arius explained that it made me bite my upper lips.

“You are—”

I didn't finish my words when Arius already took my lips abruptly.
