Chapter 48.

"Is he here?"

Hunt stood in front of Ecstasy with his hands in his pocket, Imelda was glaring at him.

She looked pissed that he was right in front of the club. Aidas wasn't going to be too happy about it.

"You shouldn't be here."

She said as she shook her head.

"I need to talk to him. Tell him it's important."

"I'm really not sure he's going to want to see you."

"Tell him first."

Hunt insisted as he looked around wearily. Imelda sighed.

"Okay."

Imelda answered and she walked back into the club.

He wasn't allowed to enter the club. He didn't know why but the bodyguards outside already knew who he was and they prevented him from entering.

He didn't want to force himself in. He also didn't want to cause a scene. That would have been problematic for both of them. So he called Imelda. She came outside to see him ten minutes after his call, almost as if she didn't want to come but decided to anyways.

Lacey had been gone for a whole day. Sleeping without her had been weird. They always slept together in the same bed, he missed her smell, her skin and how vibrant she was in the mornings.

He missed everything about her.

When she first left he was angry, he had every right to be. She admitted to having feelings for Aidas, that wasn't easy for him either. He didn't want to share her with anyone, much less Aidas Vladimir.

But it was her heart. It was what she had chosen. He had found out that he couldn't even let her go because of that.

He needed her.

Imelda walked out of the club after a while. She didn't look too happy.

"What did he say?"

She sighed.

"He said no matter how important it is, it's not enough to ruin his pleasant night with the sight of your face."

Hunt rolled his eyes.

"I have to go in Imelda."

She shrugged. There was no convincing Aidas when his mind was made up.

"You know I can't do anything about that."

Hunt sighed. He looked around angrily. If he caused a scene, it would just make things between them much more worse and that wasn't what he was planning to do.

"But, I can tell you where he will be after this."

She said and he looked at her hopefully.

"Where?"

"He's working on a lead on Azure. So he'll be at a Southside apartment in the next hour. If you go now, you'll meet him there ahead of time "

"Thank you."

Hunt said as he started walking away.

"I'll forward the address to you."
Hunt nodded in appreciation and started to walk away.

"Hunt!"

Imelda called out and he paused.

"He's going to know I told you this. So whatever you want to talk to him about better be worth it."

"It will."

He replied as he started walking towards his car.

He had to get to the apartment before Aidas. Southside was on the opposite side of the city, and Aidas could easily super speed to the location if he wanted to save time.

He could be there earlier than him.

Much earlier.

Hunt's footsteps echoed throughout the empty halls of the large South side apartment. The place looked like a dump. Flickering lights left on to illuminate the pathway just enough to see by. Water dripped somewhere, creating a hollow pinking noise that was impossible to ignore. He kept walking, not getting anywhere. The walls shifted and creaked and the looming emptiness of the building was unavoidable.

The place was empty.

"This better be good."

Aidas Vladimir said as he walked into the apartment.

Hunt smirked. He wasn't so alone after all.

"I was beginning to think you wouldn't make it."

He said and Aidas stared at him cautiously.

"And I guess Imelda must have told you where I was..."

He trailed off. Hunt shrugged.

"She was kind enough to help."

Aidas narrowed his eyes, he would deal with Imelda later.

"Let's hope that doesn't get her into any trouble."

"Now, get on with what you have to say, I have a mouse to catch soon."

He looked at his watch and groaned. By his time and the Map, Azure was going to reach the building in a little less than an hour.

Perfect. He thought as he turned back to glare at Hunt.

"So? What do you want? You got the girl. You might get to be Mayor. What do you want from me?"

"Lacey left yesterday."

He said and Aidas's eyes seemed to lighten with interest.

"Oh! I guess she got bored of you."

"No. That's not it."

"She told me she has feelings for you. And she needs some time to figure out what she wants."

"Where did she go?"

Hunt shrugged.

"Her Dad's place."

There was a short pause between the two of them and Aidas gave Hunt a glare.

"Well!"

He exclaimed.

"Is that all?"

He asked impatiently. Hunt remained calm.

