Chapter 20.

"How is she still alive?"

Imelda said as she disinfected the bite with a cotton wool and spirit. It had been hard for both of them to even find a first aid box in the Castle because Aidas rarely had use for it. And the old thing didn't have anything more than band aids, gauze and spirit.

"Why isn't she waking up though?"

He asked impatiently and Imelda shrugged, putting some gauze and bandage on Lacey's wound. It was deep and so dangerously close to a major vein, a normal human being would have bled out from such a bite. Imelda was worried she might not make it through the night.

But no, not Lacey.

"Do you want me to call a witch."

Imelda asked for the second time. And Aidas sighed. He hated witches. He didn't like anyone interfering with his business. But at the moment they were of more use to him than not.

"Yes. A discreet one please."

Be said and Imelda nodded.

"Give me a second."

She said as she brought out her phone from her Capri pants and walked out of his room.

Aidas sighed as he watched Lacey sleeping peacefully. Even though her breathing was normal, her face was pale and her body felt cold to the touch.

She had been out for almost twenty minutes and all of Imelda's effort to wake her had been futile.

On the other hand, he was more mad at Azure. He was sure she was still somewhere in the castle, waiting for when he would come out and she would pretend to be sorry.

He had not expected the attack, the way she threw him off Lacey and went straight after her throat. She wanted to kill her.

Before he could grab her she he already managed to bite Lacey's neck. and Aidas had tossed Azure away and tried to help reduce the bleeding.

He took one last look at Lacey and walked out of the room. Azure owed him more than an apology. In fact, he would have her head for the shitty stunt she pulled.

As expected, she was still around, lounging in his chair in his study.

Azure was dressed in her signature black leather jumpsuit. Aidas found it distasteful that she wore leather more than often but she seemed to find it edgy so he didn't care.

Not that he cared much about her anyways. She was just that one lover that refused to go away. The one that they were always getting back together, even though they had no reason to. It was a toxic cycle.

"You know... I should rip out your throat for what you did."

He growled and fear flashed in her pale blue eyes before she masked it with a smile.

"You'd create a lifetime feud with me because of a stripper?"

Azure scoffed and Aidas shook his head.

"We had a deal Azure. You don't mess with my business and I don't mess with yours. Lacey is under my protection. You shouldn't have touched her."

"Touch her? She's nothing but human garbage. What's so important about her?"

"I thought you didn't do humans?!! But turns out you're ready to go after whoever the fuck you want."

Aidas raised his eyebrow as she chuckled.

"Yea, let's pretend you haven't slept with half of the entire Night Court too."

He chuckled.

"That's different!"

Azure screamed.

"Different how?!! Because they're vampires? Azure don't be ridiculous. Even if we were in a proper relationship, you have no right to attack her like that!"

"Oh shut up! For the past few weeks you haven't been able to talk about anyone else but her! Always worrying about where the hell she was or what the hell she was doing! Who the fuck cares?"

"Well, you apparently since you attempted to kill her."

Azure rolled his eyes.

"Well... She's not dead is she? She's still alive. I knew she wasn't going to die."

"Please... Don't even come up with that. You were so close to her jugular vein, she could have bled out before we got her to the hospital or something."

"But she didn't! Did she?"

She questioned with her hands on her waist clearly enjoying Aidas's anger and frustration. Aidas narrowed his eyes at her, he felt like ripping her throat out sigh his teeth.

That was how angry he was. He closed his eyes and clenched his jaw so hard he could feel the coppery tang of blood in his mouth when his fangs pierced his gums.

He had to restrain himself. Azure rarely did anything without motive. And she didn't attack Lacey out of jealousy. No, he knew it was something more.

She was stupid to assume that he'd fall for her antics and blame it on jealously.

Something fishy was going on. Either she wasn't expecting Lacey to survive or she wanted to know if she did. Why? He had no idea. Yet.

"Alright. What do you know?"

He asked as he folded his arms. He had to try his best to reason with her.

Azure sighed.

"I know she's an halfbreed. Half human... Half..."

"Half what?"

Aidas spat out impatiently.

Azure grinned as she raised her eyebrows, she enjoyed making Aidas angry. It was sexy to her.

"I thought you'd have guessed it already..."

Aidas scoffed.

"Over a hundred types of Supernaturals and you expect me to know?"

He asked and she shrugged.

"Fair enough. You would have eventually guessed right though."

"Lacey's half fae."

Aidas sighed.

That explains a lot... He wondered as he looked at Azure. Lacey's magical powers had saved her. But if they did, that meant she had unlocked that part of her.

Her fae side.

"Not just any fae."

Azure added and Aidas glared at her.

"What do you mean?"

"Oh Aidas..."

She moaned in a soft sultry voice that puzzled Aidas.

"When her warm blood touched my lips... I felt a feeling like never before."

"So? I've never had fae blood, it probably tastes like that."

Aidas commented as he stood up, he was stupid to believe something sensible would come out of her mouth.

He turned and started walking away and Azure followed frantically behind me.

"I swear it was like being on cloud nine. I'm not lying about this! Her blood..."

"Just drop it okay!!! If you haven't realized it yet I have to go in there and explain to her what happened. I have to tell her everything!"

Aidas said as she started shaking. He was very nervous. He rarely had to reveal his secrets to any humans. He always had little or no problem dealing with them because he never got close enough to them for them to notice anything about him.

"About us! About who we are and what we do! Are you happy about that?"

He asked as he raised his eyebrows and Azure gave him a small sly smile.

"Oh! Don't tell me you're worried about what she would think of you. Are you?"

She asked as she approached him slowly and Aidas looked away.

Azure leaned towards him with her mouth next to his ear.

"Are you afraid she'll stop liking you? When she finally sees you for what you truly are?"

Her hot sultry voice tickled his ear but he remained still.

He clenched his fists hard, he really didn't not want to do anything irrational. But Azure was pressing all his buttons.

"The Infamous Aidas Vladimir of the Night Court. Ruthless business man and the devil vampire himself who drinks blood with the skull of his enemies."

"Tell me... Will you show her the basement? Will you tell her about your dark powers?"

"That's enough!"

Aidas bellowed and Azure stepped back. She walked past her shoving her out of the way.

Leaving her in the hallway alone.

Lacey woke up suddenly. With a small gasp escaping from her lips. Her every thought was in high definition. Her eyes took in every ray of light and without a doubt she knew she had slept too long.

She could remember everything. And she knew exactly why she was in Aidas's bedroom. But she couldn't understand it.

She placed a hand to her neck and it felt like someone had covered it up with gauze and bandage. She ripped both of them off. She touched her skin and found smooth flesh. No evidence of the previous attack.

None at all. She mused.

She pushed away the silk covers and slid down out of the gigantic bed that was largely empty. She looked around and found no sign of Aidas or anyone else.

But her shoes were next to the door and she quickly put them on.

Her purse was on the far end chair. Everything was intact, even her phone. She had a couple of missed calls from Hunt and a distant friend. She ignored all of them.

She had to leave, she wondered as she looked at the door. She didn't know why but she wanted to leave almost as if her natural instincts were repelling the place.

She walked towards the door and placed her hand on the doorknob, twisting it gently. The door opened. It wasn't unlocked.

Meaning she wasn't expected to be awake already .

But standing right in front of her as she prepared to leave was Aidas Vladimir.

He looked so shock to see her that Lacey could only guess that with whatever happened, she should still be unconscious on the bed.

Or worse, dead.

Candy.
