Chapter 23

Athena's Point of View

I ran from where that voice came from. As I reached that direction, I could feel my mouth agape when I saw a woman who was cornered by a dark shadow. Its eyes were blazing red. It has sharp teeth and I could say that it's a bad spirit who came from hell.

“Watch out!”

I screamed towards the woman when the dark shadow was about to attack her. The dark shadow turned his gaze in my direction that made me smirk.

“Hunter.”

He mumbled and that made me smirk as more. All of them know me. I am a hunter of everyone. Demons, vampires and other creatures fear me.

“What do you want from this girl?”

The dark shadow just smirked from what I uttered to him. It seemed like he didn't care about me at all.

“It is none of your business, Hunter. Leave us alone. This woman is part of me. She had something to pay me, and you are not in the position to interrupt.”

I was the one smirking now. I even cross my arms in disbelief from what he mentioned to me.

“I will interrupt what you're doing because she's asking for help. You are trying to victimize her, and I will never allow you to do that.” I mumbled and that made him smirked.

I could already feel from this monster's eyes that he's pissed about what I mentioned. However, I was trying to read him to know what his weakness is. I won't let this monster escape. He must die because I have this feeling that he will harass more innocent people just like the poor woman earlier.

“I am not afraid of you, Hunter. I have heard so many things about you, but you can't kill me. No one from your ally can.”

I was still smirking because of him. This monster was confident that I couldn't kill him. However, he messed with the wrong person. If my allies can't kill him, then I could. While the monster was busy talking, I grabbed the opportunity to pull my gun and shot him directly in his heart.

He screamed in pain while his body started to fade away. I shook my head, realizing that it's not hard to end his life.

“Is he dead?”

I turned my head to the woman who spoke. She's the woman who was also killed by the bad spirit from hell.

“Yes, he's dead. How about you? Do you feel fine now?” I inquired about her and the woman nodded her head.

She went near me and I was shocked by what she did. The woman just hugged me and my mouth was agape because of that.

“Thank you for saving my life. I don't know what would happen to me if you didn't come on time.”

I could feel my heart pumping so fast upon hearing what the woman had told me. She's thanking me because I saved her life, and I appreciate that.

“You are most welcome. Saving someone who is in need of my help is my responsibility. I am a hunter and those who need help would probably be saved.”

I explained and she nodded her head. The woman let go of me, and then she stared at me.

“My name is Melissa. It is my pleasure to meet you. This is my first time to witness a brave woman like you who is not scared of her enemies. You inspired me. May the almighty guide you from the missions that you have.”

I smiled from what she mentioned to me.

“It is also my pleasure to meet you, Melissa. My name is Athena. You should go back to your house now and take this event as a lesson. Do not walk at night when you're alone. The streets were so dangerous for a human being like you.”

I reminded her and Melissa just smiled. She even nodded her head and was telling me that she got a reminder.

“Thank you so much, Athena. I have to go, and please be careful.”

After Melissa uttered those words, she already ran away from my direction. I just watched her leaving until she lost in my sight. I let out a sigh before I keep on going. I won't go back to Arius' house without saving so many people.

I just keep on strolling the hallways. I met so many evil vampires and killed a lot tonight. It was almost twelve in the evening already, but I still didn't want to go back. Arius and his woman keep playing into my head. I was still hurt because of them and I couldn't face them for now.

So, I tried to find a place that I could hang up with. Thankfully, I found a bar, so I went inside and found something to drink. Many customers were enjoying themselves inside. Some are dancing already, but that's not what I am thinking now.

I want to be alone to think about what was going on with me. I am so affected by what Arius did. He never informed me that his girlfriend came back. He even forgot to check on me the whole day. I still haven't seen him until now.

“Here's your drink, Madame.”

The bartender gave me my drink, so my thoughts went back to normal. I accepted it and was about to drink it when someone spoke behind me.

“Hey, you're here too!”

It seems like my blood just boiled when I heard Clary's voice. Yes, it's Clary and Arius' girlfriend. I turned my gaze to her. She was with Arius and the others that I didn't know. Arius' eyes and mine met each other. He's looking at me, but his expression is just blank. I don't know what he's thinking now, but one thing I know for sure. He didn't care about my presence.

“I'm glad to see you here, Clary.”

I uttered and the woman just smiled. She looked at Arius and what's painful is how the woman wrapped her hands to Arius.

“Is she your friend, right? I know you are wondering how I met her, Arius. I saw it when I left the room.” She explained that it made me turn my gaze away.

“Don't mind her, Babe.”
