Chapter 63.

She rushed to his side first.

He was still in his wolf form. And no, he was not breathing.

Ianthe's power had hit him hard. There was blood all over him.

He had taken the hit for Aidas, a very dangerous move, considering Ianthe's magic was unadulterated raw dark magic.

She didn't even know what to do, the blood was everywhere. It felt like his whole insides had been shattered from within.

The thought alone made Lacey shaky.

"Do something!!!"

She mumbled at Aidas who was motionless next to her.

He was still in shock. They had a plan, they had everything under control, how did it all go horribly wrong?

Lacey was so weak she couldn't use her powers to heal him. That was even if she knew what her powers were for in the first place. She wasn't sure she had the ability to heal others.

"Please... Please..."

She whispered as she held him close to her. He was still warm. He couldn't be dead.

His blood was soaking the front of her shirt but she didn't care.

She didn't mind at all.

She thought as she started shrieking.

He couldn't be dead.

"Lacey. Lacey please..."

Aidas begged her as he tried to pull her away.

She didn't listen to him.

She yanked her arm away from him in annoyance.

It all happened suddenly.

So swiftly.

She couldn't...

She didn't even have the chance to say goodbye.

How could he just leave like that.

She was still on her knees, sobbing and begging him to come back to her.

She was so focused on him that she didn't notice her mother was approaching them. She had come through a portal.

And the first body she went towards was the one of her sister.

To confirm Ianthe was really dead.

Lacey's ice had torn through every part of Ianthe's body.

Her body was left in shreds...

Shreds.

She looked at her hand and noticed the ink on it was gone.

Her sister was truly gone.

She turned and saw her daughter crying next to the body of the Alpha.

He wasn't dead.

Not yet, but he was slipping fast.

But she could slow it down enough for a goodbye.

To give Lacey some closure, something she wished she had done for Lila.

She hurried towards them and gently pushed Lacey aside.

"Let me."

She said as she laid her hands on him and started speaking in the language of the Old Fae.

Lacey, teary eyed and tired hung on Hunt's body hoping her mother would perform a miracle and bring him back.

Something did happen.

A bright light covered Hunt and he shifted back to human.

Lacey's heart leapt for joy.

He was fine right?

His mother healed him, she had thought.

She thought wrong.

He was even worse in his human form.

Lacey thought as she sobbed even harder.

His whole chest was covered in blood and his face was so pale. His lips were a pale blue.

"Lacey..."

He croaked out and she rushed to his side.

"Please. Stay. Don't go."

He smiled a bit and then his eyes slowly turned to Hunt.

"Take care of her."

The words were grave and morbid. Hunt was slipping away fast.

"No! No! Don't you dare leave!"

She screamed, ignoring the throbbing pain in her head, the pain seemed to be spreading fast all over her body.

"I love you."

He whispered silently, he was taking his last few breaths. She could see it.

She could feel it.

He was slipping away from her.

His eyes looked behind her and he smiled a little.

Lacey turned back, her eyes blurry with tears.

Wondering what he was looking at.

"Lila..."

He called softly.

That was all he said.

His hands turned cold in her hands.

He was dead.

They heard the howls first. The howls of the rest of his pack.

So they were around?

A small part of Lacey thought.

Lacey went rigid.

There was screaming in her head.

But she didn't know why.

She vaguely remembered her mother putting her arms around her, pushing her away from the body.

"She is weak. She needs time to recover. She will be safe with me."

She heard her mother saying to Aidas.

She was going to talk.

Going to say something but she was too weak to even move her mouth.

The shock alone had made her freeze.

"Sleep. My child."

Her mother whispered into her ear.

She succumbed to the darkness.

*Three days Later.*

Her room was light and airy. It smelled of cool breeze and freshly picked lilies. The servants worked quickly. Pressing Lacey's body with the warm cloth all over.

It was the third day the halfbreed princess had been left in the House of Wind. Catered to by servants.

Yet she had still not woken up.

