Chapter 9

Athena's Point of View

I was massaging my neck that the vampire strangled earlier. It seems like I could still feel his strong grip on my neck.

“What the hell are you doing to Athena!?”

Arius inquired of his ally. I couldn't stop myself from smirking. It seems like I was enjoying myself to see that Arius and his men were fighting because of me. Now I realized that my stay here will never be wasted. I still can do something to cause chaos here. This idea would be added to my plans against all of them.

My plan to clash them with each other was significant. When vampires were attacking each other it can be a way to make them weaker.

“She's trying to challenge me, Arius! I can't prevent myself from hurting her!”

The vampire screamed and Arius was still not letting him go. He was still grasping the man's collar while he pinned him against the hall. Although the vampire didn't fight Arius. But Arius didn't want to let him leave.

“You shouldn't choke her, Edward! She's my guess!”

Arius exclaimed, and has no plan of letting him leave. It seems like guilt had eaten my inner self, so I shook my head. I should not feel any guilt towards them. I should never feel anything for my enemies, whatever would happen.

“You're defending her over me, Arius? I am your friend and I was with you the whole time!”

The man named Edward couldn't stop himself from raising a tone toward Arius. I was a bit shocked hearing that this vampire was Arius' friend and who would expect that a demon vampire king had a friend?

That's insane.

Why would someone dare to make friends with a demon vampire king?

“Yes because she's not doing anything, Edward. Look, she's powerless and you shouldn't hurt her.”

Airus began to calm down. He even let go of his friend after he mentioned those words. On the other hand, I just stay in my direction and listen to what they are going to talk about.

“Then, I am so sorry. Maybe I was driven by my anger. It's not my intention to hurt her.”

My mouth fell open when I heard a vampire asking for an apology. I couldn't believe it. It seems surreal to me.

“You shouldn't get mad with her because she's not an enemy. Yes, she was a hunter, but you know our rules. We won't hurt a hunter unless they break our rules. I was watching Athena for many days. She only killed a vampire who tried to victimize an innocent mundane person.”

I stared at Arius when he uttered those words toward his friend, Edward. I can't believe that a vampire king would have such rules for his kind.

However, I realized something. What if they are telling this to fool me? I shouldn't believe in that unless I had proven it by myself. All I needed to do now was to pretend to be an ally. However, I have to do something to tell the camp that I was working as a spy to the vampires. Arius was the only way for me to know all the places that vampires were hiding.

“I know, Arius, and I am so sorry… It's my fault,” Edward mumbled.

“You shouldn't ask for an apology from me, Edward. It should be toward Athena because you tried to kill her earlier,”

I was aback from my deep thoughts when I heard what Arius told his friend. Edward turned his gaze in my direction, so I also stared at him. I could even feel the fast rate of my heartbeat knowing that a vampire would be about to ask for an apology toward me.

“I am so sorry, Athena…”

It took me about a minute before I could reply to him. He looked at me deep into my eyes, so I tried my best to pretend that I was sincere about what I should do.

“Forgiveness is accepted.” I replied.

“So, I was hoping that this would never happen again, Edward. There's nothing you should be worried about. I have trust in Athena. She will never tell her allies about us and also our hideout. You shouldn't do that, don't you?”

I nodded my head from what Arius had inquired. I don't even understand myself either. I can't believe that I would be able to agree with Arius.

“I needed to go, Arius. I still have so many things to do and also the warlock… I will talk to him, don't worry."

Edward uttered towards Arius and he just nodded his head while responding to him. Arius took my left hand and my eyes stared at it. I couldn't believe that he would do that. The strands of my hair stood on both ends when his skin parted to mine.

He's as cold as ice, and I know why. He's a vampire. They are cold, pale, and lifeless. But despite that, it cannot be denied that vampires do have an attractive face, just like Arius.

He's the most handsome man that I have ever seen in my entire life. However, it's sad because he's my enemy. We can't be together. I shouldn't get attached to him because it's wrong. But whatever I do, I still can't prevent myself from getting attracted to him.

“I've been looking for you, Arius? Where have you been?” I inquired and he just chuckled.

“I came from the woods and just arrived. The sun already rises and you already know that we can't appear during daylight, so I was about to go to sleep.”

He uttered, so I narrowed my eyes through the place. I was looking for any coffin that vampires would use as their bed, but there's nothing here.

“Where's your coffin?”

Arius chuckled from what I asked him.

“We are not sleeping in the coffin, Athena, the way you think right now. We're sleeping in bed just like other normal people.”

I blushed because of his response. I never thought myself to be stupid. I'm embarrassing myself in front of my enemy.

“Since you're about to sleep later, what should I do then?”

I inquired about Arius, but then I was stunned with his reply the next moment.
