Chapter 15

Athena's Point of View

I really felt something unusual in this place. My instinct won't lie because I am a hunter and I was well trained with my instincts. However, if something bad happened here, my weapon was already prepared.

“Here's your drink, Madame.”

I turned back my head toward the bartender. He gave me my drink, so I took it from him. I was about to drink the liquor when I noticed the bartender staring at me.

“What?” I inquired irritatedly.

“I was wondering what would be your reaction when you drank that liquor, Madame. It's the strongest drink here in the bar. Only a few dared to order that kind of drink and mostly were men.” He explained.

A smirk just formed on my lips because of what he uttered. I drink the liquor in just one time, and I am watching the bartender's reaction.

He's priceless.

He didn't expect that I had the courage to drink that liquor. However, he's not aware that I am a drinker. I have drunk so many kinds of liquor before I met Arius. Drinks are my best buddy. It helps me when I have missions.

“Done.”

I stood up after mentioning those words to leave. However, the bartender spoke, so I turned my gaze back to him.

“I didn't expect you to be that strong, Madame. It's… Wow.” He mumbled, so I just smiled.

“If I have time, I will go back here and order another drink. But for now, I will be leaving. I still have many things to do.”

The bartender nodded his head responding to me. I was about to leave the bar when I heard a loud scream inside the bar. Everyone was alarmed because of that, and me as well.

“Vampires! I was bitten by a vampire. Please help me!”

I gritted my teeth when I heard what the woman had uttered. I pulled my weapon and headed to where that sound came from. The only light that the bar has now is the disco light, but I could still be able to see the place. Thanks to my skill to foresee the night.

“Hey, bloodsucker!”

I took the vampire's attention, so he turned his gaze in my direction. The vampire was smirking and blood was falling from his mouth. I could even hear the customers rushing to get out of the bar. It's just me, the vampire and his victim were left inside.

“Do you also want to die?”

He inquired, so I smirked. The moment that I was about to shoot him with my arrow when someone arrived and strangled the vampire to his neck. My heart pounded so fast when I recognize him.

I never expected that Arius would follow me and interrupt my mission once again. My heart wanted to celebrate out of happiness, but I tried not to. He shouldn't interrupt my mission because this isn't his. It's my mission and this vampire is making me mad.

“I don't need a vampire like you to be my kind. You shouldn't kill innocent people!”

Arius exclaimed and still stroked the vampire to his neck until he died because of choking. The vampire became in ashes. I looked at the poor victim, and she's dead already.

“Are you okay?” Arius inquired, so I looked at him.

“You shouldn't be here in the first place…” I uttered while looking at him.

“I know you don't want me to interfere with your mission, but you can't stop me from being worried about you, Athena. I can't lose you, okay?”

I don't understand myself either. I shouldn't be happy because the demon vampire king was here to help me. I don't need the help of my enemy, but why is it that I can't stop being happy?

I couldn't be furious at what Arius did for me. He was here to follow me because he's worried about me. But, whatever his reasons are… I shouldn't let myself fall for that. It's just his strategies.

However, I couldn't stop thinking of something. What if it's real? What should I do about it?

“This isn't your battle, Arius. You shouldn't be part of my mission. We are enemies, right?” I inquired and Arius just smirked.

The way he smirked makes my nerves shake. I can't form my words well. He caught me off guard.

“You are not sure about that, Athena…” He replied with a smirk on his lips.

“Shut up, Arius. Please leave and don't disturb me anymore. I still have work to do.”

I abruptly turned my head away when Arius was about to go near my direction. It's better to avoid him when I still have a chance.

“Please be careful, Athena! When you need help, just call my name, and I'll be there right away!”

I could still hear his voice when I was walking out of the bar. I was tempted to nod my head, but I controlled myself. Asking for his help isn't my forte. I will never ask for his help. That's impossible to happen.

I still kept on walking until I was far from the bar. I am not quite sure if Arius left, but I know him. He's just around. He won't leave without me, and that's his work even before. That demon vampire king kept disturbing me all the time when I was with my mission.

All the customers inside the bar rushed to leave because of the vampire. The way became crowded because even those who are not inside the bar already knew about the vampire. They are rushing to go back in their houses which is better, so vampires couldn't victimize them anymore.

“Let's go home.”

I stopped walking when I heard Arius whisper in my ear. I closed my eyes to calm myself before I faced him.

“Could you please leave me alone, Arius? You don't want to lose me, right?”

I inquired, and he nodded his head, which made me bite my bottom lips.

“Then let me work alone here. Don't disturb me from what I was doing, Arius. Nothing will happen to me here if that's what you're worried about…” I uttered and which made him sigh.

“Just promise me you'll be safe, Athena?”

I was dumbfounded from what he queried to me.
