Chapter 64

*Five Months Later*

She was standing in front of where it had all begun. In front of Ecstasy.

She had not seen Aidas for so long.

She needed it.

She needed the space.

Healing and recuperating had taken time. And she spent a longer time in Alfea than she chose to. But she liked every bit of it.
It was such a beautiful and serene place. It felt like home. But it wasn't her home, as much as she didn't like to think about it.

The first place she had gone to while coming back from Alfea was Hunt's grave. It wasn't hard to find out where it would be.

There were memorials for him set in strategic places in the city. Aron City had lost one of it's brightest stars.
From what she could gather, his brother Ruhn had taken over Crete Inc. And he was set to be initiated as the new Alpha.

The new City Mayor was not Aidas as it should have been. He had rejected the position. Claiming the only person who deserved it was dead. Crispin and Suna too were dead.

So many other nameless people had also fallen in the hands of Ianthe and her demons.

Lacey didn't like to think about it all.

She wondered if Aidas would be waiting in Ecstasy, like he usually did.

She had not heard from him since she was gone.

Not even a whisper.

But it seemed like for her sake he had kept her father safe. After visiting Hunt's graveyard where she spent a better part of her time there crying and showing him her pregnancy bump. She had stood up and left.

Now standing in front of Ecstasy, her whole body was shaking in anticipation.

She had covered up her bump in the best way she could. The Faes of her mother's kingdom had read her future and told her that she was having twins. A boy and a girl.

The fae had looked at Lacey with dread and shock as she spoke.

"You have two lives fighting within you."

"Strong. Powerful."

She whispered.

"Twins."

Her mother had answered and the Fae diviner nodded her head.

"No ordinary twins. Born of Fae blood and Lycan blood they will face many struggles."

Lacey's hands had instinctively flown to her belly.

"What do you mean?"

The Fae diviner shook her head wearily.

"This is exactly why Faes don't interbreed. What have you created, girl?"

The woman asked as she glared at Lacey.

Lacey was confused.

She looked at her mother whose expression was guarded.

"If you have something to say, say it Maghra."

She warned and the diviner continued.

"One would be as fair as the sun and the other dark as night. One would be good and the other would be bad."

"You won't know which is which."

"What are you talking about?"

Lacey asked and the woman shrugged.

"Only the good can stop the evil."

Lacey shook her head to stop herself from thinking about it. She didn't want to think of what the diviner said. There was nothing wrong with her.

Or her babies.

They were probably trying to scare her.

No child was born evil.

She was let in the club easily, luckily the bodyguards still recognised her.

The club was bubbling as usual. The loud music, the thumping and the dozens of bodies cramped in the same space dancing.

She looked around. There was no sign of Aidas. Or anyone she knew.

She had to get to the VIP section. To take a look.

She walked towards the VIP section and found new faces. Ones that wouldn't let her in.

And no sign of Aidas either.

Suddenly a hand tapped her shoulder.

She turned around and saw Imelda.

Imelda looked relieved to see her.

"I knew it was you."

She said as she looked at Lacey.

"How have you been?"

She asked and Lacey nodded while resisting the urge to put a hand on her belly.

"I've been good. How about you?"

She asked and Imelda nodded.

"He's in his office."

She said as she pointed to the back door.

Lacey's heart skipped a beat as she heard that.

She nodded to Imelda. Murmuring a thanks to the woman as she walked away.

In front of Aidas's office door she raised her hand to knock but held herself.

Fear had gripped her and she watched the door solemnly.

What was she going to say?

How would he react?

She had been gone for so long.

What would she even do?

The questions kept replaying in her head as she looked at the door.

She was still contemplating knocking on his door till she heard a soft click and the door opened gently.

Aidas Vladimir stood in front of her.
She felt as if her breath was seized from her.

His dark black hair was cropped low to his scalp. Too low, Lacey never forgot how silky soft and smooth his hair was.

His beard was overgrown, not as clean shaven like he used to keep it, but he looked good in it regardless. He looked good in anything. And his eyes.

Lacey knew his colour of his eyes signified his moods and emotions. But she had never known the true colour of his eyes, till now.

She watched the soft brown slowly turn a light amber. With his eyes widening as he saw her.

"Lacey…"

He whispered.

