Chapter 29
Athena's Point of View
My mouth opened wide after I heard the last words that Arius mentioned to me. I couldn't still digest it, and my mind was still hanging.
“Kidding aside.”
Disappointment is what I felt when Arius uttered those words. I was aback from my deep thoughts and tried to make myself better.
“Let's go home, Arius. I need to cure my wound.”
Arius nodded his head, responding to me. He carried me in a bridal style and we went back to his house. We arrived in just minutes because he used his vampire speed. Arius and I didn't talk. I have so many queries to him, but I choose to keep my mouth shut. I didn't want to ask him and also because I didn't want to hope again.
“Arius!”
Clary met us the moment that we entered the house. I let out a sigh when Arius put me down. I stared at Clary's eyes and found her eyes looking sad.
I couldn't stop myself from feeling guilty while thinking that maybe I am the reason for her sadness. I know it's because she saw Arius carry me.
“Athena is wounded, and I should cure her wounds, Clary.”
I was shocked by what Arius did. He grabbed my wrist, so I tried my best to remove his hand, but he didn't allow me.
“No, it's okay, Arius. I can cure myself.” I responded.
“She's right, Arius. However, I can treat her wound here.”
I was about to turn my head in the other direction when Arius spoke abruptly.
“You can't treat her, Clary. She's a human and her blood is scattered around her body.”
I could feel my heart skip for the meantime when I realized what Arius had mentioned to her. Clary on the other hand just nodded her head while responding to me.
“I will see you later, Arius and Athena… You had to rest after your treatment.”
I nodded my head in response to what Clary had told me. This woman never ceases to amaze me. She's really kind-hearted and it's rare for a vampire to have such a personality.
Arius started pulling my hand to where my room was. I didn't utter anything and just allowed him to bring me inside. He motioned me to sit down on the couch, which I followed. Arius takes a medicine kit from one of the cabinets here. He started to clean my face with a clean towel before he put my wound with medicine.
While he's busy treating me, I couldn't stop myself from looking at him, deep into his eyes. I just can't imagine that Arius would do this to me. He saved me once again. He protected me from those who tried to harm me, and I wouldn't expect that a vampire like him would do that for me.
“Why are you kidnapped by those hunters, Athena?”
Arius began to interrogate me about what happened earlier, and he deserved to know the story.
“Xyra is an evil hunter, Arius. She's mad to all of us because our head tried to dispose of her after being caught by her sins. She was doing her revenge. Xyra's allies never let go of me when they found me in the woods earlier.”
Arius was listening to what I was saying. However, I could notice that he's staring me deep into my eyes, which made me feel so uncomfortable.
“Why did you leave the house, Athena?”
I bite my upper lips from Arius' inquiry. I don't know what would be my response to him. He's making me feel so uncomfortable.
“To… To check the woods.”
I know my response isn't true, but I had to lie. I won't tell him that the reason why I decided to leave the house earlier is because of him and Clary.
“You're lying.”
A deep breath escaped from my throat after he mentioned those words.
“I have no time to convince you, Arius. Believe what you think is right.”
I know I sounded rude, but I just don't want to tell him about the truth. I should be extra careful with the words that I am about to say.
“You are not jealous, aren't you?”
My jaw almost dropped to the ground upon what I heard from Arius. However, I do my best to keep my expression still. I don't want him to know that I was affected by the words that he told me.
“Why would I be jealous of both of you? I don't feel anything about you, Arius. You are not my boyfriend. I am just a visitor here, so there's nothing to get jealous of.”
I lied once again. Arius' face expression darkened because of the words that I let out.
“Yes, you are right, Athena. We are not in a relationship, so why would you be jealous of us? I just want you to know that Clary is my girlfriend now. I have more time to spend with her, so when you have a mission, I wouldn't be there with you.”
I bite my bottom lips from what Arius had told me. I don't know why it impacted me. It seems like I want to disagree with what he uttered.
“You shouldn't tell me that, Arius. Of course, you should spend more time with Clary because she's your girlfriend and I am just your friend. Don't worry because I understand the subject.”
“Great. I just want to make things clear to you, Athena, because I didn't want you to hope.”
My jaw almost dropped to the ground because of that. Arius was making me stunned every time that he mentioned words that were shocking.
“There's nothing you should clear, Arius because as I mentioned… We don't have a relationship at all.”
Arius just arched his brows upon hearing the words which came from me. I courageously met his eyes and tried not to look back, but then Arius smirked out of the blue, which I didn't expect.
I turned my head away in embarrassment.
“I know you're jealous, Athena. Just admit it to me.” He uttered, and because I was so annoyed by him, I couldn't control myself anymore.
“Okay, fine! I'm jealous. Happy?”
