Chapter 32.

Mother? Lacey thought as she shuddered. It was impossible. She had never met her mother, or seen a picture of her before. Her father seemed to have burned every memory of her existence the moment she had left. So, who the hell was the woman in front of her?

And how the hell could she be her mother?

Her features were strikingly beautiful. She had familiar blue eyes, that stuck out of her face like ice glaciers. Lila had blue eyes, that much she could remember.

Her dark brown hair which seemed to be one of the only similarities they shared was cut closely to her chin bluntly, giving her sharp thin face a bold look. She had high cheekbones and full lips painted crimson. Her complexion was pale and smooth, similar to a porcelain doll's.

But that wasn't the only peculiar thing about her. Her ears, they were slender and delicate, pointed at the tips. It strangely reminded her of the faeries she used to read about in books.

If this woman was her mother... If she was a Supernatural just like Aidas, did that mean Lacey was one too?

No, it wasn't possible, she was normal. Lacey told herself as she quickly dismissed the thought.

She scrambled and got on her feet, ignoring the blinding pain in her head and the numbness in her body.

"That's not possible. My mother... She's gone."

She murmured and her mother raised her eyebrows.

"Is that what Charlie told you?"

She asked in a soothing but edgy voice. Her voice felt strangely familiar too, like something she had heard in her dreams. She felt like she remembered her from somewhere, but she didn't know where.

Charlie. She knew her father's name.

"Well... I wouldn't expect less from him. He has always been a little sketchy. "

"Why am I here?"

She asked glancing at Azure who was resting on the wall with her arms folded. She had an amused expression on her deathly pale face. Lacey was nervous with her around.

She still couldn't get what happened that night with her out of her mind and seeing Azure only made the feeling worse.

"Don't bother about that for now."

Her mother said as she started walking around Lacey, circling a frightened Lacey like a predator circled it's prey. She took in every detail of her daughter slowly, deliberately.

Petite, just like her mother, but with visible curves. Her hair was full and long, the same colour the same colour like her mother's. Their colouring was similar and their facial structures were the same. Except for their eye colour. That was the only difference. Lacey had inherited the hazel brown eyes of her father.

"Why am I here? What do you want from me? You've made it very clear you never wanted me!"

The woman only raised a single eyebrow.

"Is that what your father told you about me?"

Lacey rolled her eyes.

"Does it matter what he said? He was right anyways."

Her mother scoffed.

"Ugh! Typical. I'm assuming he didn't have any good thing to say about me. Seeing as you're being so cold to me."

"Cold?"

Lacey shook her head. She marveled at nerve of the woman to kidnap her and expect a warm welcome after her long absence in her life.

"What? After twenty four years I'm supposed to welcome you with open arms after abandoning me the day I was born? With no explanation?!"

"I had my reasons."

Her mother murmured nonchalantly. This only made Lacey more angry.

"Your reasons? Whatever they are, I don't want to hear them. Can you please just let me go? I don't want you in my life."

"Your life?"

Her mother snapped.

She turned to Azure and they both chuckled.

"As far as I'm concerned your life is a mess!"

"A stripper?!! Can you believe it?"

She exclaimed and Lacey narrowed her eyes at her mother. She had no right to question her life. What she did and what she didn't do, much less her job.

"I mean. Can you believe my own daughter dances naked for money?"

She asked Azure and Azure chuckled.

"That's none of your business!"

Lacey snapped. She didn't even correct her when she claimed she danced naked. No amount of correction would make her understand what she did or what her job entailed.

"Oh darling! I'm your mother I should think it's my business."

"You lost your mummy privileges when you walked out of that door when I was born."

She retorted and her mother quickly masked her surprise with a mildly amused look.

"Feisty one are you? You're certainly so different from your cool headed sister."

Her sister?

"Lila?"

Lacey asked softly and her mother nodded.

"Yes. Lila. Bless her poor soul, wherever it is suffering right now."

Her mother murmured looking away quickly.

"Did you kill her?"

Lacey asked and her mother raised her eyebrow.

"Do you really think so little of me?"

"Yes. Yes I do."

"Well.. If you must know. I didn't kill Lila. I'm not that bad."

"But you know who did it?"

Candy asked and her mother shrugged.

"That's not the point right now. We have little time so I have to explain what's going on with you to make this easier for you."

"What?"

"What do you mean?"

Her mother sighed.