Lacey walked into the room and smiled. Her eyes brimming with unshed tears.

"Aidas."

She simply said as she collapsed into his arms. He squeezed her. He squeezed her so tight she had to quickly pull away.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I just didn't expect to see you. I thought you were gone forever."

He whispered as he started smiling.

Aidas apologising to her? That was new.

She thought as she smirked.

"Gone forever? I wouldn't do that to you…"

She said and he sighed.

"I… I didn't know what to think. With Hunt gone…"

Lacey nodded quickly.

It was still a touchy subject for them.

She looked around his office. It looked pretty much the same.

"I heard you didn't want to be the Mayor."

She started as she sat in the nearest chair. He still hadn't noticed that she was pregnant. And she wasn't quite ready to tell him.

Aidas shrugged.

"In all honesty I never wanted to be Mayor. I was just doing it out of spite…"

He said and Lacey nodded.

She understood him well.

He and Hunt once hated each other.

It seemed like a long time ago when she thought about it.

"And how do you feel now? You were so weak when your mother took you. I was so afraid you'd die. But somehow she kept me updated. Told me you were alive."

Lacey nodded.

"Yea. I lost most of my powers. I don't think I'll ever recover from it."

She said as she looked at her hands. She didn't feel any different than she used to before.

She felt like her old self.

It wasn't even as if she had completely mastered the use of her powers before.

She still had the heightened abilities all Faes had coupled with a very long life.

But her powers… She hadn't been able to use it ever since that day.

She placed her hand on her belly, forgetting for a moment where she was.

Aidas's eyes widened.

"Lacey… Are you?"

He asked as he looked at her belly and she smiled gently.

"Yes. I didn't know how I was going to tell you…"

She said and he nodded in understanding.

"I know. I remember."

There was a short silence between the two of them.

"He would have been so happy."

Aidas said after a while and Lacey looked up at him.

"You think so?"

She asked and he nodded.

"Yes. He would. Hunt loves kids."

"Do you know what you're having?"

He asked and Lacey sighed.

"A boy. and a girl."

"I already know what I'm going to name them."

She said slowly. She already knew before. What she was going to name them before she found out they were twins.

If it was a girl, she would be Lila. Named after her sister that never seemed to enjoy her time in the world as she should have. Her sister died at the hands of Ianthe.

And if it was a boy he would be Hunt. Because he was the father. And he had died too early too.

Ironically, Hunt and Lila were mates. Two ill fated mates that the moon goddess had doomed to be together. But they didn't get together, they didn't love each other and Lacey didn't know if that was the crime they had to pay for.

If it was because they defied the natural laws of their being.

Was that why they were gone?

Nevertheless, even if they were gone, they were going to be reborn through her.

She thought as she held her belly close. This time, not as lovers but as brother and sister.

"Can I?"

Aidas asked as he looked at her belly and she nodded.

He placed a hand on her belly. She remembered how cold his hand always was. But this time she didn't flinch.

"Ohh."

He said softly.

"I want to raise them with you. I want you to sire them."

Lacey said suddenly and Aidas's eyes widened.

"Are you? Are you sure?"

He muttered and she nodded.

"I can't think of anyone else fit for the job."

Aidas nodded.

"I know. But I think you should think about it."

"Hunt was the alpha of his pack. By law, his children are his heirs and future Alphas of the pack."

Lacey shrugged. She didn't care about pack politics. She didn't even want to care. She didn't want to subject her children to such responsibilities.

Responsibilities that were forced upon Hunt at a young age and look at where it led him.

Hunt had selflessly protected her and Aidas like any Alpha would. He had given his life for the people he had cared about.

No, she didn't quite want the same for her children.

They were going to grow up as normal as possible. Free of restraints, pack politics and family responsibilities.

Hunt would have loved that kind of life for them.

"I don't want them to grow up that way. I want them to grow up as normal as possible."

Aidas chuckled.

"Have you forgotten that I'm a vampire? There is nothing normal."

Lacey nodded.

"It's a better alternative."

Aidas nodded.

"Alright."

Slowly he touched her cheek, his fingers tracing her cheeks, her jawline.

"I never stopped thinking about you."

"Me too."

Lacey whispered.

"Don't you ever leave again."

He begged her and Lacey smiled.

"I don't intend to."

THE END.