When her mother, the Queen.

Queen Yvaine had portaled into the house with her passed out in her arms. They had got to healing her as quickly as they could.

Which had proven harder than they had thought.

Not just because she was half fae, but also because she was pregnant.

They had to be extra careful not to hurt her.

It was still early.

Even way too early for she to have even noticed.

But still they carried on, carefully healing her.

Her energy sources were thoroughly depleted, after destroying Ianthe, it was expected.

Afterall, her mother the Queen had not fully recovered from her fight with Hades Vigilanco years ago.

The Queen popped in once in a while to check her progress. The fatigue and worry eating at her slowly.

Day and night she was at Court arguing with the Fae elders about keeping her daughter in her kingdom.

The fae elders were shocked at Lacey's presence and her existence. The Queen had never taken an husband. They had argued that she could not be a part of her world, no matter who her mother was.

Queen Yvaine wasn't too surprised, halfbreeds had always been treated that way.

Sometimes they were killed at birth, many were outcasts, forbidden to step into the Fae Kingdom.

Even the chosen heir to the Fae throne, Lyanthe was threatened by her mere presence.

And for that alone he had been denied access to see her even though his intentions might have been good. For fear of her safety he was kept away.

Her eyelids fluttered slowly.

"Go, inform the Queen. Tell her that her daughter is awake."

One of the servants said gently and another one hurried away.

Lacey had never felt so weak before in her entire life.

Her whole body felt like stone. Way too hard for her to lift.

Where was she?

She thought as she looked around. The room was unfamiliar and the fair headed lady in pale blue robes and pointed ears like her didn't provide her with any information.

Lacey tried to open her mouth, but she briefly closed it again. The act alone took way more effort than it should have.

Her mother waltzed into the room, looking like something out of a dream. She had a red robe on and it moved around her like water. The robe was exquisite, but the crown on her head was even more spectacular.

It was a crown fit for a queen. And her mother wore it perfectly well.

"Lacey."

She said softly as she sat next to her daughter.

"Where am I?"

Lacey asked as she looked around.

Her mother smiled.

"Welcome to Alfea. The land of the faes."

Lacey gasped softly.

Of course her mother had told her about the secret home of the faes. But she never expected that she would visit it.

Not only because she didn't even know where it was.

But because she was a halfbreed. And didn't think it was even possible.

"Why am I here?"

She asked the question on her mind and her mother smiled sadly.

"After you attacked Ianthe. You became incredibly weak. You used so much of your magic. And… I was scared you were going to die."

"I had to find a way to heal you before the exhaustion took over and killed you."

"So I brought you with me."

Lacey sighed.

Closing her eyes, she remembered the lifeless body of Ianthe. She remembered it quite vividly.

And then it fully hit her again.

Hunt.

Hunt had died.

He was gone.

"He's gone isn't he?"

She asked her mother who nodded her head.

"I'm sorry…"

She whispered and Lacey shook her head.

Tears blurred her vision.

"I can't believe he's gone."

Her mother squeezed her hands.

"You know he did what he had to do. He knew the risks and he faced them head on. He faced them bravely."

"Like an Alpha would"

Her mother added and Lacey shook her head.

"He didn't deserve to die… I don't know what to do without him."

Her mother sighed.

"Trust me sweetheart. There's plenty to do."

She said as she looked at Lacey's midsection. Lacey followed her mother's eyes but still didn't know what she was referring to.

"I suppose the babes in your womb belong to him? As far as I know vampires cannot conceive."

She said and Lacey's eyes widened in realisation.

She tried to sit up and a bolt of pain shot through her body.

So painful that she yelled out loud.

The servants came back to her side to settle her back in her bed.

"How? What are you talking about?"

She knew Aidas couldn't have children. He was a vampire, it was expected.

But her?

Pregnant?

It was impossible.

It should be impossible.

And it was too soon.

Too soon to tell.

But the look in her mother's eyes told her everything.

She was serious.

About everything.