"Oh gods! Are you really so clueless? One would think hanging out with a vampire and a Lycan would teach you a few things."

Her mother murmured and Azure chuckled.

What the hell was her mother saying?

"By the way, you have really poor taste in men. I suppose that's one thing you managed to get from me."

"What the hell are you talking about?"

She yelled in frustration amidst her growing headache. She felt as if she might collapse from the pain, she thought as she held on to the edge of the bed for support.

"The headaches, the pain everything, it's all for a reason. A big reason."

Her mother answered with a smile as she shrugged off her cloak. Underneath it was a shimmering black dress that clung to her figure gracefully. And a pair of black heels. Was she going out?

Lacey thought as she dropped her cloak on the bed and signalled to Azure.

"And what reason is that?"

"Have you evey wondered why you healed so quickly that night Azure bit you?"

Her mother asked and Lacey shook her head. No, she thought Aidas had something to do with it. She didn't even know it meant anything. She had been so focused on the shock that vampires actually existed to think about it.

"No."

"Well... Hopefully in a few days you'll find out."

She turned to Azure who brought toward a small black wooden box. Her mother opened it gently and produced a syringe and a needle.

Lacey took several steps back.

"What the hell is that for?"

She murmured and her mother smirked.

"To help with the pain. The settling can be an unpleasant process. I know you'll survive, but this will help with the pain."

"What are you saying? I don't want it!"

Lacey said as she tried scrambling away.

"Hold her down."

Her mother signalled to Azure as she went on setting the syringe like nothing happened.

Azure grabbed Lacey's arm and flung her on the bed like she was a ragdoll. She flung her with such force that Lacey hit her head on the wooden headboard and passed out.

Her mother sighed.

"Perhaps you should be a little gentler next time."

Azure quickly bowed. She enjoyed the satisfaction that came from hurting Lacey, but she hid it to herself, to avoid punishment.

"I'm so sorry Your Majesty."

Her apartment. It was empty. He couldn't even catch a whiff of her scent. It meant she had been gone for a while. Her phone was lying on the floor, her rug in an unusual position, like something heavy had been dragged on it.

Her phone also had several missed calls and texts from Hunt and her father.

It wasn't Hunt who kidnapped her then. No one seemed to have been aware about her disappearance. He felt like such an idiot.

If only he had put his pride aside and stayed with her a little longer. If only he had been able to do something.

He didn't know if it was too late, he didn't know anyone who wanted to kidnap her. Whoever had taken her didn't just kidnap her, it was personal.

Perhaps a vendetta. But against who?

He or Hunt?

Imelda and his men walked back from the kitchen, they seemed just as pissed off as he was.

"There's no sign of anything missing or gone. The living room also looked untouched."

"Who could have taken her?"

Aidas growled softly as he massaged his temple. He was trying so hard to keep his anger in check. But he couldn't stop the little voice in his head that kept telling him it was his fault and Lacey could die because of him.

"I have no idea Aidas. There seems to be little or no evidence. Maybe we should wait till daybreak."

"Wait?"

He snapped.

They had no fucking time!

Imelda was silent for a while, searching for the right words to say in her head

"Whoever took her would request an audience with you soon. That is, if it's an enemy of yours."

"And what if she's killed before daybreak?"

Imelda was at a loss for words.

Killed?

"I don't think anyone would go to the trouble of kidnapping her just to kill her later. I think we should wait..."

"Imelda! We don't fucking have time for this! Do you even remember what happened to Lila?"

"Yes, I remember."

"She was kidnapped and her body showed up a few days later. What if the same happens to Lacey?"

Imelda sighed. If the same was going to happen to Lacey they had only one person to blame for it.

"Well... If the same happens to her I'm sure we all know who to blame for it."

Aidas groaned. Of course, they only had one person to blame for it.

Hunt Adler.

Suddenly, there was a large crashing noise and one of Aidas's men had crashed through Lacey's balcony glass and his head hit the concrete hard.

Aidas turned sharply, his fangs were out already and he was wide alert.

Hunt growled angrily as he held another of his men by his neck. His sharp claws was already drawing blood from the man's neck. Squeezing hard till the man began making choking sounds, if Hunt didn't release him in a few seconds, he was going to hit a nerve and the man would bleed out.

"What the fuck are you doing here Aidas?"

He spitted out with anger in his raging voice, his blazing red eyes were fuming with anger.

Same as Aidas's.

Candy.
