Chapter 49.

"You're telling me your own blood sister killed Lila and you did nothing about it?"

Lacey exclaimed and her mother hesitated. She couldn't understand it, that was how confusing it was for her.

Why would her mother's own sister kill her child?

And why did it seem like she got away with it.

"Believe me, it's not like that...."

"Then explain to me what explain to me what it means because you're not making too much sense right now!"

She snapped. Slowly the room became too bot for for her.

She was simmering with rage.

"Calm down Lacey!!!"

Yvaine, her mother said politely

"You see, when Lila came to me. She was so curious. She was worried about what was happening to her. She was also so happy she found me."

"Anddd?"

"Well... She was going through her settling too. And I admit, while I was taking her powers I took too much than I should have. "

"Too much? What the hell are you talking about?"

Lacey demanded and Yvaine looked away. She was too embarrassed to even tell Lacey.

And the pain she felt in her heart was still a constant reminder to her of what she did.

Sooner or later Lacey would to know the truth. And it was better to have her on her side rather than have her against her.

"Well... Like I said earlier, I have lost most of my powers. I still manage to replenish them as quickly as I can. When Lila was going through her settling, I couldn't stop myself. I took too much."

Lacey's eyes 2widened.

"And what happened to her?"

"She became pale, weak. I asked her to stay right in this mansion and reassured her that she would be fine in the next few days."

Yvaine sighed and looked away.

Lacey looked around the mansion.

Lila lived here before she died?

"Well... Ianthe and I didn't agree on what she was doing back then.
I was trying too hard to interfere with whatever Ianthe did."

"And she saw Lila as a means to get back at me."

"She was about to summon the demon then. I was trying so hard to stop her."

How could she forget such a horrible day. The power Ianthe wielded was unholy

"You see... Summoning demons is no easy feat. Sometimes you end up invoking the wrong demon. And they all demons have their own agendas, even one contrary to their Masters."

"So Ianthe killed Lila just to stop you?"

Yvaine smiled sadly as she blinked back hot tears. She could still see the lifeless body of Lila when she closed her eyes sometimes.

"She glamoured Lila. Made her believe it was me. She took her to some dirt and empty alley and finished her off with the same demon she summoned."

"I think the worse part for me is that, Lila would always think I killed her. Even after death..."

A tear dropped from Yvaine's face and Lacey's heart sank.

Glamour?

"Glamour?"

She asked and her mother nodded.

"We Faes use it on humans and other Supernaturals alike to create illusions.  We make people see what they want to see, a dead relative, a living lover, a painful memory. It's a quite advanced technique. Ianthe is very good at it."

Lacey collapsed on the nearest chair. She was still very much in shock.

"I can't believe you let her get away with killing your own daughter."

Lacey murmured as she glared at Yvaine in anger and Yvaine shook her head.

If looks could kill, Yvaine would be six feet's under.

"You don't understand..."

"Don't understand?!!!! That's your fault! That's on you! Not even Ianthe!!"

"Not Lila because she stupidly and blindly trusted you to protect her because you're her mother!!!"

Lacey screamed in anger and her mother looked around nervously.

She stood up and started pacing around the living room, her large eyes fixated on her mother and her rage dangerously building up in her.

Suddenly, Yvaine started gasping for air.

"Lacey..... Lacey...."

She whispered as she held a hand to her neck gasping.

"You're so greedy! You only care about yourself! If you hadn't taken Lila's powers who knows! She'd still be alive by now!"

"You killed your own daughter!!!"

"Lacey please!!!"

Yvaine cried out as she fell to the floor, she was choking, she couldn't breathe and Lacey was too angry to even realise that she was the one doing it.

"I don't know why I'm even here! I should get the hell out of here before I meet the same fate."

"I can't even believe that I ever for once considered you as my mother! What's wrong with me!"

"She was my sister and I never even knew her!"

"You took that from me."

She whispered as tears started falling from her eyes.

"Lacey please stop!!!"

Yvaine begged with her last breath as she felt her last breath slipping away from her lungs and Lacey turned to her.

She really looked at her.

Her eyes widened in confusion and she took several steps back.