"No. No it's not."

"Then get on with it. I really don't have the time or patience for your antics."

Aidas said as he rolled his eyes. Pretending not to be extremely interested in what he was going to say.

"I know we've been fighting for years..."

"Yes. Why wouldn't we? You killed my brother didn't you?"

"Or you need me to juggle your memory a little bit with a blow to the head?"

"Do you want to hear what I have to say or not?"

"Okay. I'm listening."

"I didn't kill Lucien."

Aidas rolled his eyes.

"I told you I don't have time for jokes."

He said in a grave serious voice but Aidas wasn't intimated.

"It was my brother Ruhn, I decided to take the blame for it. It was his first shift, he really couldn't control his rage and bloodlust when he saw Lila with Lucien."

"So, when he saw Lila in the bush with Lucien, his bloodlust kicked in..."

"Ugh!"

Aidas said as he rolled his eyes.

"I can't believe you'd stoop so low to concoct such lies!"

"They're not! I'm only saying the truth!! And if you think well enough on it you'd know it is."

Aidas was silent for a while. The news had come as a big blow to him. He wasn't expecting it. Also, he didn't know if he could trust Hunt..

Yes, the two of them had gone their separate ways but the pain he still carried was still fresh in his memories.

"I don't believe you."

"Don't be difficult Aidas, I know you can hear my heartbeat. You can tell if I lie."

Aidas shrugged.

"Why now? Why tell me this years after when all that's over now."

"Over now?"

"It's not over if we're still on each others throats every now and then."

"Look, I don't even care if you're still mad at me for what you think I've done, but I just needed to get this off my chest."

"I mean... Now you know what really happened. I know you understand my reason for doing so. "

The two of them were quiet for a long time. Aidas going through every detail of what happened that night in his mind and Hunt waiting for him to say something.

Aidas sighed.

"Hunt... Why did you take the blame?"

"Ruhn is my brother. I had to protect him."

"If I had told you Ruhn did it, wouldn't you have killed him already?"

Aidas groaned.

"Then why are you even telling me this now knowing I can go after him right now and kill him?!!"

Hunt Adler sighed.

He hoped that for their sakes Aidas wouldn't try to go after Ruhn.

"Aidas, right now fighting with you is the last thing on my mind. Lacey needs us now more then ever."

"Were you ever going to tell me the truth?"

"Or you're only telling me because of Lacey."

Hunt shifted uncomfortably. Of course it was because of her. But it was also because he was tired of the way things were between he and Aidas.

They were once closeriends. They worked perfectly well together too. Everything had been going great till Lucien died.

Aidas was enraged when Lucien died. There was a dark point in his life when he had looked up to Lucien. He had thought of Lucien has his hero. And he was taken from him by someone whom he considered a friend.

He had even been more betrayed finding out it was the one person he had chosen to get close to was the one who did it.

He almost killed Hunt Adler for it

But it was impossible. Hunt was an Alpha.

And not just any Alpha. A lycan.

Killing him would mean war. Not to imagine the outcry from the Council after it.

So he didn't do anything.

He stood by and watched as his hate for Hunt Adler grew day by day, especially when it seemed like Hunt had forgotten what had transpired between them and moved on with his life like nothing happened.

"Whatever you're telling me now, trust me, it doesn't mean anything."

Aidas said as he chuckled and Hunt frowned.

"You're still my enemy. And if I had the chance to squeeze the life out of your chest I will Hunt Adler."

He said and Hunt raised his eyebrow.

"For some reason I don't think you mean that."

"Oh! Would you like a little demonstration? I would just love to rearrange your face with my fists."

Hunt growled.

Suddenly his super sharp ears picked up footsteps very close to the apartment and Hunt made a gesture for Aidas to stay still.

The two of them froze as the footsteps grew closer.

Aidas could bet it was Azure.

He smirked as he nodded his head.

He didn't plan on sparing her after what she did to Lacey.

Oh no he didn't.

And God help whoever decided to stand in his way of his sweet revenge.