She was the one who was doing it.

She thought as she calmed down a little.

Yvaine sighed as she collapsed on the floor in relief. Her eyes were still wide with fear.

She thought she was going to die.

She had never been more relieved before in her life.

"You didn't even know what you were doing..."

Yvaine stated after catching her breathe.

She stood up slowly, her hand on her chest, breathing heavily.

Lacey was confused.

"What? What was I doing?"

She asked suspiciously.

She knew she had been doing something. She felt it, she only ignored because she thought it was her anger, not something else. She was wrong.

"It was almost as if you were squeezing my neck."

Yvaine touched her neck. It felt raw. It felt bruised.

"With your mind!"

"That's impossible!"

Lacey said quickly and Yvaine shook her head.

"It very much possible. I could feel phantom hands on my neck."

"But how?"

Yvaine shrugged.

"I told you Fae magic manifests in various abilities. It has also been recorded that some Faes have the ability to control objects and people with their mind."

"Your emotions must have triggered it. Because it takes great concentration and practice to be able to use it on another Fae."

Lacey frowned.

"You need me now more than ever Lacey. Your abilities are tied to your emotions. and trust me, gallivanting around with Wolf boy and Dracula won't help you with that."

Lacey opened her mouth to speak but Yvaine cut her off.

"I think about Lila everyday. I know the consequences of my actions and I have to live with it. Just like I had to live with my decision to abandon the both of you at birth."

Yvaine sighed.

"Believe me. It's not an easy burden to bear."

There was stillness on both sides. Aidas and Hunt both waited calmly as Azure approached.

She didn't know they were inside and Aidas could only imagine how shocked she would be when she entered the room.

Hunt on the other hand stood at the exit, he was going to block her path if she attempted escape.

The look on Aidas's face was determination and anger. He looked like he was ready to kill Azure when she finally walked through the door. If hatred was visible the air would have been scarlet.

Then suddenly movement, so much movement.

It all went by in a blur. One second Azure was bursting through the door the next second Aidas had pinned her to the floor with a strong hand tightly wrapped around her neck.

"Hello Azure! Miss me?"

He crooned as she struggled underneath his grasp.

"Aidas!!!"

"Leave me alone..."

Aidas raised an eyebrow.

"Leave you? I think you've done just enough. Right now I can't wait to send you back to hell where you belong."

She started gasping for her air and stuttering, trying very hard to pry off Aidas's hands on her but he wasn't relenting. Instead his grip on her neck grew stronger.

Her face was turning into a sickly pale shade.

"Please..."

She wheezed but Adidas ignored her.

"Stop it Aidas.... At least hear her out."

Hunt said and Aidas rolled his yes.

"I don't want to listen to anything she wants to say... I don't care."

"She can still be very useful to us. She worked for Yvaine, Lacey's mother"

Aidas paused for a while as he considered it, releasing grip on Azure.

"You have one minute."

He removed his hand from her neck and Azure crawled away with one hand on her neck spluttering and coughing hard.

She crawled all the way to the wall in the dirty apartment and rested against it with her hands holding her neck.

The pain was going down as fast as it was. But she was more shocked about the act than the pain itself.

Aidas was really going to kill her.

"Azure, do not waste my precious time."

Aidas warned.

And she sat up.

"I'll tell you about Lacey's mother if you promise not to kill me."

Aidas rolled his eyes. He didn't care what information she had to trade, for what she had put Lacey through, he was going to kill her.

She was the one who had started everything.

If she had not bitten Lacey, Lacey's powers wouldn't have been triggered so soon, her psychotic mother wouldn't have even tried to steal her powers either.

"You're nor getting out of this one alive. Don't push it."

He warned and she shook her head.

"Oh I promise you, you'd want to hear it."

"I'll tell you where Lacey and her mother are right now, if you promise to let me go."

Adidas and Hunt looked at each other in confusion.

Hunt shrugged. Lacey was with her Dad's, that was what she had told him.

She said she was staying over at his place.

Aidas calmed himself.

"And how do you know this?"

"Because I saw them together and I know where they're going."

"Let me be really honest with you, I think they might be in some kind of danger."
